I've successfully rooted my Incredible using Unrevoked. How do I go about deleting some of the pre-installed HTC apps?
I have some pre-installed applications on my G1 (IM, HiDialer, some Chinese appplications etc.) But i cannot uninstall them. It just says: uninstall not succesful. I read some other topics about this and there werent many answers. Only thing some people reply is just: get rooted. What if I am rooted? Then how do I uninstall them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell first of all id like to say thanks to all this who took the time to explain how to root. New my new questions are how do I delete the pre installed apps, which are safe to delete. Also is there a way to store apps to sd card? And what its overclocking?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought my first phone ever, so far I'm not overly impressed, it's about as stable as win98. The built in gmail is crap...if I send mail from gmail webpage I have no. problem, but if I send it from the phone I get errors or the mail floats off into space, who knows where it goes. Is there a way to un-install all this junk, there are at least 10-15 applications on this phone I have absolutely no use for and just eat up battery and ram? Update, was reading some other forums and I guess you can't really, or you have to hack the crap out of your phone...to bad I guess, they should make an Android lite version, I don't need Facebook, Twitter, nfl, stocks, nascar, or another half a dozen apps that came with the phone.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I just installed Easy Root because I was so disappointed with the new OTA update I just had to do something...So a few questions that I have are what are some must have apps to have with having a rooted Droid 1. Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? Custom Roms, and kernels whats that all about? Sorry for the new bs questions I'm just really lost and have no idea what I am doing.

View 13 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
Amazon MP3
Footprints
Teeter
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?

Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOnce I download an apk and place it on sd, and install it with astro file manager, does the apk have to stay on sd card or is it permanently installed to system until deletion?
For example my SuperUser.apk, wireless tether.apk and swype.apk were installed from sd through astro. I also have these apk's backed up with titanium backup. If i delete them from sd will they be removed and uninstalled from my system?
Also... I did a nandroid backup with the great clockwork recovery. This only backs up ROM and not apps/apks....right?
So I received my new Inc today since my original one had some dust under the screen. Anyhow, I installed a bunch of free apps on my original Inc but I can't seem to find out how to get those back. Is it just paid apps that you can retrieve?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Incredible. I really love it a lot, but I have a few questions if someone could clear them up for me. There are a bunch of pre-loaded apps on my phone (Facebook, twitter, stocks, my verizon) and they are always running in the background according to my task killer app. I want to get rid of them, and I have read that you cannot unless you "root" your phone. What exactly does rooting do? I know that it can permanently mess up your phone, so, is it worth it? Do you think that htc will update android to enable you to delete these pre-loaded apps?

1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?
2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?
3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?
4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. Obviously I'm new here and not real sure how the search function goes.
Anyway, can I delete the 2.1 file off my SD card once it's installed on my phone? If so, what's the easiest way to do that.
