I have Win XP Home Edition and HTC Eris (which I love). However, I seem to have lost the ability to mount / unmount the Eris as a USB drive a few days ago. I have transferred files from/to my sd card successfully, However I can no longer do so. Regardless of whether I have USB debugging set or not, I never see the "Mount USB" Notification any longer. It just "disappeared". How can I get it back?

Turned on my phone this morning and besides getting emails I had an update notification. I used the advanced task killer before I actually clicked on anything and the update disappeared on me. I know, shouldnt have done that, just force of habbit when I first turn on the phone everyday. Anyhow, I re-booted my phone thinking it might come back and it didnt. I then checked for system updates on the phone and it said there werent any. Just checking to see if anyone else has ever had something like this happen to them.

The "droid" audio that i had is gone and i see no way to enable it.Any one expierence this or have a fix? In 2.1 there was a sd mount option in the sound settings but that seems to be gone now.

Earlier I booted into recovery to make a nand backup and now, my photo app says that it cannot find any photos or videos. I know that they are there because I can go into eStrong and they are sitting there clear as day. So my question is how can they be there yet not be there?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis morning when I turned on my Eris, I received a notice that I had 2 new updates! I was excited because I thought it might be Android 2.1. Hearing that updates can take a lot of battery power, I decided to use Advanced Task Killer to kill all unnecessary tasks before installing the updates. I opened ATK, killed the selected tasks, and boom!, the updates disappeared! I manually checked for updates under Settings, but it says my phone is up to date. I called Verizon and they said if Settings doesn't show any updates, they must have installed automatically. I don't buy that. Updates are supposed to take several minutes and I checked Settings right after the update notification disappeared. So unless they installed in a matter of seconds, something is wrong.

My phone no longer vibrates in vibration mode or for any other setting for which I have vibration turned on. My haptic feedback disappeared at the same time.
Haptic feedback is checked yet there is none. I have rebooted and pulled the battery to no avail. My phone is useless in vibration mode since it no longer vibrates.
Anyone have a clue why this would have happened? One minute it was working the next it wasn't.
I'm living in Austin, TX. New to Droid ownership. Just bought an ERIS. My favorite standard feature was the large, Weather Channel animations. However, the rest of the phone was faulty and I had to have it replaced with a "refurbished" phone. Now the large weather animations have disappeared. Puny, smaller animations remain.Does this have something to do with Google's preferences. Can I get the more robust animations back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my eris for awhile now, no problems thus far Today, 3 times now I've gotten a text (first using handcent, now chomp) and when I pull down to clear/read it in the notifcations tab, sometimes its disappeared and then when I go into the messaging app, its GONE! WTH? Is there a setting I messed with that is making it do this, or how do I fix it?
I've had to ask people to re-send their text message, that gets pretty old for both of us. I rebooted and have yet to see if that has done anything, I havent gotten a message since I did.
I have been trying to get help with this for awhile, but have got no where. I am about to just get a replacement. Only thing holding me back is that my moisture sticker is pink, even though I've never got this phone wet. Anyway, the issue. When plugging my phone to my computer, it will not recognize. Can't run ADB commands, do not get an option on the phone to mount sd card or that it's even connected. However, it will charge. I have loaded different ROM's, reloaded windows, tried it on ubuntu, multiple machines, different sd card in the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just added the leaked 2.1 yesterday and was trying to add the new 2.1 music player that a few people have added. I dl'ed it on my computer and connected my eris to my PC through USB. Once I connected, it gave me three options, charge only, HTC Sync, or disk drive. I chose disk drive and added the new musicplayer file to my phone. Forgetting how to access my SD card files, I went to Settings>SD card &phone storage> and quite regretably hit Unmount SD card. In doing this, the only option I have on that screen is to Format (erase) my SD card (Which I'd rather not do). Now when I connect using USB, I only get the first 2 options, charge and HTC sync, and cannot connect with my PC anymore as a disk drive. how I can connect back up with USB to my computer? and where do I go to access the files I've added to my SD card? I have had my HTC Droid Eris for 6 months now and am pretty pleased with it. I have an Apple computer and had downloaded an app to sync photos and music from my Eris to my Mac. It worked great! However. After I got the 2.1 update on my phone, my Mac and Eris cannot sync!!! I plug my Eris into my Mac, and it usually pops up on the phone with an option to Mount the SD card. However, now it merely shows the charging symbol over the battery icon and never gives me the option to mount! I can turn on debugging mode and when I plug in my phone to my Mac, it pops up with the debugging icon, so it recognizes it, but for some weird reason it won't mount!

