Curious anyone's thoughts on letting a battery completely drain, before charging VS pluggin it in every night, whether its low or not? Does it develop a "memory", and thereby cut the usable charge down?

Motorola Milestone user here. I posted this yesterday in the appropriate section, but I figured this issue might apply to other phones as well. Sorry for the lenght but I thought I'd cover all bases.Anyway here's what happens when I charge my phone overnight. Let's say my battery is at 80%:
1. Turn off Wifi
2. All tasks killed except for Alarm Clock. Sometimes I run the Music Player but it doesn't make a difference with the battery drain issue whether I use it or not.
3. Background data is not enabled
4. The "Stay Awake" (Screen will never sleep while charging) option in the "Applications" menu is NOT CHECKED
5. Auto-brightness is not selected, and brightness is set at the lowest level.
6. Data Roaming (connect to data services when roaming) is not selected
7. Bluetooth not on
8. Charge the phone - I see the animated lightning bolt icon
9. Press the "sleep" button for the screen, or, allow it to naturally go dark after 30s
Today's my 4th day of using the phone. I just charged it while phone's on, from 1 bar of battery left. It only took 1 hour for the LCD light to go green? that doesn't sound right. Is that normal?

After having the phone charging all night by my bedside, I wake up, take the phone off the charger, and immediately it drops from 100% to 90%. Sometimes higher..sometimes lower. Today it went to 88%. The phone is plugged in for 8-9 hours.
Is my battery not getting a complete charge? Does the battery stop charging at 100 and begin discharging from there even while plugged in? This happens with my by EVO battery, and the backup battery from my old Hero. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue.
I put the charger in the port and didn't realize that it wasn't charging until after I completely drained the battery. And yes, I plugged it in and checked the outlet. I got it at Best Buy. Is that where I should return it or can I do it at the Verizon store?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that for the past few days I have been experiencing lower than normal battery performance with my Eris. I checked the battery sonsumption and it says that it is the camera that is doing it. OK. So I force kill everything (reinstalled a task killer) and opened the camera and closed it again. I always exit an app with the back button, not the home button. Still the problem persists. I noticed that while it was charging last night that the camera was using 100% of my battery. So my conclusion is that whenever I charge my Eris the camera runs in the background even after I take it off of the charger. Is anyone having this problem?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI got my Eris aroudn the end of Novemeber or early Dec. Conditioned the battery as I followed on here. Now, the past two full charges this weekend haven't lasted at all. Battery draining super fast. I easily get 1 1/2-2 days on full charge, minimal phone useage/text/basic net. Full charge this AM, two texts, maybe 5 minutes total internet and now late afternoon re dlining and low battery level coming on.Defective, shot, or something else? I was getting very low awake time, now I see it is around 50%. I constantly use advanced task killer.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOk - so I took the plunge today and went to the 2.1 leak...installed perfectly thanks to Matlock's guide - LOVE 2.1 - it's awesome!Just have a ONE MAJOR PROB (and a minor one) - my battery is literally draining before my eyes!It will be at 80% and I will load the weather and maybe respond to a text and it will drop to 79%. View 49 Replies View RelatedI tried doing the Airplane trick...I am not sure this is the 50% issue others have mentioned because when I go to view my battery statistics, it doesn't show the 2 lines of information like it did before (i.e, 50%), but my phone idle and cell standby are Both hanging around 36%...seems kind of high in my opinion.

So i looked at it and battery is still red. And i am wonder what the heck. Everything is plug in where it should be.
Low and behold the chord connecting at the mini usb well let's just say the casing is ripping apart and the wire is exposed. I've had this phone for 3 weeks and this happens.
Verizon better give me a new charger. Also i've notice i always get Sense UI force closed and other apps force closed but if i close and start again it works.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe battery life is not too good.But it's tiny after all.I was looking at getting an extra battery.This one: "Seidio Innocell 1750mAh Extended Battery for Verizon HTC Droid Eris" at HTC Depot is $49.95.On eBay,I can get 2 batteries and a wall charger for around $11.But I have a case for the phone and it looks like opening it up every day to change batteries would wear it out very quickly.Does anyone know of an external battery with a (short) cord to the USB/charge port?That could be 4 times the size of an internal battery and still fit in my pocket.

