I just discovered this today, and it has been mentioned in part before but I thought I'd share myself because it is an extremely useful feature, not to mention i had seen posts in the past that claimed this was not possible.Any app that produces sound, be it NAV, Voicemail or the music player can stream through your BT earpiece. I discovered it when my phone pocket dialed a strange combination of '?9797**' I have no idea how to reproduce a '?'After some reading I found that ** or p (pause?) will open the BT connection. The easiest way to enable it is to save a call contact shortcut of 'p' on the home screen. Just hit that icon prior to using whatever app you want and it will play through the earpiece. Hit the icon again to close the connection so you dont run into battery issue.Note you can dial ** to achieve the same (which will change into a p) however it will not work if you create a contact with **, you must create it with a p

I've found some plugs for the iPhone online, but i wasn't sure if they would fit into the Hero very well, they don't look like they would from the pictures. Or if anyone knows an easy way to create your own plug that looks fairly decent that would be cool too. I checked around the forum here, but i wasn't able to find any info regarding this yet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got a htc hero and I am very impressed with the phone and the os as a whole but I am having one small issue. I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and when I go to pair them I get an error that says "There was a problem connecting to NS-BTHDP." (ns-bthdp == headphone name). The weird thing is, the phone says its connect to phone audio, even though I never entered in the passcode. So I go and try to listen to music/podcasts and it plays through the speak phone.. but if I go to make a phone call it goes through the headset.I have no idea what the problem is, as these worked fine on my old gen2 ipod touch.Does the hero have limited bluetooth connectivity, or are the headphones not compatible? I would like to know more about the error, does android os have an error log that I can look at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay so sometime yesterday my headphone jack just stopped working; the sound would only come out of the phone even with a headphone plugged in. I took the headphones out, turned it off, and turned it back on. Working again, no problem. Now today, I'm listening to music and realize I'm only getting sound out of one earbud. I thought it was weird for a headphone to blow out since I just recently got it in March, but I figured it must've just been that - a blown out earbud. However, my friend tried his headphones in there just to make sure, and the same thing happened. He wasn't getting sound out of his left (or right, not sure) earbud. I've tried turning it off and on with the headphones out, the headphones in, as well as downloading that headphone jack toggler from another thread I found on here. Same problem. :/ Is my headphone jack done for? Am I gonna have to get it replaced? Will the basic warranty even cover something like this? I guarantee I didn't drop it or get it submerged in water or anything...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Blaupunkt Melbourn car stereo with the Blaupunkt USB/Bluetooth Interface installed in my car and it used to work just fine with my Sprint Mogul and Touch Pro, but I can't seem to make it work with my Hero. When I pair the two, the radio only recognizes the Hero as an audio source and not as a phone. In other words, I assume I can stream music from the phone to the radio but I can't answer the phone with it. I should add that the connection icon shows up as audio headphones instead of a phone handset in the Bluetooth Devices screen.And this is just the opposite of what I need. I could care less whether I can stream music, but I need to be able to use the car radio as a hands-free device and as I wrote in the last paragraph, the radio worked perfectly in that capacity with my last two phones.So does anyone have any idea whether this is a phone problem or a stereo problem? Does anyone have any idea if there's a work-around? For that matter, does anyone have any helpful information at all?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Back Beat stereo bluetooth headset for my HERO. After listening for a few days I got a warning stating that my internal memory was getting low. Soon after that, I could not receive text anymore. I did a hard reset on the phone and the memory was restored, but this is the only way I could get the memory to come back. Is there any way to restore the internal memory without doing a hard reset and loosing everything?

I have a nandroid backup of several roms where I had it installed, can I copy it over to this ROM somehow? And why can't it install it? Is it protected?

I'm sure I'm not the only one, at least I hope I'm not, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that in the beginning. My question is, is this a network type thing? Or is it a memory/space type thing. I'm 90% on the wifi, and I would hope its a network thing because the lag online is becoming really annoying.

I take my phone everywhere with me, usually on my hip in a holster of some type. The headphone jack on the Dinc represents a substantial port of entry for dirt and moisture. I know I had an LG flip phone years ago that make with a rubber plug to prevent such substances from entering.
I am hoping that someone here has a solution for the Dinc, and hopefully available at say, Lowes, instead of ordering a $0.10 piece of rubber off the internets. It doesn't have to be a "headphone jack plug" per se, but something that will work just the same?
I was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC hero on Orange last week and it's great - everything worked great, but after a day the headphone jack stopped working: when I plug in the headphones they aren't recognised by the device, eg : music will carry on playing on the speaker instead of playing in headphones. Happens with other headphones too not just the supplied ones. I've reset the device with factory settings but no joy. Was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? Orange have agreed to exchange the device but only when they have new devices in stock later on in the week. Was wondering if a firmware re-install might fix it but not sure how to do it and if would be a waste of time if it's a hardware issue.

So before plugging in the headphone, I have to manually turn down the volume. And also I have to remember to revert it back to normal level when the headphone is unplugged. Is there an app to do it automatically? Or am I the only one here?

It doesn't look like there are many brands that officially support the HTC Hero's bluetooth functions. I want to be able to make and receive calls from the head unit or, at the very least, patch my phone calls through the car speakers for handsfree use. I would love to hear if anybody has managed to get their Hero working with any particular car stereo brand/model.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Modaco 2.0 and I used EncoderHD to encode some videos to watch on the bus to work.The conversion went great and a quick glance before I took off this morning showed a wonderful, smooth playback with no issues whatsoever.On the bus, I get as comfortable as one could get on a bus, flick on the Hero, start the "Album" and select my video... only to experience about 2-3 seconds of Audio/Video sync issues.what?It didn't take much testing to figure out that everything works great with the speakers and wired headsets but when I connect my bluetooth stereo headset (I have the Samsung WEP870 and the SE HBH-IS800) the sync issues start.Has anyone else experienced this or similair issues? Is there a solution? If not, do we think it's a solvable issue ( I don't have this issue on my Touch HD, but then again, the playback is far from being as smooth)
View 1 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?

If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
