View 1 RepliesSo my Vibrant has been freezing on me and then consequently restarting to the state right after the Galaxy S boot screen, where it shows no signal and searching for media on the SD, etc.
Today it did some really really weird stuff!
I was using Google nav and then all of a sudden the screen froze, but it didn't reset or anything. The screen it froze was not good looking either, it looks like it's faded with scan lines.
I attached a picture, sorry for the low quality, but only had a friend's Pre to document it before I had to do a battery pull. But you can see the scan lines on the screen faintly.
For some reason, ever since I upgraded my HTC Hero to the latest Rom today, I have received two message tones and notifications for every text message I receive. I don't know why this has started happening as no new apps have been installed apart from those that were erased during the upgrade.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I gave in and downloaded Hand cent for my Evo. Can someone tell me how to stop my other message application from sending messages. As it currently stands I'm getting 2 notifications each time a message comes through. Sorta annoying.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to keep messages from previewing on the screen even when it is locked? I have installed handsent and like it, i would like to eliminate HTC messages all together but dont want to root my phone. Is there another way to accomplish this. If phone is unattended anyone can see who is sending messages to me.

For the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI keep receiving a message from one of two numbers that i don't know. They always say KEEP THIS MESSAGE and then gives a IMEI number which is always the same. I don't want to reply to it and i just delete it but it is getting annoying now. Have installed Lookout but says my phone is clean.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate has been nothing but a pain. The GPS comes and goes and the response time is horrible with the touch screen (give me old-fashioned BUTTONS any day!) Now the 'message' alert continues to go off and I can't stop it; I finally had to mute it. I have rebooted and even removed the battery and it won't stop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I've had my Droid for about a week and a half now, and just starting yesterday, it keeps deleting my message history. The phone freezes up, the causes me to force close my messages and I have to restart the phone in order to get back in to my inbox. Any suggestions?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI just installed a new sms app and love it, the problem is that I can't get the proprietary message application on the Hero to stop retrieving all messages. It doesn't help to have cool features like blacklist, if you can't use them because the original app just logs the threads anyway. How do you turn off or uninstall the original message program, I would prefer to just get rid of it and free up the space. Any ideas???
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I receive a text message while on an active call, it plays the message tone at full volume - making it rather hard to hear the other person! Granted, this only happens occasionally ... but when it does it can be quite annoying. I've searched other threads and had a (what I consider to be ) a thorough look through the phones' settings, but I can't seem to find a way to stop it. Is this just an omission on the developers behalf? Or is there something I could change?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone have a workaround for this yet, sorry if it was already posted in a diffrent thread.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the following message.
Sorry The process com. Android phone has stopped unexpectedly please try again. Force close.
This seems to stop the HTC Internet widget from working. I keep replacing it but it still happens.
Okay -- so I finally mustered up the courage to root and try a lag fix. I rooted using the unleash the beast files. And then tried the lag fix over at XDA found here: xda-developers - View Single Post - [UTIL] One Click Lag Fix 2.0
I ran the lagfix_ext2, like the forum says -- it took about 10 minutes to do some things ...There was an error message in the middle saying that it had to stop the process. I said okay, but the process kept working, finished, and then rebooted. It booted up, and I downloaded quadrant again (it was gone for some reason), ran it, and only ran an 895 -- this is 16 points less than what i ran just using the unleash the beast. Should I try the lag fix again?
I picked up the Sprint HTC Evo. This is my first android phone and it's a big upgrade from the windows based HTC Touch Pro that I used to put up with. However, every single notification makes a massive, loud, Beep And I can't figure out how to turn the volume down on it, except to put the phone in vibrate mode. Windows had two volumes: one for system, and one for the ringer. That made a lot of sense.
I think my co-workers are going to get really angry with me if I don't figure this out soon. At first, it was just text messages, but now it's facebook and everything else. Can someone please tell me how to shut up this dumb robot?
I'm not sure what info I need to give you about this, but it's the launch version of the Evo, I did not change anything related to this problem - still using the default applications and such.
How do you stop receiving notifications from the stock message app when using handcent
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI rooted last weekend. After every missed call I keep getting a text message that says: If I call the second number (408-970-0000) (always the same) - it says "Our records indicate that you are calling from a SMS voice message equipped handset. If you have recently purchased a handset that does not contain this feature press 1, otherwise press 2." How can I make this stop?
View 11 Replies View RelatedJust installed Handcent and so far Im loving it. Way better texting app then what comes stock from HTC. However I do have a question. How do I stop the HTC app from popping up with text message notifications? Right now I get both the HTC and the Handcent notification at the same time when a text comes through.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got the milestone for my birthday, and love it, but now it has some issues. when I'm texting someone, they will send a message, and my phone will receive it over and over again. (a five message conversation turned into 164 messages overnite)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
When my EVO is charging it freezes as to become almost completely unusable. Finger presses, swipes, etc. are only barely registered, if at all. Multitouch completely doesn't work. The 4 buttons at the bottom rarely work.
The problem persists across multiple chargers, even the stock charger, and it doesn't matter whether I'm plugged in to the wall or into my PC via USB. But here's the confusing part: the problem only seems to occur when I plug in at work. I've never experienced the problem when charging at home. Is the voltage in my outlets at work somehow screwed up? Too much/little/inconsistent power?
I've only had my EVO for about 25 days, so should I try to exchange it? It would be a pain since I'm already rooted, customized, etc. but it would probably be worth the inconvenience if it would fix the problem.
Since we got the phones mine has been fine and my wife has had nothing but trouble. Her phone reboots all the time and freezes. We finally went to the Sprint store Friday and they determined hers was bad and sent her a new(refurb). We received it last night. We activate the new one and this one is worse. She has had it reboot 3 times today alone. It also keeps freezing on her.
Another strange issue the new phone is having is when she clicks on an email in the Gmail app the screen flashes like it is going to open the email and it just goes right back to the inbox.
Did she get 2 bad phones ? Now we have to go back to the Sprint store again. She also only receives one out of every three of my text messages.
Lately my phone has been freezing a LOT while texting. I'm using handcent. No fancy contact pictures, just simple iphone setup with black and white. I don't have a lot of apps on my phone, I have froyo, I don't have a lot of music on it, I mean.. I text a lot, but lately this slowdown has been pretty bad. Freezing every few minutes, locking up, having to lock the phone unlock it to work, sometimes having to reboot it.
