My Hero show new messages in the notification bar but occasionally when I open a text from the notification area it opens a blank page and deletes it from the messages list. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Currently I have over 2700 texts in one thread and as a result the messages app is seriously slow. But when I try to delete them the messages app crashes/freezes and even after killing the task it does not sort itself so I am forced to reboot.How the hell do I delete these!? Is there another way or do I need to wait for the next software update that I care about? The lag is the least of the issues, I believe this is also causing SMS Popup to crash (now uninstalled) but I really love this app.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a new HTC Hero, on T-Mobile in the UK. Have set it up ok, have a Mac at home, which syncs with goggle cal ok, which then syncs with Hero. Have tried creating appointments on all 3 and they sync fine, but if I delete an appointment on the Hero its not updating the goggle calendar.
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMost of the people I keep in touch with live hours away, and while phone calls definitely have their place most of the time I just like the convenience of texting.The problem is that Android phones seem to have a difficult time deleting more than a couple hundred or so texts at a time.I experienced this with my Hero actually ended up getting rid of it after a few months because each time I tried to delete more than 100 texts or so it would freeze, reboot, and then RESEND random old texts to people.A dozen at a time.People were starting to think I was losing my mind, and I ended up getting rid of the phone.(sort of a funny problem now that I look back on it)At least the Evo hasn't sent random texts to people yet.It just throws a temper tantrum and completely refuses to delete large threads.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHad my desire for about 4 months now, tres happy with it, one of the first apps i downloaded to use instead of the stock was Handcent for SMS.Today I take it out to send a text and the conversation screen is blank!Can't find texts anywhere - including if I go into the traditional 'messaging'.And then to top it off, I send a text to my sister and it goes to my wife!? Despite the conversation window showing the correct name and profile photo.Anyone else had any issues with Handcent? Reading other posts, I now know that its also a battery drainer, so I'll be uninstalling it, but I'd like me messages back first!

However, nothing happens when I press "menu" and then "delete thread".
I am suspecting this might have something to do with the length of the thread - it consists of nearly 1800 text messages so perhaps the phone just crashed due to the shear size.
I'd rather not want to delete one and one single SMS.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhad the hero on its UK release date, only just starting to realise that I dont actually receive all my texts off people.Ive had texts of people saying 'did you get my text last night' or 'why havnt you replied' so I still receive texts off these people but seem to miss a few occasioanlly.Rang Orange who dont seem to have it listed as a widespread fault, theres no firmware update available for this model yet either.Orange are sending me a replacement handset so I will see if that helps but Im starting to wonder if other people are getting this, its not obvious straight away that its happening, Im only now starting to get people saying that I dont seem to be getting their texts sometimes, when I try to recreate the issue I cant.All the people seem to be on O2 that I randomly dont receive texts from
View 49 Replies View RelatedGot yahoo working on my hero by putting android before imap.Only thing is there is no option to leave messages on the server. Done a test and if I delete from the phone it goes from the server too. Dont want hundreds of emails building up for eternity on the handset.. Hotmail works fine, deletes from handset only as options allow.

There does not seem to be any easy way to "Delete Old Events" like most phones have.It seems that ancient events continue to stay in memory unless you individually, one-by-one, go through and painstakingly delete each one.

I just got my HTC Hero on sprint yesterday and I have all the vibration setting ticked but it never vibrates when i get a new text. It only vibrated once when i was on the phone and got a message. How do I fix this?

When I switch the phone to vibration only, it shuts down my vibration for my email/texts. Besides having to turn down the volume (which I often forget to turn it back!), are there any apps out there that will suit my needs? Perhaps have both a ringer and an email/text option?

For widgets I can delete the app If I don't want it anymore, but If i still need it how do i take it off.I added a mail shortcut on the home screen, and I haven't been using it since my e-mails are synced. View 2 Replies View RelatedI got HTC Sync set-up to sync up my outlook calendar and contacts. ran it through, and other than truncating address fields to 25 chars, it all worked fine. But then I ran it again, to cehck it was all ok giong forwards (ie expecting no updates), and it:Deleted 32 of my 200 contacts (seemingly at random) from Outlook - left them on the phone. If I manually replace them oon Outlook then duplicates are created on the phone on next sync. Altered 3 recurring appointments (birthdays, 3 out of about 40 in my calendar) in Outlook so that instead of running from midnight to midnight (ie all day events) they run from 23:00 to 23:00, and hence show up over two days. Claimed to have updated a handful more contacts, though I can't see what may have changed. how to avoid? Number 2 is particularly odd. I'm guessing it's something to do with daylight saving, but why only 3 of 40? I've checked the settings against other non-affected appointments, and can see no difference!
