How to - create custom icons for folders or add shortcuts into App Organizer Groups
I've been playing around with the App Organizer, and been putting things into folders. However, I am trying to do a few things.
Add shortcuts into the groups App Organizer creates, and/or create custom icons for Folders I put on the Home pages.
For example, I have 6 mail accounts (don't ask) and want to put them in a group called mail. Using AppOrganizer, I can only organizer the main mail icon into the group, I want to add the 5 other shortcuts I created for each account. OR I group them into a folder, but I want to change the folder icon to an envelope.
Also, anyone know any good apps that puts email notifications on the top taskbar?

Can you change the folders to be icons? I did it on the Moment with an open home icon pack, but I cant seem to do it on my Hero.

I bought a new 8gb transcend class 6 for my hero and took out the old card and put the new one in and formatted it. Looked at the original 2 gb card and has lots of folders. Question is: do I have to copy and paste the old folders to the new card or will the phone automatically set up new folders? Phone's relatively new so I don't care about the existing photos and whatnot and do I create specific folders myself i.e. mp3, pics, etc.

I just rooted my phone and I know you can download icon packs and use better cut to specify what icon you want for a specific application, I was just wondering if there is an easier way to just load the icon pack and it will somehow replace the current default icons?
I also was wondering if there is any way to "theme" the notification bar. I would really like to make it transparent, but I don't want to use open home or ahome. I am sure there is an image sitting somewhere that I can change? I just rooted my phone a few hours ago.

Ok, so I've been hearing alot about these custom roms and was wondring what it was. What can you do with a custom rom? And how do you create one? I am wanting this Sprint HTC Hero to run so much quicker then 528mhz I want something more snappy and less lagging. I don't know how to root my phone.

I've seen a few posts about this but nothing to say definitively (thank god for spell check!) if it's possible or not. On my HTC Legend (HTC Sense with Android 2.1) if you go to add and folder from a homescreen you have a choice of All people, Facebook Phonebook, Phones, Starred (Favorites). Is it possible to create another folder that will hold members of a contact group that I have created? I can create a new empty folder but don't know how to put contacts into this instead of other home screen icons (this would do if I can't use contact groups).

Is it possible to create folders in the all "programs list", so that i can organise the donloaded apps. i know you can create folders on the home screen but i would really like the option to create them in the "all programs menu".

I can use folder organizer to change icons for my apps but cannot for the life of me figure out how to put my own icons on folders i create, Can this be done? Does anyone know of a how to? I blame the "show us your desire home screen" thread which has kept me non stop changing my screen and icons etc for weeks now, damn u android and your awesome ways.

I recently bought a hero and am disappointed that i can only add one custom group and am unable to delete or rename the ones that came with phone. Most group names that came with phone don't work for me. Anyone using an app to give more customization of groups and contacts that will sync up the same as stock app.

Strange curious thing, but, in All Contacts, even in Google, the contacts I have in Groups like Family aren't showing. I have to actually go into that contact set to get them to show. I would have thought that All Contacts, would have actually been all not some.

I'm trying to customize the contact icons in the app 'Folder Organizer' and seem to be having trouble. Is it even possible to create contact icons in that app? I don't want to see the default blue & white icons, but either the Facebook icons in my address book or simply ones I choose myself.

So I removed a widget and then went back to put it back on and got the msg there wasn't room. I played around a bit moving and removing items to make room. I learned that while there doesn't seem to be room for the widget, there is room for the "program" for the same app/function.So now I'm wondering, what is the difference between these three?Will one result in more or less battery drain? Is the widget quicker to launch it's program equivalent?Should I avoid placing one type on the home page?

In the last hour I have noticed that I can no longer delete app shortcuts from Home Screens. If I click and hold on the icon, after a secon, it opens the app when it use to allow me to drag it into trash... any ideas ?

I am wanting to change the icons for a lot of my apps on my home screens. I have been looking at BetterCut, Apps Organizer, and Folder Organizer. Now Apps Organizer is free and Folder Organizer has a free trial version, but Better cut is not free not does BetterCut have a free trial version.
Please tell me what you like/dislike about the apps, primarily BetterCut and Folder Organizer (paid).
*How do they run?
*Are there any major bugs?
Is it easy to change the icons for apps on my home screens?
*Is BetterCut really worth $2?
*Is Folder Organizer really worth $1.35?
Are any of these going to meet my needs of wanting to change the icons on my home screens?
*Are the icons dependant on the app that changed them (in other words, if I uninstall BetterCut after changing an icon, will the icon still be what I changed it to, or will it go back to the default icon)?
*If you had $2 and could only choose one of these apps to change the icons on your home screen, which would you choose?
I am going to play around with the two free versions of these apps and see if I like them, but unfortunately, BetterCut is an all or nothing app. I just don't want to feel like I wasted any money because the app ended up not doing what I wanted it to do.

I recently rooted my Epic 4G following this guide: joeykrim-SDX Permanent Root for Epic (and Verizon Fascinate).I then went ahead and removed some of the "bloatware" applications using this guide here: [GUIDE] How to Remove Pre-Installed Apps for FREE - xda-developers.I did successfully root my phone, and the applications I removed are no longer there, but now the shortcuts that can be placed in the Home (or any section) no longer remain after I shutdown the phone. Widgets and Folders on the other hand do get saved by the phone and remain after a reboot.Is there something that I may have removed that shouldn't have been? and if so is it easy to recover? Would a custom ROM fix this situation? Or is there a program that I can use to restore all the default applications (without un-rooting).

I've played with some app organizer apps, but I am wondering if there is one that allows adding folders "inside" the drawer, i.e., not on one of the three home screens. Something that you can have as many folders as you want with whatever you want to name them. any thoughts?

I have a new Sprint Hero and really like it so far I have Comcast set up as POP email and it seems to work fine However, I only see 4 available folders: Trash, Drafts, Sent, Outbox. Is there a way to set up a Folder / sub folders to save email in?

New to this forum. Just bought my Hero the other day and am loving it! As a die-hard Apple fan who's stuck with Sprint, I'd say the Hero get's high marks in my book.Anyway, I'm a MobileMe subscriber and have all my various email addresses funneling down to my MobileMe account. I set up the Mail app to retrieve email from my MobileMe account via IMAP but am having a bit of trouble with the Sent and Trash folders.The Android Mail client is creating a secondary Sent and Trash folder even though "Sent" and "Trash" already exist in MobileMe. I noticed that there's also a Deleted Messages and Sent Messages folder as well in the Android Mail client.I tried out the K-9 Mail client which allows you to remap the folders (I remapped Sent to Sent Messages and Trash to Deleted Messages), but I'm not a big fan of K-9 and love how the default Mail app works.Does anyone know how I might be able to remap folders or get the Sent/Trash folder in the Android Mail client to map to the Sent/Trash folder in MobileMe?

When I mount my phone there are a lot of deferent folders that I have no idea what they are for, even empty ones. How could one manage their folders and content in those folders to minimize usage on the SD card? Example: I have repeated sound effects that I have downloaded. If I go to assign a notification sound it shows three or four of the same sound. Also, repeated picture folders.

When adding a new folder, it simply states: "Folder" Is it possible to give a folder a name? Modify the name of a folder? Re-name the folder? Once items are dragged into folders, can they be taken out? Dragged out? Deleted while in the folder? Seems I have to delete the entire folder and start over.

Does anyone know if there is a way to rename the icons/shortcuts for apps? Do these icons reside in a folder within root somewhere? I wonder if renaming the icons/shortcuts would allow us to reorganize the way they are sorted in the app tray (since it is alphabetic).
