2: What is rooting, and what is the advantages from what the Hero is able of now?
My only goal is simply to have Google Play up and running on my Android without rooting and putting on all sorts of fancy mods. Besides, I'm not even sure if there's a Cyanogenmod for my device. I looked and it's not in the list.
I recently got a Coby Kyros MID1042, Android 4.0 tablet. It doesn't come with Google Apps. I want to install Google Apps. I have tried doing this by using the APKs and installing manually. I found instructions on Youtube and downloaded some signed apks with Vending 3.3.12.
Things seemed to be fine until I clicked on Google Play in my apps tab, I was prompted to enter my Gmail account info, so I did. I got the message "Your phone needs to communicate with Google Servers to set up your account...", but after a few minutes, I got a message that says, "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server", followed by "Unforunately, Google ServicesFramework has stopped."
have come up with solutions that seem to involve something called "rooting", resetting and installing some MODs... I'd rather use rooting or modding as an absolute last resort. Why I'm getting these messages, or any better .apk package.
Some apps from the market won't install,it keeps say installation error unknown reason 18.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI set up Virtuous 2.6 (was running CMod 6.0.2 but it was restarting, even with the default kernel) this morning and have had this problem with Seesmic and Google Voice in Market where it downloads and then the progress bar goes away and the only button is Cancel download. But I can go into Astro /mnt/sdcard/download and there's Download.apk that is the file downloaded from Market. I was able to install both Seesmic and GV that way but neither are registered in Market, and running Market Doctor in Titanium Backup does not do the trick either.Any ideas on what the issue might be? I'd prefer to stay on Virtuous but not if this keeps happening.

Is this an issue with my device or an android market issue - ive rebooted my phone, cancelled the downloads then restarted but they always get stuck on the "starting download" screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs we all know, the Hero was released with a battery drainage issue. After successfully following the instructions on how to circumvent the issue,I kind of had a feeling like I should be careful on which apps to download so as to not undo the workaround. (It did eventually happen but I have had to factory reset my Hero only once since then.) That being said, is it now safe to download apps willie nillie?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android. Can someone tell me if there is any tutorial or if someone can tell me how to install an application (step by step) and particularly, the following:
1. How to Boot into Recovery.
2. Fix Package permissions.
3. Apply any zip from SD and choose one particular zip.
4. Also, how to install non-market applications.
I have been trying to down load "beautiful widgets" since yesterday with no joy. It says purchased in the downloads but will not install. I have had confirmation of purchase by email. I downloaded random free ones for qurio and all ok but purchased one just wont load. Any ideas.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?

I unrooted my Eris and used this app to reroot it and it worked fine with no glitches.
A nice alternative to other rooting methods for the Eris.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a
I just odined to 1.6 and am noticing no paid apps in the market (except for in my downloads obviously) im wondering if anyone else has this problem or there is a fix. im in the US by the way

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a sprint hero and i'm thinking about rooting. If I root will I be able to access all the apps currently in the market that are unavailable to hero users because the hero runs 1.5? Also does anyone have any new info about the 2.1 release date?
View 4 Replies View RelatedGreetings everyone, I rooted my moment today. After that i tired to load the market and I am getting an error msgs that says A sever error has occurred. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen.
Any ideas? I have seen some posts on a google site saying this might be related to google checkout, however everything there is current.
Has anyone noticed after rooting that the market seems slower? ..particularly when accessing menu>downloads (to check for updates). I ask because I finally got around to rooting friday and have noticed much slower performance in the market since then.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got done installing the leaked OTA and rooting my phone, but now I've read conflicting reports that when Froyo comes out in a couple weeks, I won't be able to install it without going back to stock 2.1. Even worse, going back to stock means erasing all the data and apps on my phone. I was under the impression that one could use Titanium backup to make sure all apps, data, and settings can be re-imaged to the phone, but then I realized that Titanium only works if you have root, which I won't if I go back to stock. But when the official update comes out, how do I install it without losing all my data? Why can't I just install it on top of the rooted OTA update OS?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI just installed a custom ROM (LeeDroid 2.1a with A2SD+), which installs Froyo version of Android. (Apps install on an EXT3 partition of the SD Card, that the phone thinks is internal memory). However, roughly 25% of apps don't work (ie. Swype, HTC's More Widgets (ie. Dice), TypoClock) . Whether I use Sense or LauncherPro, the same result. Either they don't show up in the app drawer (but can be seen in Applications), or can't be launched (via Quick Info). The apps installed via the Android Market show as installed, but the OPEN button is greyed out. These are apps that worked before on 2.1 Eclair. So with no more info than "Cannot launch application", I can't figure out if its Froyo or the custom ROM (LeeDroid A2SD+) that's the "root" of the problem.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi ve a Hero with Build Number "2.73.707.9". It was bought in Singapore from the carrier SingTel. I ve read thru the instruction in the thread "How To Root + Install Custom ROM + Backup + More", but there dun seem to be an appropriate way for my Hero, since the method for South East Asia model is for "2.73.728.5" instead. so will that same method work for my Hero (aka the Gold Card method)?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got my galaxy few days ago and Yesterday I got home to my comp. I had an Israeli firmware version which is really annoying.
After reading in this forum and the Italian HD forum I successfully flashed the firmware(to H8 cause you people said the II5 is buggy) and rooted my phone. I want to install the USB drivers but I have a problem: I've already seen the guide that kam made but when i try to install the ADP driver I get this message(after it recognizes its a ADP driver but not recognize galaxy): I think this pictures will explain better than words. What happened when i install the driver: This is how my device manager looks AFTER i installed(unsuccessfully) the driver: this is how the driver looks: I use windows XP if somebody is confused. You can see in the "details" that my phone is VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04 So that is not the problem. UPDATE: I managed to solve my problem with this file.