I have not downloaded any new apps, and have hardly any apps that would take up battery life honestly. Any ideas on what to do? Or is it just time to go into Verizon and see what they say?

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis has happened about 2-3 times now since the phone was released.The phone is fully charged before I go to bed and in the morning it's dead since the phone turned off by itself.Also it might explain why during the day, even without use for 2-3 hours it drains for no reason down to ~25%?So weird, anyone else have this problem? The most concerning thing is that it seems to be running down quicker overnight, while I�m asleep and the phone is idle with the screen locked. When I went to sleep last night it was showing at about 50%. However it woke me up at 5am this morning telling me to connect the charger � the second time this has happened in 3 days. I already have wireless, bluetooth and 3G switched off (I only switch these on when I want to use them), background data switched off and the screen brightness set at low. When I checked the applications that were running this morning, there was nothing that shouldn't have been there. Anyone got any idea what could be causing the battery to run down so quickly overnight when the phones not being used?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using BB V0.4 with Chevys 1.2 ghz ul kernel.My battery meter has been on 100% all morning normally it drains much faster than this. I know there is a CHANCE my battery just isn't being drained because of the 1.2 ghz ul, but it seems pretty slim to me. I have been using it for probably 4 hours without it going down form 100%.
View 22 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone 2 days ago. Ever since then, I noticed that my phone takes a ridiculous amount of time to charge. 8 hours to get it to 85%??? Even all night it it didn't manage to get to 100%. It's only been 3 hours since I unplugged the phone and I'm at 35% battery.
I've tried a restart, reboot (battery pull) and even factory reset! Nothing is working.
I have another issue too that may or may not be related to this issue regarding hidden photos..
I forced froyo last week. and since this morning it has been draining so fast that if i take it off the charger its dead within an hour. just started doing this? any body else?

View 19 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend and I both bought this phone from Verizon last Friday. We both let the battery run down completely before charging it up (which I was told by the Verizon rep was the "way to go"), and we have both been experiencing GOD AWFUL battery life. Strange battery behavior has included (but has not been limited to):
- Battery going from 100% to 5% after 5.5 hours straight of browsing, playing games, etc., followed by the Battery going from 100% to 5% after 5.5 hours of idle (with light texting and a few quick phone calls mixed in). Seemingly no consistency.
- Battery draining down to around 30% after about 8 hours off-charger with light to moderate use (a few web pages, a few apps downloaded, and about half a dozen texts). If this wasn't annoying enough, shortly after reaching 30%, the phone suddenly took a nosedive into the red, and warned me that I had 5% battery remaining.................
The problems I'm having:
- The battery is draining wicked fast.
- The phone is ridiculously hot like the radio is working overtime.
- And the screen is so sensitive that when swiping home screens the damn thing tries to go back, or skips a screen. In the browser if I scroll up or down with just one finger it tends to try to pinch zoom. And on the home screen when trying to press and hold an app it double clicks and opens it. The on screen keyboard many times just blips out when swyping trying to type one word and it ends up being 4-5.
So I tried turning the phone off and back on. No difference. Did the OTA update. No difference. I didn't even install any apps yet. But I did remove everything from my home screens to hopefully fix the battery life. No difference. I like the keyboard (miles ahead of the D1) and the fact swype comes stock, if it would only work correctly. Does every droid 2 have these problems? Are they all hot all the time? Are they all super sensitive? Are they all sucking battery at a phenomenal rate?
holy cow, since 2.2, my battery drains in like 4 hours. even in standby. is there some setting i should turn off? whats the deal?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 7's (2013) battery was low so I decided to charge it. I plugged it in to a AC adapter and it showed that it was charging. The tablet's battery was decreasing! I decided to turn it off and charge it. I've been trying to fix the tablet for a while. It showed empty battery icon, LED light above the usb port was flickering 5 times. Then it showed no more sign of life. I've tried many things including holding power button for 1 minute, tried different chargers, plugged in a different outlet, used original charger. The tablet is still under warranty but I don't want to go through all the trouble to get a new one. My tablet is not rooted.
