I recently installed the new security patch that came out around the release of the EVO because I was unaware of what it entailed. However this battery life problem has become sickening and I would really love to root my phone and get rid of all this sprint trash on my phone.

View 49 Replies View Relatedran into a little problem yesterday when i was going back and forth between roms. i usually wipe before restoring nandroid but this time i ran into the error nandroid adb thing. i was able to get into rom manager and flash clockwork recovery and then flash back RA_v1.6.2 to restore my nandroid but i was wondering whats the BEST and NEWEST recovery image out right now? i dont want to run into this problem again. i thought i broke my phone! lucky i searched on here and someone said to reinstall the recovery image which is what i did and it worked!

Now switching to the Hero (love it by the way), I am trying to figure out if there is a way to filter the email that comes to my new phone.On BlackBerry, you could go to options, security and firewall. There you could choose to have email only come to your phone if was from someone in your contact list. Basically keeps all junk out.Is there anything similar to this on the Hero, or an app anyone knows of that can do this, or close?This is the main reason I quit using WinMo phones and went to BB.

I was able to resolve the issue the first time by using Lockpicker. I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

And also, some things to think about: remember that the Hero only runs class 2 speeds, even if the card is class 6. Do you think this will change once we receive Android 2.1? Because if not, I would imagine that the phone would be slow opening apps (assuming apps to SD will be available).I know that if they do program the Hero to allow class 6 speeds, and allow apps to SD (without root) then the Hero could run MUCH faster than it does now.

I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..

Okay so i did the the unrevoked method of rooting my htc hero and it worked fine for a couple months however one morning my phone reset it self and the superuser permissions icon in the apps tray was gone. I tried running through the steps to root it again (How to root your CDMA HTC HERO running Android 2.1 (Windows) | MacHackPC) but the superuser icon never came back. I'm not sure what to do, I even tried pressing the on button and the home to select flash from recovery and that didn't work either. any idea how i can get my phone re-rooted?

Ive tried using the adb push command from my pc but it says that it couldnt because its a read-only file system. (lost me there!) Is it possible to install it by flashing a zip of it from recovery like a rom. Im kind of stuck here, I have no way of installing new apps....

The problem I ran into though was installing a new ROM - going through the initial set up I was not able to see any any of the text that I was typing. Trying to set up my Google account was impossible because the email field just stayed blank no matter how many times I would press a letter.
Now I had this same problem months ago when I tried rooting before, and just like this time I did try installing the ROM a couple of times. However, after it not working I gave up and installed the Sprint Stock RUU.
I have rooted and installed the fresh rom with gumbo on my sprin hero my wife has a cellular south hero and wants me to do the same for hers i was wondering if there was a simple guide to doing this the step by step guide for sprints hero was cool and easy to use.

I woke this morning to find 2 of them were stuck installing and one was downloading. I was able to cancel the downloading one and download and install it. The others are still stuck labeled 'installing' and I can't find any way to cancel or make them proceed. Any suggestions?

Now I rebooted and I have the screen with the android on a skateboard and it says cyanogen(mod).
