View 12 RepliesIs there anyway to turn the phone on without a battery in there by using the charging cable? No one seems to sell the battery, not in store that is and getting it online will be a couple of days ...
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the Samsung Vibrant there is the USB cable and the charger that you plug the USB cable into (to charge it from the wall). I was wondering if charging the battery from a PC was any different the plugging the USB cable into the wall charger? I would like to just keep the USB cable plugged into my PC and charge it that way but I want to know if it will get the same charge as it would with the wall outlet.
View 6 Replies View RelatedToday I took my Sprint HTC Hero to a Sprint store to upgrade to Android 2.1. In my opinion, I don't think it was worth upgrading the software. I really liked the options in 1.5 more especially the camera app. Any way, after getting home, my batter was almost dead. I pluged the micro usb cable into my Hero and attempted to charge it via an a/c charger. It started to charge from 10% slowly but then only went to 22% and stopped and stayed there for 2 hours. The back of my Hero was REALLY hot. I shut off the phone and let it cool and tried again. Same thing happened. I noticed that when you are using the phone and charging it in 2.1, the battery starts to die and it gets hot even quicker.Shutting the phone off and charging didnt help. What did and is still working, is putting the phone in Airplane mode, killing unnecessary running apps/widgets with the Advanced Task Killer by ReChild and then proceding to charge the phone. After leaving it like this for 30 minutes, the back of the phone was no longer hot and the battery percent went up from 22% to 33%, it is continuing to charge now.If you are having this issue, I suggest you use this method to charge your phone until the bug is fixed. This is such a pain because if your using Sprint Navigation in the car and your battery is about to die,you cannot charge it.The phone will remain on after using a car charger to charge it but the battery percent wont increase and it will get really hot.I guess we have to charge the phone before every use from now on? Android 2.1 is a lot of bugs. They made us wait this long for it and they have still failed to fix the major issues that were supposed to be fixed with this update IMO.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got a little problem with my HTC Hero. I got it yesterday and plugged it in to PC at home and charging was fine. At work today when I took my phone out of a pocket I noticed that red light is flashing. I've connected it to my Mac at work and it doesn't seem to charge it what so ever. It has been connected to Mac's USB for about 30 minutes and red light is still flashing. Tried to turn it on but ON/OFF button doesn't work. How long it needs to be plugged in to start again? Is it a Mac issue?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone for a week now and today it developed something new. When I plug in the battery charger, the touch screen becomes almost entirely non-responsive. When I attempt to slide the Lock Screen away it either won't move or I can get it to slightly move but it bounces right back or even sticks halfway. If I unplug the charger and wait about a minute it's back to working fine again. I've removed the battery a few times now to see if this helped but nothing seems to help. It didn't do this till today. Anyone else run into this problem and if so how did you remedy it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hate charging my battery before it drains off. So if I wanted to stream music on the phone at work, do you think there is an app that'll disable battery charging if I have the phone plugged into power plug? basically draw juice from wall and disable battery from use or charge.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed this? Maybe I'm crazy, But it seemed took probably half the time to charge tonight then it did before. Is this a placebo effect or has anyone else noticed it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have this issue? I'm tethering using wireless Tethering for root users and it's murdering my battery. the usb port couldn't even keep the battery stable.I currently have it charging from the laptop turned off. Does this sound normal? Do I have something eating my battery up?
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe back of my phone feels hot when I've been charging it using the USB port on my computer , but with the normal mains charger it's fine (the *#*#4636#*#* battery status thing shows the battery temperature at 30 degrees after 30 mins of charging and the back feels hot also). I checked it was cool before I plugged it in, and it feels hot across the area where it says "with HTC Sense" in capital letters. Also, I'm using the "charge only" option on the phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently lost the charger and cable that came with the phone, and bought another one, but the actual connector is slightly different. When I plug my phone into my computer, I don't get anything, either on the phone or on the computer, except that the phone does start charging. I get no "start USB service" or whatever option in the phone and the phone does not show up as a drive. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I'm guessing it's the cable, but I'd like to confirm before going out and buying another cable.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Droid and I was wondering if I bought the X online, can my Droid charger fit the X? Is it the same cable or would I have to buy a cable for the X?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs most of you know, the Inc will drop 8-10% of its charge within 10 minutes of being taken of the charger with no use.I stumbled accross a different method for "bump charging" that does not require the phone being turned off. After I take my phone off the charger I let it do its dropping for no reason dance. At about 92% I plug the phone back in, turned on. Once it hits 100% I unplug it.After that second charge the phone will stay at 100% for an hour or so with no usage.I drive to work, about an hour, so I dont use the phone since its too early to talk to anyone.I left with 100% and when I got to work it was still at 100%. This is with my phone connected to HFL through bluetooth.
