HTC Hero :: ROM Upgrade / App Starts On Moving Shortcuts

After upgrading my Hero there has occurred a problem.When attempting to move or remove shortcuts the application starts.I press and hold the short cut i wish to move or remove on my home screen waiting for the little vibration and for the trash can to appear.But the short cut instead runs the application.Sometimes it works, sometimes not.This is a bit annoying.Anyone else have the same problem, or better yet have a solution?

Strange behavior on my Sprint Hero - apps I haven't asked to start, suddenly appear in my Tasklist, after sitting on a charger for extended periods of time... Example: Today, while the phone was sitting on my desk and I had just force-closed a few apps, the Navigation, Calendar and Clock apps all started to run. The phone screen was off, sitting on a table and I had just confirmed that NONE of those apps were running before I turned off the phone.
Is this a bug in the Hero overall, just the SpLint implementation or something with just my phone?

Okay, i love my Hero to bits and have been messing about with putting shortcuts here and there on my screen and i was just wondering, like on a pc desktop u can right click and change the name of a folder but can u do it on the hero? I don't like the word 'Handcen..' underneath my text icon, can u simply change it to 'SMS' or something?

Basically when connecting my phone to my car's aux in socket, the music player starts up & plays over whatever else is happening. As an example, if I want to listen to a podcast on Beyondpod, the moment it starts playing, the music player kicks in & plays whatever track was last being played. I use Taskiller to close it down but it's starts up again after a few mins or even seconds. It also occasionally dials the last number I called, just to really wind me up. It also occasionally does this when watching a video with headphones in.

I have taskiller and it seems that I have to always close programs and they wont stay off. Is there a better program out there that I can get to pick and choose what starts up when I turn the phone on?
My main issue with this is my camera. I have to turn off almost all of my programs in order to use my camera smoothly other wise its all choppy and sucks!

So I removed a widget and then went back to put it back on and got the msg there wasn't room. I played around a bit moving and removing items to make room. I learned that while there doesn't seem to be room for the widget, there is room for the "program" for the same app/function.So now I'm wondering, what is the difference between these three?Will one result in more or less battery drain? Is the widget quicker to launch it's program equivalent?Should I avoid placing one type on the home page?

It's very easy to add shortcuts or widgets onto the home screen but I can't find how to delete them. For widgets I can delete the app If I don't want it anymore, but If i still need it how do i take it off.I added a mail shortcut on the home screen, and I haven't been using it since my e-mails are synced. I need the room on my home screen but can't delete it.

In the last hour I have noticed that I can no longer delete app shortcuts from Home Screens. If I click and hold on the icon, after a secon, it opens the app when it use to allow me to drag it into trash... any ideas ?

This is a strange problem, Whenever I plug in & unplug my ear piece my music starts playing (ringtones I have downloaded) How do I stop this? Seems to happen almost every time I unplug my ear piece, Its anoying! And sometimes it will start playing them when i plug it in also. It happened once when I was on a call and I lost the call because of it..

Is there anyway to rename a shortcut on any of the Scenes? i.e., I have the built in "Voice Dialer" on my main home screen and its listed as "Voice Dial..." which for some reason is bugging the crap out of me.

There is some annoying problem when I receive call- the phone starts ringing on the third free signal of the opposite side. When is in active mode, it rings almost immediately, but once it get into sleep mode, then this problem appears...why is this call lag?

How to - create custom icons for folders or add shortcuts into App Organizer Groups
I've been playing around with the App Organizer, and been putting things into folders. However, I am trying to do a few things.
Add shortcuts into the groups App Organizer creates, and/or create custom icons for Folders I put on the Home pages.
For example, I have 6 mail accounts (don't ask) and want to put them in a group called mail. Using AppOrganizer, I can only organizer the main mail icon into the group, I want to add the 5 other shortcuts I created for each account. OR I group them into a folder, but I want to change the folder icon to an envelope.
Also, anyone know any good apps that puts email notifications on the top taskbar?

Following on from my frankly rather successful thread about 2.2 ROMs I'm finally going to change up from 2.1 to 2.2 (also aided by the SD card problems I'm having...) and I just wanna check something because, frankly, I don't know much about the whole rooting thing.
My phone's already been rooted, if I press Home + Power I can get to the recovery as usual, do I just need to format my SD card, copy a new image onto the SD card named as update.zip and then go like that?
I keep seeing mentions of launchers and different kernels and, well, it confuses me.

I have not seen this question asked yet. I would like to move my Gmail contacts to my phone, i.e. to the smartcard, so that if I delete the contacts from Gmail, they are not automatically deleted from the phone (I don't trust my personal info on a public server). Is there any way to do this with retyping?

In preparation for the release of the official HTC 2.1 ROM, can I have come advise on how I go about changing from the Villain Rom 5.3 that I'm currently running to the new official one?
Will I need to re-install the original 1.5 ROM and then wait for the OTA update to arrive, or will I be able to download it off the web and install it on the phone via my PC?

I got my HTC Hero yesterday. I want to upgrade to 2.1 But apparently it's not out yet, i also think it should help to run the new 3D Games.I'm getting a 8GB Card later on today and want to know how to ROOT my HTC Hero, if i need to to install 2.1.I heard this is the best ROM in this video.

I got my Hero 3G (the one with the chin) a few days ago and I just noticed that when I tap the back of the phone near the camera or when I bounce it on my bed, I hear a tiny sound like there is something loose inside the phone. Is this normal? Is it something like a motion detector with a moving part for instance?

I noticed while playing xgalaga that the shooter kept stopping while moving it left and right with the trackball. It turns out that you have to press the trackball very slightly while rolling it for the movement to properly register. Is that normal?

I'm a newbie with the Hero so please excuse my ignorance. On the link provided by the 3 website the Rom upgrade available is ROM version 2.73.405.5 but the one on my phone is 2.73.771.62. Now I'm assuming that the bigger the number, the more recent the software. Am I right with this and if so, am I correct in thinking I don't need to upgrade the ROM?
