Aug 31, 2010I recieved the ota update this morning and tried to install. while the phone did its thing with the power off i would get an exclamation point and with any button press would bring me into clockwork. I have no idea how to get the 2.2 update working and upon reboot of the phone i go to setting and check for software updates and am told it is up to date. If i go to the about phone section I am still running 2.1update1. Is it because my phone is rooted that I can not update? I do not care for root capabilities as my friend did it for me and wireless tether can be done natively. I have done a factory reset twice now but i can not get this froyo update to work.

Aug 1, 2010I get an error when I try to update the radio. "update radio ignoring attempt to do multiple firmware updates" I don't know what I did wrong. I put PB13IMG.ZIP on sd card, it installed. Then DINC_OTA and renamed to update applied that. REBOOTED checked settings and its still not updated.

Nov 24, 2010I have a rooted HTC 2.2 unrevoked (yay) and i have been getting a message coming up everyday and saying there is an update available. I click on it and it asks to install now or later. It is an android update saying it will update the vcast suite of apps. Well I have uninstalled that crap with Titanium backup. Whatever, im adventurous and I tell it to install and it says ii will reboot and it never does. It says it is downloaded but it just never installs and it is getting annoying.

Sep 20, 2010Running Incredible with Froyo. I rooted using Unrevoked3, but I forgot to make the nandroid backup, I guess. the LCD Changer app has my reboot looping. After the very first HTC Incredible screen it goes totally white and I just hear the "Droid" voice(plays when the red droid eye comes up on screen normally" nothing but white and the voice just repeats after the screen flashes every minute or so. Tried applying the update.zip that was linked to on the developers blog, but no luck. Any ideas? I even tried resetting to factory defaults, formatted everything, basically. Lost a great of data, I'm afraid, but I just want my phone back.

Since then, occasionally when I go from one app and then click the home button, it flashes and then shows the HTC white screen and then it takes time to load all my home screens back up. I have not updated the radio, flashed ROM, or changed kernel- just running stock.I have installed some root only apps and removed City ID, Twitter, and Peep.So what should I do if the expected OTA update comes through?Can I apply the update on a rooted phone? I believe from what I have read that I would have to unroot and revert to stock in the box.Do I want to apply the update?If I apply the update with -s on will I permanently lose root?(I have too much faith in the droid community and xda-dev to really believe this would be more than a temporary problem)

I can get into the recovery screen which has ROM Manager. Did I screw something up thats too deep internally?

The OTA update for the Samsung Captivate (that was supposed to fix the GPS and a couple other bugs) isn't working on my [rooted] phone. I am able to download it, but it says that the process failed after my phone restarts. Luckily, it doesn't brick my phone like it has done to some other people's phones. From what I can gather, it doesn't fail because the phone is rooted but because some of the stock AT&T apps have been removed. Is this the problem? If so, is there any place I can download those stock apps (AT&T Navigator, Where, Mobile Banking, etc.) and reload them onto my phone?

Sep 23, 2009I am getting calls going straight to voicemail with no missed calls on my phone, when I have full signal, so orange have (after a lot of calls) agreed to terminate my contract. I have to return my phone (shame I could not keep it for free!) and have rooted my phone, and installed the modaco ROM.
I want to return it with an orange ROM, and was wondering if I can just install the updated orange ROM on my phone over the top of the modaco, and has anyone done this successfully? From reading around I am assuming that this would hide the fact that I have ever rooted or installed a custom ROM, as I want to be back on warranty?

I turned my phone off when I got to work and when I turned it back on it would not go past the Android loading screen. Oct 24, 2010Yes you read it right I want to know how I can brick my phone or make it stop working completely. Now let me explain the reason why. I had installed an app called "Launcher Pro". Later I uninstalled it and that is when all hell broke lose. Basically when ever I would swipe my screen to unlock the phone, I would get constant error messages that would reappear the moment I would close them, and to make matters worse it would lock out the rest of the screen so I can not click any thing else (just like in windows vista and windows 7 when a UAC message pops up). This is further complicated by the fact that I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy Phone, which does not have the 3 button recovery ability but that is not the end of my problems. I got this phone at a store called Best Buy and got their warranty. Now one of the things that voids the warranty is unlocking the phone, guess what?? My phone is unlocked. So since my phone is not dead, it boots up, the lock screen loads up, the top bar shows u the battery life and the fact it is getting service and can receive calls (but which I can not answer since when it comes to that screen, the screen freezes up with the error messages). So if I take the phone to Best Buy, they are going to pop in a different sim other then bell and when they see that it works, will hand me back my phone and void my warranty. So I need to have the phone in such a condition that they can not check that and yes there can be no physical or water damage either. How do I accomplish this?

General :: Droid Bionic - Is It Safe To Re-root After Phone Update While Rooted?
Nov 25, 2012So i had my Droid Bionic (Verizon) rooted a few months back. A few weeks ago, there was an update for android firmware. I went from 2.3.4 to 4.0.4 without realizing I had to un-root my phone before.
The night I updated, my battery just so happened to run out in the middle of the night (the update was done in the morning, so the update process was obviously unaffected). I woke up to AP Flashboot Flash boot error. This was temporarily fixed with me just loading the fastboot menu and selecting Normal Powerup.
But now i would like to re-root my phone, and i was wondering if it is safe to just straight-up root it with my comp. And if im not specific enough, just let me know what information i have to include.
