View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone rooted and got the root image to load and did all that fun stuff but now im trying to get the recovery and flash image and i cant get it to work. i think SDK is the issue. i go to the command prompt and type in what the guide says and it saying "error device not found" i even did the all in one install on the guide page and it comes up with the same message.... does anyone have the slightest idea of how to get this worked out. im running windows xp with service pack three.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI looked over at the instructions and it says all you data will be wiped. So rooting will likely be the absolute first thing I do. After you root its stated you can flash custom roms. Can someone go more in depth on this? Will Sense not work anymore once the phone is rooted? Any other points of interest that is worth noting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post on this forum. I am on the fence about getting the HTC Droid Incredible and the Droid X. It would be a lot more palatable if I there was an HTC Sense rom I could flash onto the Droid X. Is there anything of this sort in development or around?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried wireless Tethering via Bluetooth with the PDANet App and it was an utter failure...i'd get a connection but it was up and down every 5-10 minutes...I can get a solid connection when tethering over USB with PDAnet...But that sucks as it only seems to work with the Charging cable that came with the Eris and not the HUNDREDS of other usb cables i have laying around....
So everyone said...'ROOT!' Its easy to wirelessly Tether when you 'Root!'
you can even use your phone as a hotspot...
So i thought 'Cool, i'd really like to be able to use it as a hotspot!'
I used this rooting system Universal 1 Click Eris App Apk - No PCs, No Scripts Needed, EASY
Noted i now have a new app called 'SuperUser Permission'
Downloaded 'Wireless Tether' from the App store...Set all Permissions on the phone
my Netbook detects NOTHING!
WTF am i doing wrong? It still works under pdanet...ALL i care about is using my phone as a Wireless/wifi hotspot, thats it!
I want the flash 10.1 on my htc eris so I assume that I need froyo 2.2. Is there a guide to do this or will the eris get flash 10.1 soon?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the Eris doesn't have a flash is there anyway to take good night/dark photos? All the good "kodak moments" happen at night.
View 32 Replies View RelatedOne of the big things I was looking forward to with 2.1 was full flash support. But, as we should have expected, thats a no go for 1st gen phones. In this article they make mention of the processor architecture being the reason, does this mean that even after root and some hacking it will never work? Or is that just Adobe's excuse? No Flash 10.1 for 1st gen Android phones
View 20 Replies View RelatedI've decided to try Rooting my phone following the UNIVERSAL Eris Root guide for Dummies up at the top of the forum. However, my phone is on 2.1. Can I still root it, or do I need to find a way to go back down to 1.5, and if so, how do I do that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been back and forth about rooting and am nearly ready to take the leap but I have one last question before I make a final decision. When you root and flash new ROMs. I know you have to reload your apps and other settings but do you have to reprogram your phone through VZW every time? I know myself that I would go through several ROMs trying to find one that fits perfectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently on 2.1v2 and was wondering could I root from it or rooting is only a 1.5 deal?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there an App (similiar to droidmod for the droid) that you can download for the Eris that will do all the dirty work, and root the phone for you?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently rooted via the 1-click method and I now want to try a custom ROM. I've tried to read many, many posts but I still have some questions.
1. I'm still not quite clear on how much will be "wiped out" when I flash a new ROM. Is it similar to when I did the OTA 2.1 upgrade? Will I lose all of my installed apps?
2. I thinking of trying xtrSENSE. In looking through the info for that ROM, it's a bit hard to distinguish what's current info and what's info that has evolved over time as the different releases have come out. Is there a single, reliable place to go and be sure I'm getting just the latest info?
3. When I did the 1-click process, I got confused about when to use Vol Up+Power and Vol Down+Power. Can someone explain what each one is for? For example, when I used one of them (can't remember which) I got a screen which I did not really understand. It said "HBOOT" and a number of other things on it. Is there an explanation of this screen somewhere?
4. I assume "personal" data on my SD card is safe? For example, photos? Or is there the chance I will lose all of that too?
