HTC Incredible : Droid Gingerbread OTA Update
Aug 26, 2010Anyone receive it yet? I love me some gingerbread!
View 6 RepliesAnyone receive it yet? I love me some gingerbread!
View 6 RepliesHear that Droid X may possibly not receive the Gingerbread update due to resolution.
I have 1 week left to return my Droid X and get a phone that will support Gingerbread when it comes out. What about the D2? Will any of the current phones available from Verizon work with Gingerbread?
I know it is speculation right now, but I want to make sure I can and will receive GB. My phone is rooted, but I do not want to wait for a port after it is released.
Excuse my ignorance, but will rooted phones be able to download the new Gingerbread update when it's available?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm a proud user of a Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman and it's currently running on Hybrom v17 and Rage Kernel, but it's still signed as Android 2.3.4. I searched on the internet and it seems that people from my country, with the same phone model and operator are getting the official update... But I still don't have it in my PC Companion... Do I have to return to the stock version of Gingerbread to get the update? If so, do I have to change the kernel back to stock too?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince accepting the Gingerbread update, I have noticed that the Recent Calls feature of the Dialer now only shows timestamps in reference to the current time rather than the time the call occurred. Calls now show timestamps in the format of 1 hour ago or yesterday rather than displaying the actual time of the call.

View 9 Replies View RelatedJust did the Froyo OTA earlier - it updated without a hitch (and real fast thanks to broadband Wifi). I've been playing around with my "new" DX and no issues since the update this afternoon. Seems to working great so far. Even though Froyo has just been released I'm curious on what may be changed/enhanced/deleted/etc for Gingerbread (perhaps what other changes people here might expect or want). I have read some of the posts here about it and understand its mostly just speculation at this point, but I thought I might ask anyway. I do hope Motoblur might be removed or at least diminished more than it is now for 3.0. Its supposed to be out by the end of the year from what I've read. Also some have posted that the DX may not get Gingerbread. Hope that's not true.

View 13 Replies View RelatedDroid incredible OTA update will be pushed on ???? to phones and to a lucky few before that date. My source says it will have the 720p as well as wifi hotspot, as well as the back end, speed, and battery life enhancements. They also mentioned that there would be some new htc widgets and better skype support.take it for what it is worth but i will try to get some visual evidence.if anyone is getting the ota on there phone please post a picture here!
Update 1
720p, 802.11n,3g mobile hot spot, New HTC widget for email, New HTC widget for news, Amazon MP3, New pop/imap email updates
UPDATE 2
Source says that It looks like this might only be a minor update and not full 2.2 from reports of people getting it already. We will have to wait and see to know for sure.
UPDATE 3
I am sorry to say that i have far less faith in my source after this blunder... now things may have come up such as a problem with the update or the fact that they are pushing out updates for the Droid x, droid Eris and the BB curve right now and the data load would be too much. What ever the case i thought that my source (who has been a very reliable one) would be right on but apparently something has come up. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up but at least some good came of this.(leaked OTA) next time I will be a little more general with any dates that I put out.Verizon all but confirms Droid Incredible's getting Froyo soon | Android Central. So the latest rumor is that it will come out on the 18th of august.lets hope that this time it is true!
I have a rooted HTC 2.2 unrevoked (yay) and i have been getting a message coming up everyday and saying there is an update available. I click on it and it asks to install now or later. It is an android update saying it will update the vcast suite of apps. Well I have uninstalled that crap with Titanium backup. Whatever, im adventurous and I tell it to install and it says ii will reboot and it never does. It says it is downloaded but it just never installs and it is getting annoying.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes it actually work? I still have to manually update the apps I put on auto update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else experienced the problems with HTC Sense force closing and being extremely laggy after installing the android 2.2 update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone heard anything from htc or verizon about the lag some of us have after the update? My phone is generally just slower and seems to stutter a lot more.text msgs is a joke with how laggy it is to read and type them.I was messing around with a friends nexus1 and it was way faster than my incredible This is all after a factory reset etc.I am hesitant to do a reset again since I will lose everything once more.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo as far as I understood things, Gingerbread was supposed to be released yesterday. Apparently not. But I'm sure it's coming pretty soon. Does anyone have any idea when they're releasing it? Moreover, how do we get it, is it sent out or do we have to find it ourselves?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont know how many people just read the article on engadget (Android 3.0 Gingerbread getting revamped UI, Froyo living on for lower-end phones? -- Engadget) but it seems as though not many, if any, current phones will be making the cut for gingerbread (android 3.0) and also that we're going to be seeing many new crazy high-powered phones being released this fall and winter (consisting of bigger screens, faster processors, 1280by760 resolution!). So my question is do you think Evo will make the cut for android 3.0 or will it be obsolete compared to what is on the market by this Christmas (regardless of whether it gets 3.0 or not)
View 49 Replies View RelatedWith 2.2 we got the market feature to update all which will just update all of the apps that have outstanding updates in the market.
What I cannot figure out is how to stop one particular app from updating, specifically I do not want to update the Facebook app since there are many reviews saying it is a big battery drainer and I do not use the app anyway.
Also, anytime I download a new app from the market, it automatically starts the download of the Facebook update, so I have to cancel it or if I don't catch it in time I have to uninstall the update. For both instances it just appears in my update queue again and I have the same problem next time.
So basic question is: Is there any way to select an app to not automatically update with the update all feature, or can we turn off the update all feature?
The download process will start on its own then the handset will reset good luck.

Sounds interesting.
Google says they hope this UI overhaul makes skins made by manufacturers (Sense UI, Motoblur) "pointless."
We've all been saying Android's next version, Gingerbread will be 3.0. But, new evidence suggests it is not 3.0.
Gingerbread is Android 2.3 » BriefMobile
Android Gingerbread is likely version 2.3 as a Google engineer on the Security Team called it 2.3 in a support response on Google's code site for Android.
Also, his response to the guy's support indicates that the Nexus One will indeed receive the upgrade! Not that we thought it wouldn't, but confirmation is always nice.
Think it is 2.3, 2.5, or 3.0?
Firstly, I want to ask what is the next versions from Android after froyo and why android phones have got a greater demand in USA. Is Android No.1 in the Mobile operating system.
