HTC Eris :: How To Flash OC Patch?
Jul 28, 2010
I have the OC patch that I need to flash, but I just don't know where to start with which folder to put it into or where and when to cut and paste. Everything I see comes down to "just flash the OC patch", but I guess that I just don't know which steps exactly are for flashing and not rooting. Can anyone help me get through this?

Just installed evil eris 3.0 and i like it although it resembles 2.0 a little. i have one question tho. when you go into the market, why does it get rid of half my apps that i had installed? i don't remember what i had and i don't remember what app i used to back them up. also, do i have to go back into recovery to install the live wallpaper patch? one last question. since i did a nand backup of evil eris 2.0.1, do i need to do a wipe of my phone before i restore it?

Since the Eris doesn't have a flash is there anyway to take good night/dark photos? All the good "kodak moments" happen at night.

One of the big things I was looking forward to with 2.1 was full flash support. But, as we should have expected, thats a no go for 1st gen phones. In this article they make mention of the processor architecture being the reason, does this mean that even after root and some hacking it will never work? Or is that just Adobe's excuse? No Flash 10.1 for 1st gen Android phones

I have rooted Eris, but am just running the standard ROM thing that came with GRDLOCK's script. Tried out EE 2.1 I think, but kinda crashed a lot on me, and froze up a bunch, so I just went back to the nandroid backup of the basic and stuck with it. That was like 2 months ago, and I thought maybe now, I should actually try out a real ROM. Now that EE 3.0 is up, I want to give it another shot. The question in all this crap is if I need to flash EE 2.0, and 2.1 to flash 3.0?

Probably lots of multiple posts out there for this announcement, but couldn't find any right away: Flash 10.1 snubbing non-ARMv7 Android devices, too? (update: yes) -- Engadget.Seems our underpowered Eris just isn't cut out for all ofthese new developments. Or is it?

I just *finally* got my Evo in the mail yesterday. My mom opened it, got it ported and activated by the time I got home from work. She also updated it (as per suggestion from Sprint). I know Unprovoked doesn't work and I haven't seen anything yet that provides a soft root. My primary goal at the moment is being able to use Titanium Backup (paid for a license!). I will probably flash up to Fresh 0.5.3 after I can backup and root. Are there any solutions that work with the new update? Does the SimpleRoot 0.1 work?

so my replacement Eris will be in the mailbox waiting for me to get home today I have looked up many tutorials and plan on taking the plunge to root my phone. I have looked through all of the posts in reguards to different ROMs to flash. My question is, as a new root user, which is best for me? The few requirements I want for sure is:
Quick Dialer
Live Wall Paper
Sense if possible
Custom theme/ui
Overclock
Apps 2 SD
Smooth and everything works

I am finding myself flashing my phone several times a day. Tweaking roms moving ring tones or other things that one rom may not have. I am wondering am I going to burn out my phone doing this???? LOL I just can't settle on the perfect combination. The most consistent ROM for me yet has been Evil Eris 3.0 but the GPS doesn't work. I loved White Widow but a day after install it started lagging badly. I want KaosFroyo but I have to have a working camera. And my favorite keyboard is the HTC_IME_mod!!!! And all the roms don't have this one.

What happened to cause you to have to do that?
- just once
- twice now
- three times or more
This is not polling for re-flashing a ROM or flashing a new ROM for fun or out of curiosity; I'd like to see a poll of rooters who messed up something and needed to either re-flash their zip file and start over or had to find and go to another ROM because the current one just was not working.

I just called Verizon about my DINC overheating and rebooting. The tech guy said I need to take it to a Verizon store where someone can install a "rsd tool" patch to fix the problem. Before I waste my time, has anyone heard of this and know if it works?

Is it as simple as placing the zip file in SD root, restarting the phone in recovery mode, and install the zip?
Are backups needed for just patches?
I am aware of one patch so far for froyo and it's http://adrynalyne.stfuthxbye.net/n_patches/stagefright2.zip
Is there a different patch I should be looking at?

I try to implement a hover effect (effect when button is pressed) through putting a semi transparent PNG file on top of the button background and the button icon. Unfortunatly the button background file is a 9-PATCH-PNG which causes some trouble here: It "swallows" everything on top of its layer and doesn't allow to cover the stretchable areas (the fine light line around) of the nine-patch-png. In other words, the black lines the top and left edge of the 9 PATCH PNG cause not only stretching, but also padding behavior.

I had my phone rooted and I accidentally hit volume down and power instead of volume up and power (I was going to flash a new ROM). I was asked to press action and update like I did the first time I rooted but after it was finished I tried to go and flash a ROM it just brought me to a screen with an android robot and a triangle with an exclamation point. What I need to know is do I need to re-root and if not what do I need to do?

Has anyone noticed in the 2.1 rom we have a lot more flash support! You can load facebook apps and such... seems to run out of memory on some though. Anyone else see the flash enhancements?

I rooted my phone about a month ago and had been running Amon RA's recovery. Today I decided to try out ClockworkMod's recovery because I had heard that it will install packages without a signature. So I flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install any new Roms such as Evil Eris 4.0, nothing happened. It just would reboot into the stock ROM.

I have a question for someone more tech savvy than myself. I am rooted and downgraded the Hboot because I was a leaker. ;-) I am wondering if it is possible to only update the Kernel and not flash a whole ROM? The reason I ask this is I would like to enable over clocking with just the stock Eris 2.1. Can you flash just a new Kernel?
