Greetings everyone, I rooted my moment today. After that i tired to load the market and I am getting an error msgs that says A sever error has occurred. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen.
Any ideas? I have seen some posts on a google site saying this might be related to google checkout, however everything there is current.

1) i downloaded/installed the drivers
2) i unpackaged the rootkit onto the sdcard
3) i executed start_root.bat
4) the script(s) ran and the phone rebooted.
now, when i connect the phone to the computer (any computer) via usb, it isn't recognized. this is the main problem. i also downloaded rom manager, and it says i do not have root.
when i run start_root from the tutorial now:

If I load 2.1 and root my phone, can I (if so how) ever go back to 1.5 if I need service or what not? A little apprehensive about rooting, since I have never played with the phone before.

View 23 Replies View RelatedAfter a lot of thought, I finally decided I would root my Moment even the whole bricking issue had me really worried. I decided to try it anyway. I got it all done last night well, I think I did. I never actually went into anything that verified that I had rooted it just assumed it was rooted after the instructions I was reading said it was. Well within these instructions was a link to the SDX website where I could download a custom update zip, and had a link to create my own update zip, so I chose to create my own. I'm not sure if I made some wrong choices while creating the zip or what, but now I am having some major trouble.
After creating my zip, I placed it on my SD card. Then, I shut the phone down, and started it up in recovery mode (maybe that's what it's called.... volume down, talk, and end buttons). I went to apply from SD, or something like that, and then went to the custom zip I had just downloaded. The phone did it's thing, said it was installed and then said I need to reboot. I did.
I've not been able to get into my phone since. It gets to the Samsung splash screen, finishes it's animation, and then nothing. It's just black. It won't do anything at all until I take the battery out and put it back in. Then, I am able to get to any of the startup screens or whatever they're called, but no matter what, always goes black after Samsung Splash.It could be that the phone is actually starting, but just not showing me a screen....not sure about that.Well, I read a little bit, and decided I would try to fix it by installing a different update zip, so I put my sd card into my laptop and removed the custom zip. Then, I put the SD card back into my phone and ran the joeykrim zip again. It's still doing the same thing.Has anyone got any ideas for me here?? I am so sick that I decided to do this. I sure hope it's worth it in the end.
Before I get started rooting what would you say the main benefits are over stock 2.1? Just want to make sure it is worth it as my phone is working fine atm. A little extra speed is always nice but anything else?

New Recovery File
Live Wallpaper ZIP
-Follow EXACTLY. Don't deviate-
1) Go to Control Panel. Remove EVERYTHING Samsung from your Add/Remove section. This will remove all of the drivers etc.
2) Go to your Program Files (x86 if needed) section under 'My Computer'. Delete the 'Samsung Electronics' folder.
3) If you have CCLeaner and are comfortable using the Registry tool, clean your registry of anything Samsung. This will ensure that your new install doesn't use the old stuff.
4) RESTART
5) Install the OLD CL14 SAMSUNG INSTALLER onto your PC. This is important as the NEW installer won't use non-signed packages.
6) RESTART
7) Download the new Recovery and KEEP IT IN ITS DOWNLOADED FORMAT. Take off the MD5 at the end of the file so it ends in TAR.
8) Go back to the Samsung Electronics folder (that you would've deleted earlier) and head to SWUpgradeModelsBinary. Remove the file inside, probably called "SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1.tar". Delete it, move it - whatever.
9) Copy the Recovery file you just downloaded into that folder. DO NOT EXTRACT IT.
10) TURN OFF YOUR PHONE and remove the battery for about 10 seconds. Replace battery. DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON.
11) HOLD 'VolDown+Camera+End'. A DOWNLOADING screen should appear.
12) Start the SWUpdate that should be on your desktop. Otherwise, it's back in the Samsung Electronics folder from earlier.
13) FOLLOW THE ONSCREEN INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. I can't stress that enough...
14) After it applies the Recovery file (which is why you placed it in the Binary folder), RESTART YOUR PHONE.
15) Copy the Live Wallpaper ZIP file to your SDCard. DO NOT put it into a folder. Just copy it to the root of the card (meaning it's by itself and not in a folder). DO NOT EXTRACT.
16) POWER OFF YOUR PHONE
17) HOLD 'VolDown+Call(Green)+End(Red)'. This will put you into Recovery Mode. Using the VolUp/VolDown keys, scroll to 'Apply Update.zip' and press the center key. Select the Zip File you just copied to your SDCard. After it processes, RESTART YOUR PHONE.
18) BOOYA! After your phone boots up, you should be able to hit Menu then Wallpapers and you should see Live Wallpapers as a heading.This doesn't ROOT your phone, only adds Live Wallpapers to your Moment. If you want to run CUSTOM Live's, you'll need to ROOT your phone.After the zip is applied, you can delete it from your SDCard.
Since I rooted to Radioactive Froyo 1.8.22 I've not been able to get my phone to connect to my PC. I tried uninstalling the programs I used to flash, [including deleting the registry files] and even re-downloaded the samsung update program, ran it to the point where it installs the drivers, and it then quit, and it still will not work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter a month of owning my moment I finally got around to buying a usb cord to move some pics and music around between my laptop and cell. I saw on here about PDAnet and wanted to use that. I downloaded and went to install and it brought up the box that if I was going to use it with a moment I needed to cancel and install the driver, I d/l the driver and tryed to install and it gets an error unable to intall driver. I went to the control panel and it shows 5 different usb drivers for samsung as installed, I tryed to uninstall and none of them uninstall. PDAnet wont connect and im getting a little frustrated. any advise?

