I want to backup my apps and do a factory reset, but I did this one time with my orginal Droid and the apps restored, but they never showed up in the Market as downloaded and I never got updates for them Is there any way around this?

I have a Droid Eris, and in preparation for the impending firmware update, I am trying to back up my apps to an SD card. I downloaded AppMonster and noted that 2 free and 1 paid app are marked 'protected'. I proceeded to 'Backup' and noted those 3 did not back up. How can I get the paid app to save to an SD card? It is the Pure Calendar Widget.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI was looking for a Windows based tool that can make a complete backup image of my SD card (just didn't want to lose 13gb worth of photos and music). I tried the native Windows backup program, Ghost, and just about every other backup solution with no luck. I did run into a free program called "USB Image Tool" and it does just what I need. Once you mount your SD card on your phone, this little program will allow you to create an IMG image and also has restore functions. It is located at:

There seems to be an app I like that is going to undergo some changes in the market place and I'd like to keep a version of it the way it is before they change it. Is there a way to back this app up?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried the AppBackupReinstall app when I switched EVOs and reinstalled all my apps. But now when I go into the Market it doesn't show any as installed so it doesn't check for updates. The only ones it shows are the purchased apps or the ones I installed from the Market. I can even download the same apps that are already installed and it will download and overwrite them. Any way to back up free apps so they can be reinstalled AND show up in your Market Downloads?

Well, had to do a hard reset and realzied that even though I could reinstall the program, it appears that the notes are not saved anywhere and now I am screwed!To prevent this in the future, is there any way to back up important info that you put into these apps that you get on the Market?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOnce I download an apk and place it on sd, and install it with astro file manager, does the apk have to stay on sd card or is it permanently installed to system until deletion?
For example my SuperUser.apk, wireless tether.apk and swype.apk were installed from sd through astro. I also have these apk's backed up with titanium backup. If i delete them from sd will they be removed and uninstalled from my system?
Also... I did a nandroid backup with the great clockwork recovery. This only backs up ROM and not apps/apks....right?
Maybe this is more of an android question, not sure, but here it goes: so the incredible has 6+ gb of onboard storage, primarily for media. if i buy a micro sdhc card (say 8 gb), will the music/video player apps see both storage devices and merge all songs/videos into 1 selection screen, or is it like a real computer/os and i have to swap folders/drives? if it's the former, will it be seemless? what happens to play lists? can i have a play list that spans on-board songs and songs stored on the card?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI feel really dumb just asking this, but I don't want to wipe anything and I don't want a separate radio install. I'd like to get root, do s-off, and do one ROM flash or whatever that updates me to 2.2 and let's me get on with my life.
Someone linked to a ROM that said it was based on the real ota 2.2, but that doesn't make sense to me if you have to update your radio first and wipe your phone, when the ota doesn't require that.
Should I just try to flash without backing up stuff and wiping and hope for the best? I think I have a phobia of some sort here involving stuff with more than 3 or 4 steps.
I still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon.

How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
So i just loaded one of the new ROMs based on todays OTA.
I did the nandroid. I did the titanium. i flashed using rom manager and selected clear cache/data.
ROM loaded perfectly.. and when i went to titanium to restore, nothing was there!
I plugged the phone into the computer, and i can't even view the card.
I can browse the phone's memory, but not the cards.
I'm hoping there's some adb command or something that'll fix this...
I just got my first message memory full notification and frankly I'm quite disappointed now I don't see the point in limiting something that uses so little data compared to everything else.. But w/e, that's fine.And I'm sure that, like with everything else, there's an app for that So I'm betting a lot of you don't fancy deleting their texts either and I really like being able to backtrack my conversations a bit (love threaded view in that aspect).That's why I want to ask you guys, which sms backup app is the best.I would really like to be able to back my messages up to the SD and still be able to read or search them without having to restore, doesn't have to be threaded view or anything, just no cluttered xml file or anything been looking for this functionality since my first dumb phone, so I'm hoping this time I'm lucky So, any of you more experienced android users want to share some knowledge on this?
