View 15 Replies View RelatedI see the specs of the X are up to speed but what cornfuses me is the higher resolution coming as well. Will the Droid X be able to do the 1280 x 768 being touted?
View 14 Replies View RelatedIm just wondering if anyone knows or if you have heard about when and if the DROID X will be getting Gingerbread? Also im wondering if anyone has heard anything about if the DROID X is going to be able to convert into 4G?
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust did the Froyo OTA earlier - it updated without a hitch (and real fast thanks to broadband Wifi). I've been playing around with my "new" DX and no issues since the update this afternoon. Seems to working great so far. Even though Froyo has just been released I'm curious on what may be changed/enhanced/deleted/etc for Gingerbread (perhaps what other changes people here might expect or want). I have read some of the posts here about it and understand its mostly just speculation at this point, but I thought I might ask anyway. I do hope Motoblur might be removed or at least diminished more than it is now for 3.0. Its supposed to be out by the end of the year from what I've read. Also some have posted that the DX may not get Gingerbread. Hope that's not true.

View 13 Replies View RelatedHear that Droid X may possibly not receive the Gingerbread update due to resolution.
I have 1 week left to return my Droid X and get a phone that will support Gingerbread when it comes out. What about the D2? Will any of the current phones available from Verizon work with Gingerbread?
I know it is speculation right now, but I want to make sure I can and will receive GB. My phone is rooted, but I do not want to wait for a port after it is released.
How do you root Motorola DEFY XT with Gingerbread 2.3.7 on it? it is on the new Republic Network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone receive it yet? I love me some gingerbread!
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo as far as I understood things, Gingerbread was supposed to be released yesterday. Apparently not. But I'm sure it's coming pretty soon. Does anyone have any idea when they're releasing it? Moreover, how do we get it, is it sent out or do we have to find it ourselves?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont know how many people just read the article on engadget (Android 3.0 Gingerbread getting revamped UI, Froyo living on for lower-end phones? -- Engadget) but it seems as though not many, if any, current phones will be making the cut for gingerbread (android 3.0) and also that we're going to be seeing many new crazy high-powered phones being released this fall and winter (consisting of bigger screens, faster processors, 1280by760 resolution!). So my question is do you think Evo will make the cut for android 3.0 or will it be obsolete compared to what is on the market by this Christmas (regardless of whether it gets 3.0 or not)

Sounds interesting.
Google says they hope this UI overhaul makes skins made by manufacturers (Sense UI, Motoblur) "pointless."
We've all been saying Android's next version, Gingerbread will be 3.0. But, new evidence suggests it is not 3.0.
Gingerbread is Android 2.3 » BriefMobile
Android Gingerbread is likely version 2.3 as a Google engineer on the Security Team called it 2.3 in a support response on Google's code site for Android.
Also, his response to the guy's support indicates that the Nexus One will indeed receive the upgrade! Not that we thought it wouldn't, but confirmation is always nice.
Think it is 2.3, 2.5, or 3.0?
Firstly, I want to ask what is the next versions from Android after froyo and why android phones have got a greater demand in USA. Is Android No.1 in the Mobile operating system.
View 9 Replies View RelatedGoogle brought more language support to Android with Gingerbread. How do I use it? the only indication of Arabic support is that, when I get a text message in Arabic, it shows the letters in Arabic, but not connected to each other the way they should be.What I want is to make everything Arabic, not just messages received in Arabic.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to have ICS apps such as Email, Messenging and Contacts on Gingerbread? Like a port of them or a theme to replace the same apps on GB.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a GAlaxy Beam gi-i8530 and it is unlocked to any carrier. I read that it can be upgraded to ICS. My current android version is 2.3.6 Ginger bread and i wanted to know how can I upgrade my galaxy beam.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell I am working on beagleboard-xm project, where I am supposed to upgrade the current Android version to ICS. The thing is, I have to keep the current kernel , because it is customized for some applications that run on that board. It is not me that compiled that kernel...
Is it even possible to keep the "old" kernel and upgrade to ICS? Can it be done in any way? Or a new kernel with new patches has to be installed...?
I've have recently upgraded my Galaxy S from Darky Rom v10.2 to Cyanogen Mod 9 (ICS).. Absolutely EVERYTHING is better...
Except....
The contacts application (both dialer and 'people') that comes with ICS is not as good as the Gingerbread versions. Obviously the ICS versions look prettier but with the older versions you could:
- swype left on a contact to message (brilliant)
- swype right on a contact to call (brilliant)
- easily access the contacts app from within the dialer via the tabs at the top
My question is... is it possible to use the gingerbread versions of the contacts and dialer apps on ICS... if so, HOW?
What features do you think will be available and how will they effect the DINC? Will Gingerbread be the last update to the DINC and does the coming of better smart phones with 2Ghz processors mark an end to this generation of android phones?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI found that android 3.0 is gingerbread, what are the new features in gingerbread and when it is going to be launched. And also i need information about the official release date of Honeycomb.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIf i root my incredible when someone gains root access, will i need to unroot it to install OTA updates on 2.2 and gingerbread?
View 11 Replies View RelatedSo i recently did a manual install of ICS onto my wind mobile nexus S.
ICS has been absolutely terrible on the phone, everything lags (2 seconds or more for a response after tapping on any icon/button etc...)
the already short battery life has been cut in half (2.5 hours to go from 100 - 50% with minimal useage)
So i want to revert to gingerbread. Is it possible to do without rooting my phone? as i plan on selling it, and i want it to be as "Stock" as possible.