Old one had rooted stock 2.1 with krims's custom kernel (did root with video from this board and did kernel in the kitchen).
New phone has stock baseband - Dj07 and Kernel-2.6.29. I would like to now root the new phone with a custom kernel (any suggestions on best kernel to save battery also would be helpful). ...do i need to do anything differently?
i have a non rooted samsung moment, & i want to backup my apps, even my paid apps, but i cant seem to find a way to do a backup unless my phone is rooted, any ideas or ways i can backup all my apps w/o rooting my phone?

I'll be lucky if i get through a day with only two phone calls and a couple of texts. I was reading on these forums about how rooting can increase battery life on the moment, but how? can someone explain to me how? All was fine, I rooted and installed Radioactive FroYo 1.8.9 (or what ever the newest is) plug my phone in at 11pm, wake up at 8am and my phone wasn't fully charged. I unplugged it and checked my email which only took a minute and it dropped to about 50%. WTF I thought, so I plug it into my laptop and it detected it, then I unplugged it, then I plugged it in again and nothing happened, wiggled the cord around and it would go in and out of being connected to the computer. So this phone has a bad USB or something, which would explain why a couple times last night I heard the single chime coming from my phone. So now I have to reflash my phone and have Sprint order me another phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had to get my moment replace because the screen screwed up. I had Easyteher on my phone prior to getting this one and worked good, it was working when first I hooked this phone up, it let me mount it to my computer and easytether worked fine. Then I don't know what happened. My computer doesn't see my phone anymore, and when I plug it into the computer is doesn't say "usb debugging connected" like it did before. Also when I pull down the notification bar and press menu it doesn't do anything. I thought that was how I mounted my phone before. The only thing that it does is charge the phone when I plug it in to the usb. I have tried on 3 computers, one using windows 7, Vista and XP, and not one of them worked. I seen that other people had this similar problem but I couldn't find an answer. My phone is not rooted either, please help me This is driving me nuts, I need to use my computer at work, and this is the only way I can get internet connection.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow to connect my phone via USB cable to my computer. I know you turn off USB debugging option under development. I connect the USB cable that came with my phone to USB on my computer and then to my phone. At the top of my phone it comes up with the notification to mount my card touch on that and them my phone comes up saying to turn off mass storage. Using Windows XP and in explorer can see the SD card showing as a drive in my list however when I click on it it shows nothing.
I can see the notice of the usb drive in the listings showing that I can turn it off, which I do before I disconnect the phone from my computer. Then I try to connect the USB again to my phone and all it does is show its charging the phone now, usually the only way to resolve is either to restart my computer or restart my phone and the problem starts all over again. I am tired of taking the card out of my phone manually to connect it to my computer to move or copy files or anything to my card which is an 8GB sandisk micro sd card.
I have been trying to connect my wiimote controller to my phone using bluetooth. There are a few apps in the market that allow this to work and most people seem to be having success with this app while I keep getting that error when I ever I try to connect it.
I've tried 3 wii controller apps with no success. Is this a Moment issue? Has anyone else been having the same problem?

I had a moment in the beginning and took it back,got a hero had massive problems and finally got my hero replaced with another moment that was brand new.I just got it like 2-3 days ago and its having the same issues that i had on 1.5 when i had it the first time.I had it replaced when i had it the first time and same issue.I have 2.1 now and the battery life is still horrible like dropping not long after taking it off the charger without using it but biggest problem is that the phone will tell me i have no service and it will have an x up above where the bars should be and i have to remove the battery and put it back in before it will work again.The data does the same thing and i can turn the phone off and back on for that and it will work again.Does this happen to anyone else??Its very frustrating!!Also the wifi wont connect.It just says it is unable to connect but it was just working and my laptop works wirelessly so i know that its not my router or anything with my connection.
