I rooted my phone about a month ago and had been running Amon RA's recovery. Today I decided to try out ClockworkMod's recovery because I had heard that it will install packages without a signature. So I flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install any new Roms such as Evil Eris 4.0, nothing happened. It just would reboot into the stock ROM.

Sorry if this sounds a little noobish, but is it safe to run any of these new roms without the SBF of Froyo? What happens if you brick the phone while running 2.2 OTA trying to flash?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Droid 2 recently and decided to put the 16GB card from my O.G. Droid but before so I wiped everything from it, minus my pictures and videos. My Droid 1 is rooted and I wanted to go back to it but now when I try to flash a rom it doesn't work and it looks like a bunch of stuff is missing from the SD card or whatever it needs for clockwork to do its magic. So the question is what do I need to do to get back to where I can flash roms willy nilly like before? Do I need to go to stock then re-root or is there a more simple way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and downloaded the ult droid froyo beta, and it runs fine, but can't change to any other rom's or flash any kernals. It just loops with the M then reboots back into normal phone. I have backed up this one and stock 2.1, but won't even let me get back to that.

I can see what kind of ROMs are available, but to be honest, I'd really like to hear what people who are using various ones think of them as far as what works and what doesn't work and I'm sure new rooters would find this usefull as well when deciding.
I am currently using Plain Jane and although I like the Sense UI and most everything seems to work ok, I'm finding that I'm not totally happy with it. Little quirks like Facebook not populating my address book, and the font gets a tad hard to read with alot of text.
I don't think it supports a2sd, but I'm not 100% positive on that.
So what is everyone else using and what do you think of it as far as what works and what doesn't work in it.
Are there any compatible Custom Roms for the eris and do you believe that a CDMA Hero Rom (Such as fresh 1.1) will work on our Eris?

In this article they make mention of the processor architecture being the reason, does this mean that even after root and some hacking it will never work? Or is that just Adobe's excuse? View 20 Replies View RelatedI'm an Incredible user, but my girlfriend has an Eris. I'm tired of hearing her bitch about the speed of the phone, and how it occasionally locks up on her, so (now that the easy root method for leaker's is out) I'm about to root her phone and install a custom ROM. Now, I have a few questions for you folks since I'm not familiar with the Eris community at all (and I have some time constraints since she needs her phone back).
1. I'm looking for a ROM recommendation. What I'm looking for is something extremely stable and fast. I don't need any bells/whistles. She doesn't use tethering, at all but it must have GPS/Camera/Blue tooth/MMS working. Don't really care if it has Sense, but if there is something fast/stable WITH sense, that would not be a bad thing. Most important things are speed and bug-free (or damn close). Froyo would be nice (obviously).
2. I am unfamiliar with overclocking. I come from a phone where you overclock by installing a hydra kernel, so I don't know how this works on the Eris. It sounds like I will have to manually set up overclocking in Set CPU, and I'm not familiar with the application. If anyone can give me some tips on how to do this, or recommended settings that would be AWESOME. One thing to keep in mind is that this is not my phone, so I won't have time to tinker with trial and error (in other words I won't be able to start testing at 850mhz and work my way down until it's stable).I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm hoping some of you guys will be able to help me out given the circumstances. Thanks in advance.
Whenever I try flashing any ROM I keep getting this error:
"E:No space left on device
E:Error writing BOOT:
E:Failure at line 393:

Installation aborted."
Now of course I have wiped data/cache before every attempt, and have also checked internal and sdcard storage and there is more then enough room. I have reflashed with the new reflasher tool, so recovery version is 2.0.1.3. Also, I was able to successfully flash a kernel, so I am stumped. Just tried to use ROM manager to flash, same result.
Since I am just an average Joe with all this android stuff I didn't wanna get to deep in the process of rooting my phone so I went with Unrevoked3, now since their claiming you can flash custom ROMs I was wondering if anyone knows how to accomplish this in a safe and easy way.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an eris flashed with PB00IMG and I believe I have root access. I am able to remove apps through terminal. I cannot get the google maps to update. I have removed maps.apk, htcnavi.apk and com.google.android.maps.jar. I have removed these separately and all together. I have been able to get it to update before, but I reflashed the PB00IMG because I could not get youtube videos to play without the stock browser. I got the youtube videos working again but cannot remember how to get the maps to update again. I wanted to try flashing different roms. I have downloaded a couple, placed them on the sdcard, and booted but I cannot get them to boot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a rooted Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.
I looked over at the instructions and it says all you data will be wiped. So rooting will likely be the absolute first thing I do. After you root its stated you can flash custom roms. Can someone go more in depth on this? Will Sense not work anymore once the phone is rooted? Any other points of interest that is worth noting?
