I see the specs of the X are up to speed but what cornfuses me is the higher resolution coming as well. Will the Droid X be able to do the 1280 x 768 being touted?

Just did the Froyo OTA earlier - it updated without a hitch (and real fast thanks to broadband Wifi). I've been playing around with my "new" DX and no issues since the update this afternoon. Seems to working great so far. Even though Froyo has just been released I'm curious on what may be changed/enhanced/deleted/etc for Gingerbread (perhaps what other changes people here might expect or want). I have read some of the posts here about it and understand its mostly just speculation at this point, but I thought I might ask anyway. I do hope Motoblur might be removed or at least diminished more than it is now for 3.0. Its supposed to be out by the end of the year from what I've read. Also some have posted that the DX may not get Gingerbread. Hope that's not true.

Hear that Droid X may possibly not receive the Gingerbread update due to resolution.
I have 1 week left to return my Droid X and get a phone that will support Gingerbread when it comes out. What about the D2? Will any of the current phones available from Verizon work with Gingerbread?
I know it is speculation right now, but I want to make sure I can and will receive GB. My phone is rooted, but I do not want to wait for a port after it is released.

Finally something to give iphone a run for its money in terms of user interface and speed. I ahve used almost every phone on the market (yes i have a sickness and so far impressed with the droid, having good service is a big plus too. I can't wait to explore more android and for the hacking to begin and get multi touch browser and keyboard. I hate the physical keyboard, the soft keyboard is nice and will be much better with multitouch support (which would make for smooth iphone converts) Anyone have a recommendation for a good media player? my iphone was my primary device for all as my car supports a2dp.

I have just started playing around with the video on my new x. I uploaded some files onto my mac and they opened with Quicktime. Im not sure what format the files were copied in, but I tried to import them into imovie so I could edit them and it doesnt seem to recognized the files I uploaded from the x. Can someone tell me what format the x video is in and how I might convert this to a mac friendly file (preferably for free).

I've been trying to get a couple episodes of weeds on my DX (great show btw) and I've been having trouble with the playback. I used this guide exactly to convert them .How to convert videos and transfer them to the Motorola DROID X - Know Your Cell. The quality of the videos is great and so is the sound, its just in high "action" areas of the video its pretty choppy and laggy. One thing I should point out is that the videos original files are smaller than the droids highest resolution, but they still look great on the screen.

I have other bootanimation.zip that work but I can't figure out what the difference is.

I am using a html parser called jsoap, to load and parse html files. The problem is that the webpage I'm scraping is encoded in ISO-8859-1 charset while Android is using UTF-8 encoding(?). This is results in some characters shows up as question marks. So now I guess I should convert the string to UTF-8 format. Now I have found this Class called CharsetEncoder in the Android SDK, which I guess could help me. But I can't figure out how to implement it in practice, so I wonder if could get som help with by a practical example.

I have a library that takes a File object as a parameter to one of the functions.
I am getting the file like this:
this.openFileOutput("myFile", MODE_PRIVATE)
I need to load this file from the system, however, I don't know how to convert FileOutputStream to File. Or is there another way of doing this?

I am new to this site, and I come with a question about Android.
Is there any way to convert a Bitmap to grayscale? I know how to draw a grayscale bitmap (using canvas operations: http://www.mail-archive.com/android-developers@googlegroups.com/msg38890.html) but I really need The actual bitmap in gray colors (or at least something that could be converted to a bitmap later on).
Do I have to implement it by hand (pixel by pixel operations)?
I've searched a lot, and still could not find. Anyone knows a easy/efficient way to do it?
