View 6 RepliesMy GPS quit working yesterday in Ruidoso, NM. Was working great all weekend, even in the mountains. Yesterday morning, it refused to find my location. Rebooted several times (didn't remove battery-should have) but it never kicked in. Turned GPS off, but kept turning it on periodically just to check it on the drive back to Austin. When we got home, I checked it one more time and it was working? I'm very glad it's working, but just wonder why it stopped? I really missed it!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a ListPreference to decide which sound to play on a button click.
I have this at the top:
public String greensound;
Here's my OnClick code:................
I also tried removing the default value here it didnt seem to change anything but, should it be removed?
Here's my Settings.java:
package com.my.app;
CODE:...........
And here's my array's if that will help at all:
CODE:............
Here's a logcat that kinda looked possibly related:
CODE:..........
For those that might ask here's my DDMS > File Explorer > Data > Data > packageName > SharedPreferences This is what was in there:
com.my.app_preferences.xml:
CODE:...................
This all really confuses me more because...It looks like greensound does == gsone so.... I don't understand whats wrong its not even playing the default sound. and yes i've tested all this code without the listpreference code and they work great. I'm not sure what's wrong?
My alarm was working fine now the notification is no longer sounding. All other sounds, sms gmail email etc are ok. If you try and change the sound to a stock sound they don't sound either (so I don't think its to do with the SD card). Any ideas?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSuddenly stopped working for no reason. I've changed nothing in the settings and everything in default settings aswell as Handcent settings show that the sound is being used....but when I 'Test Notification' in Handcent there is no sound.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the past two days my alarm goes off, the phone vibrates, but there's no sound it's only the noise of the vibrate that wakes me up.This is a recent thing, I've checked the volume is up, I don't have a taskiller installed, I've set and reset the alarm sound to go off, but even when I go into settings to change the sound, if I select a new sound it doesn't ring out. However, if I go to change my ringtone, that does make a sound. I've turned the phone on and off, I've deleted and set new alarms to no avail.I just don't get it... can anyone help? Software version is 1.0.0.A6288, firmware 1.5 if that helps. Installed new OS about a month ago.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an application named Todderlock so my children could just meddle around with my phone while they sat in my lap. However, the sound stops working after a non-specific amount of "dings" when either tapping the shapes around the screen, or when dragging your finger along the screen to make the same type of noise, but much more rapidly.
Thinking this was an application problem, I had my wife download Todderlock on her HTC Hero, and the sound works without issue.
So, I shrugged that off and went looking for other neat applications to download...I downloaded Bug Squash I, II and III and they all suffer from the same problem: after squishing X amount of bugs, the SFX stop (the music continues however), and I have to restart the application to enjoy the sound for as long as it lasts.
I was getting suspicious, so I loaded up Robo Defense FREE and the same thing happens when the turrets are firing...after X amount of shots fired, all sound ceases to work.
I have not been able to find a similar problem with the HTC Evo on Google or here on the Android forums, considering my wife's Hero works without issue on all the sound issues I am having.
As far as I know, phone notifications and ringers continue to work after the application has "disabled" the sound. I have not reset the phone to factory settings or anything, but I have restarted the phone itself numerous times, and the problem still persists.
My phone was working fine last night but today the sound has gone/stopped working on the keys as you press them..the settings are fine and all switched on..I took the battery out and tried again but its still the same..any thoughts please?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy notification and alarm sound has stopped working however when I go to play music off my phone it still works.
I have gone into the Volume section under Sound and tried to mess with the volume levels. When I turn the alarm level up to the highest it can go, instead of playing my alarm sound it plays a very faint beeping noise. When I turn up my notification level it makes a similar beeping noise.
I have set a notification sound for both my ring and notification. When I recieve my text messages now, the phone only vibrates. It used to always give me the notification sound as well. Ringer notification is fine. It is not set in the vibrate mode.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast night I was bored and browsing through my soundboards looking for a new ringtone. I was opening and closing apps, running task killer, if I thought it necessary. Everything was fine, until all of a sudden my media volume stopped working. On screen, while I'm playing media, I can pull the volume up and down, but no sound comes out. The Alarm volume, and ringer volume continue to work. So this morning I snooped around the forums and decided to reset my phone. All was going well, until I accidentally played some mp3's that were on my SD card. Now the media volume has stopped working again and when I turn on my phone, my music app has attached itself to that screen that you have to pull down to log in.
