Jul 21, 2010So I just got done installing the leaked OTA and rooting my phone, but now I've read conflicting reports that when Froyo comes out in a couple weeks, I won't be able to install it without going back to stock 2.1. Even worse, going back to stock means erasing all the data and apps on my phone. I was under the impression that one could use Titanium backup to make sure all apps, data, and settings can be re-imaged to the phone, but then I realized that Titanium only works if you have root, which I won't if I go back to stock. But when the official update comes out, how do I install it without losing all my data? Why can't I just install it on top of the rooted OTA update OS?

Oct 24, 2010I just installed a custom ROM (LeeDroid 2.1a with A2SD+), which installs Froyo version of Android. (Apps install on an EXT3 partition of the SD Card, that the phone thinks is internal memory). However, roughly 25% of apps don't work (ie. Swype, HTC's More Widgets (ie. Dice), TypoClock) . Whether I use Sense or LauncherPro, the same result. Either they don't show up in the app drawer (but can be seen in Applications), or can't be launched (via Quick Info). The apps installed via the Android Market show as installed, but the OPEN button is greyed out.These are apps that worked before on 2.1 Eclair. So with no more info than "Cannot launch application", I can't figure out if its Froyo or the custom ROM (LeeDroid A2SD+) that's the "root" of the problem.

After reading in this forum and the Italian HD forum I successfully flashed the firmware(to H8 cause you people said the II5 is buggy) and rooted my phone. I want to install the USB drivers but I have a problem: I've already seen the guide that kam made but when i try to install the ADP driver I get this message(after it recognizes its a ADP driver but not recognize galaxy): I think this pictures will explain better than words. What happened when i install the driver: This is how my device manager looks AFTER i installed(unsuccessfully) the driver: this is how the driver looks: I use windows XP if somebody is confused. You can see in the "details" that my phone is VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04 So that is not the problem. UPDATE: I managed to solve my problem with this file.

I read there is another home replacement but its not free like pandahome. I like the behold 2 but I'm not sure why samsung decided to destroy a good thing. This could have been a very successful model had they just left the OS alone and not included bloat software.

I recently got a Coby Kyros MID1042, Android 4.0 tablet. It doesn't come with Google Apps. I want to install Google Apps. I have tried doing this by using the APKs and installing manually. I found instructions on Youtube and downloaded some signed apks with Vending 3.3.12.
Things seemed to be fine until I clicked on Google Play in my apps tab, I was prompted to enter my Gmail account info, so I did. I got the message "Your phone needs to communicate with Google Servers to set up your account...", but after a few minutes, I got a message that says, "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server", followed by "Unforunately, Google ServicesFramework has stopped."
have come up with solutions that seem to involve something called "rooting", resetting and installing some MODs... I'd rather use rooting or modding as an absolute last resort. Why I'm getting these messages, or any better .apk package.

Apr 14, 2010I bought (and rec'd on Monday) the Seidio super-honking-big extended battery. All day yesterday and today (until I could get home and swap it out), I was getting false indications of low battery that would get "fixed" upon reboot, yet 2-3 hours later it would again indicate that it's low. Jun 2, 2010I did a search but did not find anything directly applicable to my situation. My apologies if I missed it.My Droid is currently running Android 2.1 update 1.I had previously rooted under Android 2.0.1, but I inadvertently installed the Verizon automatic system update, which took away root privileges. (Incidentally, is there a way to disable automatic updates? Before my slip-up, I had been canceling the dialog box for over a week.)I tried the method described in this post and it seemed to work, but I can't execute "su" from the terminal emulator console. I have the superuser permissions ninja under apps, but I also had it after the forced Verizon update. I suspect this is a vestige of the previous rooting.
I would be immensely grateful if someone could direct me to instructions on how to EITHER: A) download everything necessary to revert to 2.0.1, use the root exploit, and then upgrade to a rooted version of 2.1, OR B) root my current installation of 2.1.Also, if you could recommend a good ROM with wireless tethering, that's be icing on the cake.