5. How about SMS messages? Do I need to back those up too if I don't want to lose them?
"HTC Eris 1 Click Root App" for Erises on 2.1 is a free to try app which asks for a donation to a youth out reach program from "CTS."
I unrooted my Eris and used this app to reroot it and it worked fine with no glitches.
A nice alternative to other rooting methods for the Eris.
I have been searching much of the day and while I've found several threads about 2.2 roms and rooting I have not found a tutorial or guide for rooting an Eris with 2.1 on it or for installing a 2.2 rom such as kaosfroyo. Can someone point me in the right direction?
My wife currently has and Eris with the OTA 2.1 upgrade and we would like to see if a 2.2 version would make it run better.
I'm currently running stock 1.5. I'm seriously considering rooting my phone. I've got a decent bit of Linux experience, so I doubt I'll mess anything up too awful bad.
Any good reason to wait on the 2.1 OTA rather than root now? Has anyone rooted and wished they didn't? I know most of the benefits, I'm wondering about the risk.
Getting my replacement tomorrow and i am rooting. How will i know if my phone will have the OTA 2.1 or a possibly v3 leak?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid Eris from this website. How to Root the HTC Droid Eris and install Android 2.1 SoftSailor. It is on the 2.1 software now
Here are my questions:
Is it even rooted? How am I supposed to know? Why is my phone becoming so laggy with calling features? How do I completely unroot my droid Eris? What if the official OTA update comes out and I want it?
If I happen to sell my SD card will my Eris remain rooted? Or will everything just go back to stock since I don't have the card in my phone anymore? Also, what would a fair price be for a used Scandisc 16 GB SD card? I have it listed for $35. Too high? Too low?
View 1 Replies View RelatedKinda wish I had just rooted my 1.5 and then gone 2.1 instead of the 2.1 v2 leak now... Is there any update on how to go back? Or is there any word on them rooting 2.1 v2?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am following the steps of this walkthrough. I have now completed parts two and 3 however during step 3 it asks to enter these in a command prompt.
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
After entering these I get a message saying
"flash_image": not found
At the end of step 3 is that what is supposed to happen? From this I gather that the partition has not been created. Is it safe to go on to step 4?
Looking for a few tips on reducing my lag without rooting. I have read mixed reviews on the advanced task killer and also am not sure how i should set the frequency and level of kill if I did use it. Also is there a major difference in lag if I were to root. I like the phones stock features and wouldn't be interested in doing anything other than speeding the phone up. I have jailbroken an iPhone so I may be a little familiar with the process but all help is appreciated.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPulled the trigger last night on both rooting and flahsing KaosFroyo v30.... LOVE IT! much faster than 2.1 OTA with sense. I do miss my sense widgets though So what are my options?
ADW seems jumpy and no (good) widgets
Launcherpro is great but I'm cheap (and on a work phone) and don't want to pay for Plus to
Launcher2 - flash update to KaosFroyo? no idea what comes with it though.
Other?
I really want to get my favorites, bookmarks, calendar (I NEED this one), messaging and email widgets would be nice but not required.
I'm currently on my third Eris. My first had the silent bug extremely bad and I upgraded to 2.1v3 instead of OTA, so I got a new one. The 2nd one was perfect at first; it came with 1.5 stock, but soon I found that it had a broken trackball and clearly HTC didn't fix that before shipping it to me. So after further complaining I got a 3rd Eris, which works fine although it shipped with 2.1, which I suspect is really 2.1v3 not OTA, but no definite way to check. I've recently decided I wanted to root my phone, but discovered that my HBOOT version is 1.49 which from what I read can't be rooted? My question is is it possible to a root a phone on this HBOOT version and also does this mean that I'm probably running 2.1v3?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have rooted Eris, but am just running the standard ROM thing that came with GRDLOCK's script. Tried out EE 2.1 I think, but kinda crashed a lot on me, and froze up a bunch, so I just went back to the nandroid backup of the basic and stuck with it. That was like 2 months ago, and I thought maybe now, I should actually try out a real ROM. Now that EE 3.0 is up, I want to give it another shot. The question in all this crap is if I need to flash EE 2.0, and 2.1 to flash 3.0?