I didn't request that, and can't find a way to turn that off in the settings. To be honest, I am a new user. I've had my hero for two weeks, and I'd love to know that my problems are user error and not a faulty phone. I've also re-downloaded task killer and am wondering if that was a bad choice. I'm still at the point of just playing with my phone: launching apps, installing, uninstalling, etc, and it seemed like a good idea. In a worst case scenario, I'm thinking of deleting the mp3's and doing another reset. But if I have to keep doing this regularly, the exercise will get a little old.
I am pulling my hair on this problem from a long time and haven't found a solution yet. I am running Android demo program - APIDemo which is available in android source. For my dev I am using ubuntu, earlier when I used to run SoundRecording example it created a file on sdcard but there was no recording as such which was done in the file but now it started working suddenly. I am still not sure why it happened. But anyways good news is that Microphone is working with android emulator - as opposed to what I read at many forums that it does not.
On other hand whenever I am trying to run the voice recognition application available in same APIDemo its giving me an error - "Recording Parameter not supported: sampelrate 1600, channelcount 1, samplerate 1". Is it that speech recognition cannot take higher sample rate and if it cannot what is the sample rate it requires? My microphone supports only 16000 and higher sample rate.
Got the Droid X on 7/15, everything was great, got the system update, now the camera won't work. Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a leggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?
very annoyed the sounds are wierdly muffled and not working right after the update, particularly the typing click sound i like.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThe title says it all.
I'm using the latest version.
I've been using the back button to back out of the program, but I've just learned that the program stays active (still in memory).
Surely there has to be a way to quit the program?
I just used some great app and now I'm done, and... I want to *exit* the app. So I look for the 'exit' button.'quit' button.. nope can't find it.. !? Is there really no 'quit' button for android apps? (like in all other operating systems: the X button at the top right corner of the window) Shurely this can't be true. Only way to quit is to go to the home menu and start up a 2nd application dedicated to killing other apps and then kill app nr 1 from that?? Like buying a car that only has an 'on' switch and when i arrive at my destination, I have to open the hood and disconnect a gas lead or sometning to stop the engine.. (Or press the back button 10 times go through all documents you viewed until you reach the home screen). Isn't this like one of the basic features an OS should provide in its user interface?
View 13 Replies View RelatedSo, all of a sudden handcent quit vibrating at all. I cant figure out why or what I could have done to cause this. I have checked and rechecked all of the settings. The main reason for me using it is because I kept missing messages and handcent allows to make at least longer vibes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt seemed after the update, Google Talk will not quit running at all. No matter if I sign out and stop the service. It will be back and running in about 5 minutes and say it has been running since the phone has been awake, like it was never turned off to begin with or the time running would be real low. What apps and other stuff use this service? It seemed before the update, once I killed it, it would NEVER be running.
View 28 Replies View RelatedI have been developing a game on Android and wrote a wrapper for J2ME classes,
When notifyDestroyed() is called in my ME program and calling finish() but the application doesn't close correctly.
The App goes to background and when launched again it shows an error message and presents an option to "force close" the App, if i force close it and launch again, the app launches fine but again the same has to be repeated upon every launch..
Can you please explain why the App is not being erased from memory when finish() is called.
when i check the log i found no exceptions when closing but when launched again it throws a null pointer exception.
for now to work around I placed "System.exit(0)" after calling finish () so that the app is exited abruptly, but am waiting for a valid answer on whats going on behind...?
my motorola atrix 2 will come on for about three minutes and then it shuts back down and reboots back up. i cant keep it on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am planning to release a trial version of my app and am looking into best ways to implement the logic. My lite version of the app would have all the features but will be time restricted. I see a couple of issues:
- Currently there is no mechanism built into android that allows an app to be closed. I see that you can close the main acitivity, but the user can always press the back button and go back into the app.
- After trial period, the user can always un-install the app and re- install it. What do I do to prevent this from happening?
Hi everyone, so I installed the ADW.launcher homescreen replacement app and love it. The only problem is that I have to force quit my default homescreen (in this case it's called "LG Homescreen")--task-killers won't work and I have to go into the application settings to force it. Fine. But every time I reboot my phone it runs along side of adw and I want only adw when the phone boots. I already set adw as my default homscreen, no change.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone with the one click app, side loaded the wireless tether app in and it works fine for tethering. The problem is when I choose to stop tethering the app says it's in an unknown state and to restart my phone.
Tethering still works fine but when I click stop tethering I can still see the beacon name on my client device. Also when I try and force stop it, I can't, it's still running. The only way to really kill it is to reboot the phone.
If I am not giving enough info I apologize and will give more if needed.
Anyone know how to Force Quit a Samsung Moment? About 2 hours ago the network froze. =( I just bought it yesterday.
