I have 1 week left to return my Droid X and get a phone that will support Gingerbread when it comes out. What about the D2? Will any of the current phones available from Verizon work with Gingerbread?
I know it is speculation right now, but I want to make sure I can and will receive GB. My phone is rooted, but I do not want to wait for a port after it is released.

Jul 6, 2012I'm a proud user of a Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman and it's currently running on Hybrom v17 and Rage Kernel, but it's still signed as Android 2.3.4. I searched on the internet and it seems that people from my country, with the same phone model and operator are getting the official update... But I still don't have it in my PC Companion... Do I have to return to the stock version of Gingerbread to get the update? If so, do I have to change the kernel back to stock too?

1) Is it more important now to have a "pattern-protected" lock screen?
2) Do I need to create a unique password for SU access?
3) Do I need to be more concerned malware or data swiping from market apps?
I love my recently rooted Droid but assume that "with great power, comes great responsibility." Is my assumption correct, or do I need not be concerned?

Oct 25, 2011I read somewhere that rooted phones can use the mobile hotspot feature that most come with, without Verizon knowing about it. I've also however heard that sometimes it still gets back to the carrier and they cancel your service. I've been using my tethering in very small doses because I'm not sure if big red is monitoring me. If they aren't I want to take full advantage of the tethering feature.

Calls now show timestamps in the format of 1 hour ago or yesterday rather than displaying the actual time of the call.

Jun 7, 2010Just picked up the EVO 4G and looking to root in order to remove the Sprint apps and other bloatware (Peep, Footprints, etc.). I'm just trying to find out if it will be possible to use OTA Sprint firmware updates (i.e. the inevitable 2.2 down the road) once the phone is rooted, and if so, will it reset the phone (delete all data) or merely revoke root access? Down the line, I'm not so concerned about having root access, mostly right now with removing the excess.
