Mar 2, 2010Since the Eris doesn't have a flash is there anyway to take good night/dark photos? All the good "kodak moments" happen at night.

Jan 4, 2010Forgive me if someone else has asked this, but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.I understand that the proximity/light sensor turns off the screen when the Eris is next to your ear to prevent "face dailing", etc. And, I understand the screen comes back on when the sensor senses light. Ok, that works fine.BUT, what do you do if you are using the phone in the dark? When I pull the phone away, the screen will not come back on because it does not sense light. For example, trying to delete a voicemail if you're using the phone in the dark. I've tried every button to re-activate the screen, and the only one that will work is the "End" key. And that obviously ends the call.

Jun 21, 2010I have noticed an irritating condition with Navigator. When I turn it to landscape mode, the screen darkens to unreadable. I can turn it back to portrait and it immediately re-appears. This only happens when I pick it up - It can be laying in the seat in LS mode and be perfectly visible, as soon as I pick it up, it goes dark. If this is a feature, what is the benefit?

Aug 26, 2010Was just thinking about replacing my Eris, and was wondering if the Incredible would be the logical step up from the Eris. I like the Eris a lot but there ARE a couple things that I think I'm getting tired of. First is it's slow most of the time, and second, the camera is just not living up to my expectations. Jun 8, 2010I have an HTC Droid Eris which I LOVE, but yesterday and today my battery has been getting very low/dying just hours after charging it all through the night, which I do every night. I have not downloaded any new apps, and have hardly any apps that would take up battery life honestly. Any ideas on what to do? Or is it just time to go into Verizon and see what they say?

Feb 24, 2010Would any1 be able to reccomend some good media players for the eris? Ive been playing with the stock MP3 player, and likes the way it intergrates with the lock screen, but I find that it repeats lots of songs while in shuffle mode on playlists ><. I tried a few of the Meridian and Mixzing players, and really don't like the interfaces, and Intergration into the lock screen is a major + for me which neiither of these have. I guess what i'm looking for is something to replace my ipod 30GB (4th Gen?) thats slowly showing its age. That was the most user friendly, functional music player ive ever used.

May 18, 2010It seems like since the 2.1 install, the home button is not nearly as sensitive. Also the screen sensitivity seems lower as well. I have to try several times to get it to click. Is there a way to change the sensitivity??

Apr 9, 2010I just installed Astro File Manager, and I can't find where the Eris stores photos taken with the camera. I have a folder called 'Photos' on my SD card, but that only has photos I copied to it from my PC. (so I could use them as wallpaper). When I use the Albums app, it lets me choose the Photos folder on my SD card, or a folder called 'Camera shots' with 29 photos in it (that I took with the Eris camera), but I don't see that folder anywhere with Astro , even when trying a file search.

Jul 25, 2010So Verizon just replaced my eris with a refurb and everything seemed to work fine. I was initially able to lo load a photo album widget, but that after doing some SD card file editing, when I tried to look at photos, the pictures no longer load. I can look at them if I access the pictures within the camera function. But if I try to look at the the android photos apps, I get a never ending 'loading SD card data'. If I try to view them through ASTRO, the htc.photo program forces closes repeatedly and I have to pull the battery. I've already moved my data from the SD card, reformatted it, re-loaded the data and that allowed me to view the pics in the camera feature, but overall this isn't working. Because it worked at first, I'm thinking it isn't the phone and it's something I did.

Apr 5, 2010I searched but couldn't find what I needed.I made the mistake of syncing my Eris with Facebook. I would rather use the photos I have for contacts in Gmail but now that I've synced with Facebook I can't get the photos to go away, short of going to each contact and choosing to sync the birthdays but not photos. Even then, would i really have to add each of their photos to the SD card and change each one individually in their contact file? More simply put: How can I unsync Facebook photos with contacts? I tried logging out of Facebook and uninstalling the app but, disturbingly, it continues to show contact photos from FB and, more disturbingly, gives me updates on them. I'm definitely logged out and I definitely uninstalled the app.

Jan 1, 2010I just set up my Droid Eris to sync my contacts with their Facebook profile so that their photos would show up in my contacts. I synced them all and them matched up properly, but their pictures are not aligned properly. When I first did it, their faces were aligned and everything looked ok, except some pictures were pretty pixelated. But after a few minutes, the pixelation went away and the quality of the pictures was better, except a lot of my contacts have their head not in the photo or just misaligned. More than half are off.I thought at first it was that they didn't set up their picture properly on Facebook, but I looked at their mini pictures (like the ones that show up in the news feed) and their faces were showing up properly. Even their mini pictures on the facebook app are correct. And these seem to be the same size as the pics in my contacts.Why is it that my contacts photos aren't aligned right on some of them and how can I fix this?

Nov 10, 2009First time trying to send a photo via text message (MMS). On any number of my previous phones, the phone would automatically resize the image so that it wasnt too large to send. That does not appear to be happening on the Eris. I sent one photo, and it was nearly 1100kb. Then another photo I attempted to send would not attach, because it said it was too large (it was like 1250kb in size). So, is there a way to have it automatically resize a photo that is being sent via MMS? Or will I need to do that manually beforehand with an app from the Market, like Picasa or something of the sort?
