Okay, i love my Hero to bits and have been messing about with putting shortcuts here and there on my screen and i was just wondering, like on a pc desktop u can right click and change the name of a folder but can u do it on the hero? I don't like the word 'Handcen..' underneath my text icon, can u simply change it to 'SMS' or something?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I removed a widget and then went back to put it back on and got the msg there wasn't room. I played around a bit moving and removing items to make room. I learned that while there doesn't seem to be room for the widget, there is room for the "program" for the same app/function.So now I'm wondering, what is the difference between these three?Will one result in more or less battery drain? Is the widget quicker to launch it's program equivalent?Should I avoid placing one type on the home page?

For widgets I can delete the app If I don't want it anymore, but If i still need it how do i take it off.I added a mail shortcut on the home screen, and I haven't been using it since my e-mails are synced. I need the room on my home screen but can't delete it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading my Hero there has occurred a problem.When attempting to move or remove shortcuts the application starts.I press and hold the short cut i wish to move or remove on my home screen waiting for the little vibration and for the trash can to appear.But the short cut instead runs the application.Sometimes it works, sometimes not.This is a bit annoying.Anyone else have the same problem, or better yet have a solution?

I've been playing around with the App Organizer, and been putting things into folders. However, I am trying to do a few things.
Add shortcuts into the groups App Organizer creates, and/or create custom icons for Folders I put on the Home pages.
For example, I have 6 mail accounts (don't ask) and want to put them in a group called mail. Using AppOrganizer, I can only organizer the main mail icon into the group, I want to add the 5 other shortcuts I created for each account. OR I group them into a folder, but I want to change the folder icon to an envelope.
Also, anyone know any good apps that puts email notifications on the top taskbar?
How do you delete the widgets/shortcuts on the seven home screens. I accidentally put something on the same home screen twice and want to delete one of them. And how do you order them how you want them to be?
Then, how do I sync my iTunes library to the phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have (UNFORTUNATELY) an Orange branded/locked HTC Hero running the oh-so-old Android 1.5 ROM....what would happen if I tried updating it with the Sprint 2.1 ROM (if this is possible).If it's not possible / will brick my phone, does anyone have any idea when Orange will release the update (not even had the fabled pre-update update which the rest of Europe seem to have had or about to).As an aside, I will NEVER buy an HTC phone again after this s*** is over with. They may wonder why people want iPhones....Apple promise the iOS4 update...they deliver, on time with no malarkey about supposed different carrier versions. Counting the months till I'm out of contract and can sack off my HTC Hero.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday i found a HTC Hero lying around at the office, i asked by boss about it and he said that i could have it if i got i working.The problem is that when u turn it on, u will only see the "Hero logo" and get a small vibrator beep.This is anoying since the phone cant make a USB connection to my computer, so i cant use any official HTC flashing software, im therefore kinda limitet to placing files on the sdcard.

Its been perfectly fine since I installed it over a month ago, but recently my memory card corrupted and now I cannot download any apps off the market.I had an ext2 partition, so I reformatted my memory stick the exact same way it was before it corrupted. Even so, whenever I try to download items from the market they just get stuck on "Starting Download".I literally cannot download ANY apps

The password was not correct so it would not pull in my emails.I can't seem to find out how to go back into my pop3 settings since the HTC Hero email application will not let me view my previous settings to make changes.There must be a way, I am just not seeing it.Please help me with the correct procedure.It tells me to select my email account from the drop down screen in my created email account, so, I select the email address that it shows that I created.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hate the lock screen on the Hero, I know their is a way to turn it off, but i don't like getting a message and then the phone doing something in my pocket. Is their a way to extract the .apk of the lock screen from the droid, and just install it on the hero, I understand that the resolution on the hero is different, but hate the current lock screen, i have to slide it down 2-3 times for it to recognize. I downloaded lock 2.0 already on the market, its not bad. but it takes 3-4 seconds on my phone to actually give me the slide to unlock screen.

View 48 Replies View RelatedI dont know what "underclocked" means, but nonetheless the Droid's processing is a bit higher than the Hero's. And also,I know that the Arm Cortex A8 is a better processor than the Qualcomm's in the first place anyways.So, looking at those specs, is the Droid's processing power really that much more superior than the Hero's? Basically, I'm trying to get an idea of how much of the Droid's better performance is due to its processing power as opposed to its higher (and more efficiently coded, im assuming) Eclair OS.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI once had a samsung jet which was great but it was on orange and i wanted it on 3 because i recieved a better signal and wanted their push email. But when i put my three sim into my now unlocked Jet i found that i lacked 3's certificates and couldn't tether or get 3's push email.Anyway this made me decide to upgrade to a 3 hero to gain their functions however it seems their are no "certificate" needed and the hero seems to have its own push email service and can tether easily.SO my question is if i debrand my hero and thus can ugrade to 2.1 android will i still recieve free push email and be able to tether? as i guess if i change my rom it might be hard to go back.

I've been paying attention mostly to the Legend, because it was more similiar specs to the Hero than the Desire does. I've noticed that the new Sense seems to run very smoothly on the Legend with its 600MHz processor. Now, we all know that the Hero can be quite laggy at times, and we all want some performance increase from the update. But how much better really is the 600MHz processor than the Hero's 529MHz? Are the videos of the Legend a good portrayal of how Sense will perform on our Hero's?
