I want to use my own message tone which I have on my phone as an mp3 file but cannot find out how to get it into the message notifacation list anyone know how to do this ?

In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
For some reason, ever since I upgraded my HTC Hero to the latest Rom today, I have received two message tones and notifications for every text message I receive. I don't know why this has started happening as no new apps have been installed apart from those that were erased during the upgrade.

My Gmail notification icon is an @ symbol, like the default mail app.
Unless I'm confused at one point I could have sworn that it was an M over a little envelope.
Is there a way to change this? or did it change when I had my phone updated to CL14?
When I use the dial pad the tones are short but when I call to my voicmail then bring up dial pad the tones on the dial pad (the numbers) are long. How do I fix this and make them like the normal short dial pad?

View 6 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero, 2.1 firmware, Handcent.I had Handcent installed even before the upgrade to 2.1 and when receiving an SMS message, there would be two notification tones. No problem at all on Email just the one notification tone but SMS seems to be the buggy object here.After the 2.1 upgrade, I'm still getting two notifications on SMS messages. And the two notifications thing still occurs WITHOUT Handcent its obviously because I have two different alerts set one for email and a different one for SMS and on receiving an SMS, BOTH tones play.is there a way to set up the notifications so that one tone plays for SMS notifications only, and the other plays for Email notifications only?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant from Bell, and I am not verry technical. I have some (maybe 10) additional apps installed since i got the phone, including advanced task killer.
My issue is this: when I get a new message, it appears in the blinds (the thing at the top?) like it is supposed to, but after I check the message, it stays there, saying I have the new message. I can clear it and it goes away, but shouldnt it dissapear after I check the text?
I also crash frequently, but I am thinking newer firmware will fix that
i know you all gona say that i should have used forum search which actually i did and i still cant find the answer of how to root (most resent or best methods). today i decided to go the way most of you went and root my galaxy so i could enjoy some of the features or customise the devise for it to be either faster or better somehow (particularly im interested in fixing HW acceleration of openGL). but my main problem is still that ADB doesnt show my device in the devices list after adb_devices command... i think ive tried everything: reinstalling drivers and NPS, SDK 1.5 r1 putting in debbuging, restarting phone even using USBdeview soft to uninstall all android and samsung drivers and try to make it work but still nothing... all day wasted, many forums read, downloaded KAM187s drivers and still nothing im on H8 firmware how to make adb recognise my phone and list it) plus i want some info on how to push this openGL fix on my phone after i root it (if ever) by the way tried on Windows 7 and XP sorry for making a new thread but i think im not the only one whose phone is not listed by adb as i read it on other forums.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with google talk on my gs. Whenever my friend says something to me her messages appear as offline messages. So if she sends a message it will be in a gray area with a date below (sent at 16:45). This wouldn't be much of a problem but they don't come chronological with my own messages. At first they all piled up at the top so I had to scroll up everytime to see if she had said something. But now I changed something and they seem to appear a few sentences above my own. Now I usually don't have to scroll up anymore but it's still pretty annoying.

Iphones and blackberrys all give you a notification when you receive a new email or a new facebook message. The galaxy s does nothing when you receive a new mail. In settings you can select a ringtone, set it to vibrate when you receive a message. But nothing happens. The only way to find out if there any new messages is by clicking on the email app ( in which i am using hotmail).