I receive an error from windows saying 'USB Device Not Recognized'. It lists it as an unknown device and will not mount the SD card. Ive tried restarting both the phone and computer to no availer.

When it said "device not found" I tried to sync it only to find out that now I have no options to sync or mount. When plugged in by usb I get nothing in the notification bar at all. It will charge but now I can't even mount my phone
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was finally able to come up with secure way to mount my Eris to my Road bike, although I believe it is secure enough to work on a mountain bike to but I will have to try that later. I had been looking for a while to find a way to attach my Eris to my bike without the use of bulky devices like the universal one from the bike store. I finally saw the Shell / Holster Combo at Verizon and decided to give it a try.
I purchased the Combo from Verizon for $23. Here is a link to the Combo. I have attached pictures. This Combo seems very durable so I think it is a good fit for this job. It says the phone is supposed to be faced in, but the holster doesn't appear to be causing any problems with the phone its just a snug fit. Which is what I want anyway..................
When I insert the USB cable, I can go to notifications and mount the SD card so I can transfer files to and from my PC. This all works fine. Lets say I am all done with the connection to my PC so I want to disconnect the USB cable. I go to notifications and select "turn off USB storage". I get the message that I need to "unmount the host". So I go to settings and unmount the SD card, go back to notifications and turn off usb storage. Done, all this works fine too. Later in the day, I want to browse some videos and picture that are located on my SD card. I get the message "SD card unmounted". No problem, I will just go to setting and mount it? However, not mount option exists in settings. The only way I can mount the SD card after it has been unmounted, is to insert a USB cable, go to notifications and select mount, or to power off my phone and then power it back on.

Actually I modified these files with RecoveryFileManager at first but I found that was failed after I reboot the device, so I just type these commands into the init.d, but after that, I just find my status bar and notification bar was lost and disappeared, not only home screen but also all around the surface in the system.
So I'm pretty new to rooting. On some themes or roms they require me to Mount System and Mount Data. I have clockwork recovery installed and when I select the option Mount System, it just acts like i didn't select anything. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEarlier today, I go to mount my evo as a disk drive to copy some files over and I'm no longer able to. When I plug in the usb to the pc (win7 ultimate x64), it starts to charge the phone, but I don't get the option in the notification panel to choose what I want it to do when I plug it in. I've check the phone settings and it's still supposed to ask each time it's plugged in. The sd card is recognized in astro, I even put it back in the hero just to make sure, and everything is there and working. I've tried on my pc (16 different usb slots) and my laptop (4 usb) and neither one will allow me to mount.

I just bought the Droid X Car Mount and I can now use my Garmin beanbag with it by inserting the ball joint into the back of Droid X car mount - fit's perfectly.
My market app has disappeared! I'm running plainjane2.1 and it was there and functioning properly the night b4. I did a nand backup last night and when I restored, it was gone. I've tried searching but can't seem to find a solution. Am I stuck having to re flash and wipe my data or is there a fix?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an 8gb sdmicro card for my samsung moment, which i put in my phone, then got home tried to hook it up to my pc with the usb cable...nothning happened, but i got this error warning or so talking about usb malfunction or something, heres a screen shot of what i saw popped up. do i need to install new usb drivers for the phone? also i can hear the pc making that dun dun,... dun dun sound when u plug in a usb device, but it keeps doing it over and over... while the phones charing thru it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).

Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.
