Anyone find a way to turn off or at least dim the LED backlight for the softkeys on a rooted phone? It's blinding at night especially when trying to use Google Sky Map.

Is there any way to turn down the brightness on the soft keys. Mine are annoyingly bright. Especially the menu key. The backlight on the menu key is really bright in the middle and fades out on the ends. I wish the used the symbol instead of spelling it out.
View 11 Replies View RelatedHad my captivate for a month now(not rooted). I am really enjoying it as my first smart phone and the customization (Zeam launcher, Handcent SMS, etc) is really great. One thing that bugs me though are the soft keys. The way it is set up mainly. Why is the home key between the back and the menu button? and why do i need a search button. I understand the droid is google based, but really? why does it need a button dedicated to it. rooted phone can you change the function of the softkeys so i could have the search key do something different when pressed.

Hey guys had a question. I noticed today while watching a movie at night in a vehicle that the 4 navigation buttons at the bottom of the phone never go off. At night it's actually quite annoying while trying to watch a movie. How can i get these to turn off while viewing a video?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Desire Bravo C I rooted it with clockwork mod and I went into the boot loader and clicked wipe data/factory reset I didn't know what it meant but now I cant turn on my phone! I can still load the boot loader menu and access restore..when I try to restore from a backup via the recovery menu it says the fallowing
-Restoring Data android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure.
-Restoring Cache sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext/.
-Restore Complete! I power it off then it puts me right back into bootloader.
I want to use softkeys in my phone, running CM 7. I installed Button savior, but I wanted the buttons in the statusbar. are there an way to install the softkeys?

I was wondering whether this way the way the phone was suppose to work or its something that not functioning on my end. I was also wondering if it does stay on all the time is there an app or option on the phone that can change it so that it times out after a while or dims.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have a problem with the backlight on the Home/Menu/Back/seach buttons. On my Incredible sometimes they come on when I bring it out of sleep and stay on. Other times they don't come on at all. Sometimes they just come on in the middle of doing something on the phone.
Have added some apps from the market but can't remember if it was like this from the start. Did a reboot and battery pull but it's still occuring.
I have also had a couple phantom reboots when in sleep mode so not sure if it's related.
I have tried covering it up, playing with the phone in the dark but the backlight for the home, menu, back and search buttons will not come on. They worked when I got the phone on tuesday until wednesday night, then they cut out. I just did a factory reset and they are still not working. Does anyone have any suggestions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used the Clockwork, un-revoke tool which is suppose to root your phone. My intention was not to root my phone but to run recovery. I wanted to downgrade so I went thru the motion and it said everything was done/successful. Now, I don't want to be rooted. I am thinking of exchanging my phone for the Droid X.
I went into the terminal and did some root things but they were unsuccessful like "whoami", tried to unmount file system,etc. I am running "sudo <whatever command>" and "su" so it fails. I assume I'm not rooted but why would unrevoke app say I am? I am struggling to downgrade using Linux (different topic) but for now, I want to confirm my phone is not rooted.
Is there anyway to use Apps2SD on a rooted incredible yet? Not running any ROMs and I can't for the life of me find any info on it. Been on Google for an hour.

I keep dropping calls -- The back light comes on randomly and then my chin hits the end call button or other keys and I lose the call. I have had no success figuring out how to disable the backscreen from coming on during a call or if there is another solution that would work. I do not want to return the phone. Can anyone think of a solution?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was trying to get cwn recovery onto my phone and as said i was unsure of what i was doing (i know im Stupid) i had already sucessfully rooted the phone and i opened mtkdroid tools and clicked backup and recovery the box on the right started to spit out text as my phone became detached from the data cable.
Now when i try to power up the phone the backlight lights up for 3-4 seconds then nothing if i hold
volume + and power with no data cable i get the same backlight for 3-4 seconds

the phone displays a battry bar in blue if i do nothing
the pc seems to recognise phone as universal serial bus
mtkdroidtools does not regognise the phone at all
the phone did say android preloader driver not found but ive installed this and this has now disapeared?

View 4 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is because of the ROM I'm using or because I'm rooted, but I can't do a factory reset on my phone. If I try it, the phone reboots and locks into a boot loop. I can pull the battery, but then it boot loops again. I've basically got to boot into recovery mode and reflash a usable ROM or backup to get the phone working again. Is this because I'm rooted or is this because of the ROM I'm using (Skyraider)?