View 24 Replies View RelatedCan you use a blackberry micro usb cable for charging the phone anybody know? Can it be any brand of micro usb?
View 18 Replies View RelatedMy phone was rooted with Freshrom 2.1.2 then I recently unrooted my phone with the official sprint 2.1 because I was having usb charging problems. My phone charges fine with the AC adapter, but when I plug into a usb to charge it never does... the orange light comes on and my batt. indicator says it is charging but it never does. I've checked to make sure my status indicator says "Charge Only"... any ideas why I'm not charging via usb?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wanted to buy a extra micro usb cable for light charging at school and work and was wondering if there are any specifications for the kind I need. I've seen 4 pin and 5 pin versions and didn't want to get the wrong one.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was just sitting here on the couch, charging my phone, and messing around with the home screen. I tried longpressing on various icons, but it just immediately opened the program, instead of letting me move it somewhere else. It was like the screen was possessed, i'd barely touch it and it would act like i'd hit it twice, I tried to write a text but it was impossible because whenever I touched a letter it spit it out 2 or 3 times.
This is pretty obnoxious, true, I could just stop using it while it's charging...but why should I have to do that? Is something wrong with my phone? I've noticed this once before...but was busy with something else and forgot about it until today. I've only had this phone about 10 days now, and as far as I can tell that has happened twice. I took the charger in and out a few times, each time testing if the behavior was consistent, each time it was charging the screen is crazy, when it take the charger out it returns to normal.
where is the option to turn off the charging led? i cant tell if i have any texts or alerts when it is charging... i know it has got to be an option!
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have the phone still display notifications using the LED when he phone is charging? As it stands, charging the phone keeps the light solid.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it normal for the Sprint HTC Hero for the screen to stay on when the phone is charging?
View 8 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have or know of a good charging dock that is both functionally and aesthetically good? I've seen plenty on eBay and random accessory sites, but most of them are very square/blocky and very unattractive. I've also heard that the MyTouch 3G dock works, but doesn't fit perfectly so I'd like to stay away from that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was experiencing the poor battery life and have effectively implemented the work-around that includes disabling the stock Messages app. and installing and using a 3rd-party SMS app., Handcent. The work-around appears to be fully effective for me so far, so thanks to those who helped communicate it here on the forum (you know who you all are). I've noticed though, that when charging, my wake time percentage is in the 80th percentile, indicating that it's not fully sleeping while charging in an A/C outlet. First question: Does the phone not sleep while being charged? Second question: If not, can someone please provide some suggestions of things to look at that might be interfering with sleeping while being charged?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy screen blanks out after a couple of mins while charging and I have it set to stay awake while charging. Is it supposed to do this? I would really like to find a way to keep the screen on in the car.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason the notification led does not flash while the phone is charging when I have a new text, voicemail, etc. Is there an option somewhere that I am missing to change this? While charging, the LED stays a constant amber.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it okay to charge the Sprint HTC Hero with a Blackberry charger? They are both listed as using MINI-USB ports but when you look at the actual plug, they look different. The Blackberry charger does fit, and charges, but i was just wondering if anyone had any issues. I went to the sprint store and asked them, but they said that they "heard" it would mess things up. But obviously they just wanted me to buy a car charger from them.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI came from the BlackBerry world, and they have these great charging pods that you can set your device in and it charges it upright. Works great to just keep on your desk and keep the device charged throughout the day without having to plug and unplug a cable. Any good options for this phone?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI don't plan on upgrading phones for a while since I am pretty happy with this one, and I have been thinking about getting a charging cradle so it would keep the phone upright while charging. From what I understand, even with a dock/cradle this phone is not like some of the others that are on the market, so when you connect it to the cradle all it will do is charge. It won't display the clock, or weather, or anything along that line. So, buying a dock is pretty much a waste of money, right? Or is there a way to have it display that info upon cradle?
I know that the phone does come with a clock program, but it doesn't launch on connect which seems really pointless, unless there is a way to have the application launch. Plus, when it is displaying the time it doesn't bounce around the screen so I am kind of nervous about burning the screen in that area (like what would happen with old computer monitors/tv's).
I have my evo plugged into my computer via USB and I never got the screen asking what I wanted to do, i.e. use as disk drive, just charge, etc. I tried unplugging and plugging back it, still nothing. Also nothing in the notification bar. I've tried 2 different plugs and same thing happens. It's not showing up on my computer either but it is charging according the the phone. I'm trying to copy some movies onto my phone and now I can't because I can't make is a disk drive.
