My market app has disappeared! I'm running plainjane2.1 and it was there and functioning properly the night b4. I did a nand backup last night and when I restored, it was gone. I've tried searching but can't seem to find a solution. Am I stuck having to re flash and wipe my data or is there a fix?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been using a HTC Hero with all the tweaks etc on it. Now I bought a samsung Galaxy S from Dubai a few days ago. I was very disappointed to find that the android market is missing and the slide market is no match for it. Is there a solution for it? i presume rooting and the flashing a new rom might do the trick but is there a site with proper rooting instructions where they dont say do this step (d) without explaining steps(a,b &c). Without the market I would throw away the galaxy.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis morning when I turned on my Eris, I received a notice that I had 2 new updates! I was excited because I thought it might be Android 2.1. Hearing that updates can take a lot of battery power, I decided to use Advanced Task Killer to kill all unnecessary tasks before installing the updates. I opened ATK, killed the selected tasks, and boom!, the updates disappeared! I manually checked for updates under Settings, but it says my phone is up to date. I called Verizon and they said if Settings doesn't show any updates, they must have installed automatically. I don't buy that. Updates are supposed to take several minutes and I checked Settings right after the update notification disappeared. So unless they installed in a matter of seconds, something is wrong.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Win XP Home Edition and HTC Eris (which I love). However, I seem to have lost the ability to mount / unmount the Eris as a USB drive a few days ago. I have transferred files from/to my sd card successfully, However I can no longer do so. Regardless of whether I have USB debugging set or not, I never see the "Mount USB" Notification any longer. It just "disappeared". How can I get it back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have this problem? about 1 out of 4 calls the people on the other end (whether they call me or i call them) can hear me but i can't hear them. just happened again, though this time i tried 5 times in a row to make a call and it apparently went through but i had no audio. finally on the 6th try i could hear. also, i received a call but the phone never rung.
on an unrelated note i just had to resign into google. and a couple of forced close problems. hoping this isn't 2.1 related. though i had the audio problem before.
My phone no longer vibrates in vibration mode or for any other setting for which I have vibration turned on. My haptic feedback disappeared at the same time.
Haptic feedback is checked yet there is none. I have rebooted and pulled the battery to no avail. My phone is useless in vibration mode since it no longer vibrates.
Anyone have a clue why this would have happened? One minute it was working the next it wasn't.
I'm living in Austin, TX. New to Droid ownership. Just bought an ERIS. My favorite standard feature was the large, Weather Channel animations. However, the rest of the phone was faulty and I had to have it replaced with a "refurbished" phone. Now the large weather animations have disappeared. Puny, smaller animations remain.Does this have something to do with Google's preferences. Can I get the more robust animations back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my eris for awhile now, no problems thus far Today, 3 times now I've gotten a text (first using handcent, now chomp) and when I pull down to clear/read it in the notifcations tab, sometimes its disappeared and then when I go into the messaging app, its GONE! WTH? Is there a setting I messed with that is making it do this, or how do I fix it?
I've had to ask people to re-send their text message, that gets pretty old for both of us. I rebooted and have yet to see if that has done anything, I havent gotten a message since I did.
A while back I read that Verzion Android devices apps will have to go thru the Verizon Market, meaing that all apps has to be approved by Google AND Verizon. Can you sideload apps on Verzion Android devices?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...

View 19 Replies View RelatedI hate to compare it to apple, but let's face it, that's all it will ever be compared to.I have an itouch that I used religiously before I got my Eris a while back and as most of you probably know, the apple app store can keep you busy for hours. Every day there are new apps, but most importantly there are always a new list of their featured apps.My question is why for the last few months have we been starring at the same featured apps from android? These include Reality browser, personal assistant, hoccer, google goggles, wordpress, cnet scan and shop, ustream, usaa mobile, zagat, car locator, movies, handcent sms.I could be totally wrong, but it just feels like I've seen these apps all to many times. Is it my phone? Also I wish there was a way to view top-downloaded apps for the day or week.I feel like any new android apps don't have the ability to reach popularity because there is not system for most popular downloads. When you sort through, they're all the same...facebook, myspace, backgrounds, yellow pages etc. etc. etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted both mine and my wife's phone to Ivan's 1.0 (2.1 with OC). Her Market works totally fine. It's fast and loads everything and all tabs are there. Mine was sort of working at first, now it's completely come to a halt. The "top paid" tab is missing (when does finally load), most of the time it just gets stuck on "loading". I've tried clearing cache, doing a factory reset, reflashing the ROM, using the market fix (that puts the "top paid" tab back, but doesn't fix the slowless). It's just seriously broken.
Again, I've flashed the exact same ROM on mine and my wife's Eris, and hers works totally fine. I've searched for this issue on google and it seems this is a common problem, but no one has found a solution that works for me. I've tried them all, and none of them work. If I would have known rooting was going to break something so basic I possibly wouldn't have done it.
The other day my Android Market just started force closing on me every time I tried opening it. I thought, "no biggie, it will probably stop doing that after I reboot it." Well...no luck. Been two days now and the problem is continuing. I can't even open the market up. Any suggestions? I am running 2.1leakv2 (I know I know v2...I just didn't want to update because it would wipe my entire phone again, and I have absolutely no problems with v2 other than this now).

I unrooted my Eris and used this app to reroot it and it worked fine with no glitches.
A nice alternative to other rooting methods for the Eris.
I had the paypal app installed and working a few days ago now it's disappeared from my device and no longer on the market, anyone had this?
