HTC Incredible :: Use Apps2SD On A Rooted Phone?
Jul 1, 2010Is there anyway to use Apps2SD on a rooted incredible yet? Not running any ROMs and I can't for the life of me find any info on it. Been on Google for an hour.

HTC Incredible :: Apps2sd Is Apparently A Placebo
Oct 19, 2010After testing both stock 2.1 and 2.2 and different rom bakes, the conclusion is that the Incredible for some reason does not really have "true" apps2sd (as define by Android). It appears that regardless of if most of an app is moved to the sd or not, the total available app space is nowhere near even the 748mb on device and the ceiling is actually around 500mb when "low on space" errors begin popping up.
Key example is when apps are shifted to the sd, the low on space error still happened, regardless of cache and message spaces being clean. I tested this with stock as well.The app install space is not to be confused with data downloads that some apps automatically install to sd (games like Quake, Nova, etc), but the actuall apps2sd move process in the app manager.It does not matter where the weight of the apps is installed, since whether having 300mb apps on the device and 200mb apps on the card results in the same thing as 500mb of apps on the device and 0mb apps on the sd- low on space is the result.On the Incredible, apps2sd is really app displacement. As a result, it is better not to use apps2sd, since saves space on the microsd card and makes no difference to the amount of apps you can install. Also, there is no way to get anywhere near the 748mb, yet alone having that much on the device and part of apps on the microsd (total would be a more than 748mb).

Jul 20, 2010I used the Clockwork, un-revoke tool which is suppose to root your phone. My intention was not to root my phone but to run recovery. I wanted to downgrade so I went thru the motion and it said everything was done/successful. Now, I don't want to be rooted. I am thinking of exchanging my phone for the Droid X.
I went into the terminal and did some root things but they were unsuccessful like "whoami", tried to unmount file system,etc. I am running "sudo <whatever command>" and "su" so it fails. I assume I'm not rooted but why would unrevoke app say I am? I am struggling to downgrade using Linux (different topic) but for now, I want to confirm my phone is not rooted.

Sep 27, 2010Not sure if this is because of the ROM I'm using or because I'm rooted, but I can't do a factory reset on my phone. If I try it, the phone reboots and locks into a boot loop. I can pull the battery, but then it boot loops again. I've basically got to boot into recovery mode and reflash a usable ROM or backup to get the phone working again. Is this because I'm rooted or is this because of the ROM I'm using (Skyraider)?

Oct 8, 2010So i recently rooted my incredible and using rom manager i downloaded the skyraider 3.0 rc3 rom. This rom is really nice but the downside to it is that my navigation doesnt work. I search for directions and it stays on the screen saying "searching for gps" or somethin like that. what could i do to fix this without having to get rid of the rom(btw i already tried pulling the battery and techniques like that)next my sd card seems to have problems now. Whenever i want to download an app on the market, it says theres not enough space and whenever i want to download a rom from rom manager it starts to say download error. should i completely wipe my sd card and is that a bad idea because isnt the rom and all the root stuff of my phone on the sd card? please!

Aug 23, 2010I still have some apps and my phone and wifi seem to be working fine.I don't have Market, Rom Manager, Titanium (but I DO have SuperUser). When I USB my phone to PC - the PC doesn't see either the phone pr the card although I haven't reinstalled HTC Sync). At this point, I don't really even know if I'm rooted or have busybox.I'm really puzzled as to what I should do next:I don't know whether to do a phone restore from Settings or, perhaps from Recovery? Or whether to find a RUU (Is there one with the updated radio or with Froyo? Or, I guess I could wait for the OTA - but that's a wimped out way out and it might not even work at this point. Or, do I want to try reinstalling Rom Manager and do the permission fix - then reflash one of the Froyo Roms. But would that get me Market back? In all cases I'm gonna have to reinstall most of my apps since most resided (at least partially) on the dead sd. Fortunately appbrain has a record of all my apps. - but, from what I understand, there's no way to install the Market, except via HTC/Google/Verizon.

Mar 26, 2010I'm a VZW subscriber. I currently use a Storm 2 (HATE IT). I have been waiting... and waiting for the N1. I have a friend that works in the higher ups of VZW (not retail). I was just giving him shit the other day about the N1 situation. He said, "you should just get the Incredible it has slight better specs and the optical mouse.". I then told him my dislike for Sense UI. He said, "well then just root it".Would there be any difference between a rooted N1 and a rooted Incredible? Wouldn't they then have the exact same OS? (Provided I was going to flash it with Cyanogen). Thusly I would have the same phone with better specs, if I got the Inc over the N1. Is this flawed thinking? Since the N1 is Googles phone and gets updates first. When you root and flash with a diff ROM, do you then not get updates? I'm guessing you would be reliant on the updates to that ROM which ever MOD you choose.

Aug 14, 2010when i partition my SD to include an ext2 partition my phone does not boot, it gets to the white htc boot screen (phone is rooted using modaco rom) but doesn't boot. it boots if just merely formatted but not when partitioned. anyone know a solution? or maybe a windows program that can partition ext2?

I've partitioned the SD card and changed Ext2 to Ext3, but when I run Apps2SD it tells me there's a problem and I should check out the tutorial (which links to a deleted thread)...
Anyone used Villain 5.2 with Apps2SD who can help?
