Aug 22, 2010

My 8gb appeared to have a lot of crap on it when I mounted it today. I got a 16gb card, do I just put it in and it writes all that stuff to it or do I need to copy paste all those folders?

Can I swap out my current sd card for a bigger one without any ill effects on the apps I have installed or will they cease to function properly? Wondering if a wipe of the phone and re-install of my apps is the road to go. The only reason I'm asking is because I thought the apps were saved to the sd card as opposed to the internal storage.

I am considering buying a 16gb or 32 gb micro SD card to store some movies and music on my Incredible (which I receive later today, I can't wait). What are the drawbacks to buying a really cheap one off of ebay? I've noticed you can get them for about $10 with shipping. Is it just that the transfer will be very slow?

I was successful at rooting but unable to upgrade the radio. But that is a separate issue. How do I reactivate my phone? I am using the cyanogen ROM. It won't let me dial the 1 after the *228 starts.

I used the Clockwork, un-revoke tool which is suppose to root your phone. My intention was not to root my phone but to run recovery. I wanted to downgrade so I went thru the motion and it said everything was done/successful. Now, I don't want to be rooted. I am thinking of exchanging my phone for the Droid X.
I went into the terminal and did some root things but they were unsuccessful like "whoami", tried to unmount file system, etc. I am running "sudo <whatever command>" and "su" so it fails. I assume I'm not rooted but why would unrevoke app say I am? I am struggling to downgrade using Linux (different topic) but for now, I want to confirm my phone is not rooted.

I released an app on the Android market that I've since had to take down because approximately half of the comments were people complaining of damaged SD cards. I've gone over the code a few times and can't find anything that could damage an SD card. All that happens that involves external storage is the saving of streams as images, which then get read into ImageView's.

First post. so here goes.
I've searched around the forum and couldn't find anything.
So heres the issue. I've been dying to get myself an android phone for a while now, but no carriers in my country (Ireland) have any affordable ones. So I've been shopping around online. I've found a faulty one on ebay. Its fine except it keeps saying "No Sim Card"
So I was wondering, has anyone had this issue before? And is it something I could repair, or should I keep looking?

Not sure if this is because of the ROM I'm using or because I'm rooted, but I can't do a factory reset on my phone. If I try it, the phone reboots and locks into a boot loop. I can pull the battery, but then it boot loops again. I've basically got to boot into recovery mode and reflash a usable ROM or backup to get the phone working again. Is this because I'm rooted or is this because of the ROM I'm using (Skyraider)?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this. Have a droid. But am traveling to europe lots. Would like to have a phone that I can just put a pre paid Sim card in. Must be a GSM quad band phone, and I need to have it unlocked to take a pre paid sim card. Am only used to VZW as that is what I have had. Would the google phone do this, or can I unlock a TMO phone. If so, how do I do this. Also, would it be able to get data as well as voice if I purchased a sim with those capabilities.

So i recently rooted my incredible and using rom manager i downloaded the skyraider 3.0 rc3 rom. This rom is really nice but the downside to it is that my navigation doesnt work. I search for directions and it stays on the screen saying "searching for gps" or somethin like that. what could i do to fix this without having to get rid of the rom(btw i already tried pulling the battery and techniques like that)next my sd card seems to have problems now. Whenever i want to download an app on the market, it says theres not enough space and whenever i want to download a rom from rom manager it starts to say download error. should i completely wipe my sd card and is that a bad idea because isnt the rom and all the root stuff of my phone on the sd card? please!

Is anyone aware of a wallet app that uses the phone's camera to scan cards for backup? i don't really relish the idea of manually entering all my card nos. and info when the camera scanner function works so well recognizing business cards.
you know, I'd like to slap my credit card on the table, open the app and scan the card. the app should recognize the cc logo (mc, visa, discover, etc), card no., exp. date and prompt me for the verification no. on the back.
the app should be able to recognize most of the card types that people typically keep in the wallets: drivers license, library card, health ins, auto ins., loyalty cards. for those that it doesn't recognize by scan, the user should be able to select from a list or enter a "custom" type.
i haven't found anything like this. does one exist?
