This is not polling for re-flashing a ROM or flashing a new ROM for fun or out of curiosity; I'd like to see a poll of rooters who messed up something and needed to either re-flash their zip file and start over or had to find and go to another ROM because the current one just was not working.

I'm able to get into the recovery mode but I have no Roms or anything to upload. I had a SD card damaged and reformatted it and lost everything. I do have a back up SD files on my computer but I just don't know how to load it, since my laptop is not reading the USB connection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was running aloysius v12, tried flashing purehero 2.1, and got stuck on the white skateboarder boot screen. Pulled battery, tried recovering my nandroid backups, (use clockwork mod), and whenever I try recovering my backups, i get a "Error while flashing boot image!" message, and it stops.
I've tried flashing just the regular Aloysius2.0v12 file, not a backup, and i get:
Copying files...
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line 10:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
Installation aborted.
The only thing I can do from here is try to flash something else, or reboot. I can't get past the recovery screen.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Someone told me to install amon ra instead of clockwork, and to flash a new rom from there, but I don't know if that'll be the right way to go about it or even how to do that. Sorry for being such a noob, and i'm sure this problem is in a thread somewhere else but i looked all over and couldn't find it.
I just rooted to KaosFroyo and am really liking it. I'm pretty new to all of this, but it went pretty painlessly. I did all the nandroid backups and was able to recover the one app I wanted.
However, I can't figure out if there's a simple way to get my photos back from my old rom. My contact photos (that I had taken with the phone camera) are still here...

In this article they make mention of the processor architecture being the reason, does this mean that even after root and some hacking it will never work? Or is that just Adobe's excuse? View 20 Replies View RelatedI have rooted Eris, but am just running the standard ROM thing that came with GRDLOCK's script. Tried out EE 2.1 I think, but kinda crashed a lot on me, and froze up a bunch, so I just went back to the nandroid backup of the basic and stuck with it. That was like 2 months ago, and I thought maybe now, I should actually try out a real ROM. Now that EE 3.0 is up, I want to give it another shot. The question in all this crap is if I need to flash EE 2.0, and 2.1 to flash 3.0?

I am finding myself flashing my phone several times a day. Tweaking roms moving ring tones or other things that one rom may not have. I am wondering am I going to burn out my phone doing this???? LOL I just can't settle on the perfect combination. The most consistent ROM for me yet has been Evil Eris 3.0 but the GPS doesn't work. I loved White Widow but a day after install it started lagging badly. I want KaosFroyo but I have to have a working camera. And my favorite keyboard is the HTC_IME_mod!!!! And all the roms don't have this one.

I was asked to press action and update like I did the first time I rooted but after it was finished I tried to go and flash a ROM it just brought me to a screen with an android robot and a triangle with an exclamation point. Today I decided to try out ClockworkMod's recovery because I had heard that it will install packages without a signature. So I flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install any new Roms such as Evil Eris 4.0, nothing happened. It just would reboot into the stock ROM.
