View 6 Replies View RelatedI set up Virtuous 2.6 (was running CMod 6.0.2 but it was restarting, even with the default kernel) this morning and have had this problem with Seesmic and Google Voice in Market where it downloads and then the progress bar goes away and the only button is Cancel download. But I can go into Astro /mnt/sdcard/download and there's Download.apk that is the file downloaded from Market. I was able to install both Seesmic and GV that way but neither are registered in Market, and running Market Doctor in Titanium Backup does not do the trick either.Any ideas on what the issue might be? I'd prefer to stay on Virtuous but not if this keeps happening.

View 13 Replies View Relatedbeen trying to download and install a couple of apps last night and this afternoon but they are getting stuck on the "starting download screen"? Is this an issue with my device or an android market issue - ive rebooted my phone, cancelled the downloads then restarted but they always get stuck on the "starting download" screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAs we all know, the Hero was released with a battery drainage issue. After successfully following the instructions on how to circumvent the issue,I kind of had a feeling like I should be careful on which apps to download so as to not undo the workaround. (It did eventually happen but I have had to factory reset my Hero only once since then.) That being said, is it now safe to download apps willie nillie?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android. Can someone tell me if there is any tutorial or if someone can tell me how to install an application (step by step) and particularly, the following:

2. Fix Package permissions.
3. Apply any zip from SD and choose one particular zip.
4. Also, how to install non-market applications.
I have been trying to down load "beautiful widgets" since yesterday with no joy. It says purchased in the downloads but will not install. I have had confirmation of purchase by email. I downloaded random free ones for qurio and all ok but purchased one just wont load. Any ideas.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded two apps.Astrid Task Manager and Sketching Online. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a
I just odined to 1.6 and am noticing no paid apps in the market (except for in my downloads obviously) im wondering if anyone else has this problem or there is a fix. im in the US by the way
View 8 Replies View RelatedI know my question answers but since there's a lot of you who really spend your time scrutinizing your rank, downloads and all, I'm trying it maybe someone came up with empiric science on this one :
Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.
My phone is telling me my internal storage is nearly full, whereas I have a 4gb microsd card which is not being used.
How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
I'm new and not tech saavy,so if you can help, please,I would really appreciate it.I'm sure it's something simple, but I'm not getting it.So I go to the android market.I find a free app I like, but I don't see a download button or anything. How do I install it to my phone?Do I click and drag it?Is there something I'm missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to install Astro File manager without using the market? Because if I would need to install APKs in a situation where I don't have access to the market (No Internet access, etc.) I would need to use Astro File Manager and if I didn't have it installed I would need a way to install it without using the standard way of using the market.it would save me bandwidth to install it from the SD Card each time.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI know you could normally just download Astor file manager and install it off of there, but my mom is getting an android tablet (yes the $150 one from k mart) and she really wants the kindle app on it.And i read somewhere that whenever you try to open the market it force closes on that certain tablet.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have been looking for 3 days on how to install an APK that I created with my SDK on my desktop. I was able to copy the APK from my desktop to my phone but now whenever I try to install the APK on my phone I get an message INSTALL BLOCKED For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not source in android market.
Is it possible to install a non market APK to my ARIA?
Most of you got a silent upgrade to a new version of the android market a few weeks back. But this was released after velocity .3 (and I think raptor .1) came out so if you re-flash back to those you'll be without. When I re-flashed to velocity .3 my phone never got the silent upgrade, or at least not for a few days. I struggled for awhile to install the .apk manually so I figured I would write up how I did it.

There seem to be a few distinct ways to go about doing this. I've summarized them here:
Using terminal -
Note: My phone has issues mounting the file system from adb so I used a combination of adb and terminal. The terminal instructions are copied from Savox website and will create a backup of the old Vending.apk in /sdcard/archive. Android Ally
- Download the Vending.apk file here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
- Copy the New Vending.apk to a location on your sd card (I put it in the root section of the SD card because its less typing). I renamed it to Vending.apk, but you can name it whatever you would like.
From terminal:
- su
- mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
- mkdir /sdcard/archive
- cp /system/app/Vending.apk /sdcard/archive
- rm /system/app/Vending.apk
From ADB (I'm pretty certain you absolutely have to do this step):
- adb uninstall com.android.vending
From terminal:
- busybox install /sdcard/Vending.apk /system/app
Using Astro -
- Install ASTRO File Manager - ASTRO File Manager - Android app on AppBrain
- Open Astro and navigate to the Vending.apk app, select it.
- Select "Upgrade"
- Done
Using tAttachApkInstaller -
- Install tAttachApkInstaller - tAttachApkInstaller - Android app on AppBrain
- Download the apk to your computer and email it to yourself
- Open the email on your phone, and hit preview this should start tAttachApkInstaller
- Done
I was downloading 'My Market' and it just said 'Installing' and the bar didn't move for days. I've been on Wi-Fi and on 3G and nothing. I tried restarting and hard restart. Nothing. Any ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf anyone has been having problems installing apps from the marketplace (app finishes downloading but hangs during install) try this. It worked for me.
1. Log into your Google Checkout account via PC.
2. Delete all payment methods and shipping addresses.
3. Clear your market cache on the phone.
4. Install a new ROM
5. Open the market and re-download all of your apps DO NOT USE TITANIUM
I had tried multiple different methods in order to resolve this issue and this is the only thing that has fixed it for me. Others will tell you to make a new Gmail account for your phone but then you loose all purchased apps.
If you do not follow these instructions and still decide to use Titanium Backup to restore the problem will come back even if you choose to restore only the applications.
I was installing some apps from the market last night and all was going well until one application got stuck. The Market shows it as installing but nothing is happening. The Market still seems to function to load other apps but I have tried pulling the battery, cleaning the cache etc and no matter what I do when I go back to the downloads page the install on this app is still in progress. The Captivate is not rooted and I am not really keen on a hard reset as I have lots of apps and data. Any ideas from you pros out there?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning Ultimate Droid 4.0.1 and tried going to 5.0, threw me into a bootloop, had to pull the battery and restore. Prior to this I was extremely stable, never an FC and OCd to 1ghz no problem running smooth 31-40C, can easily do 1.2ghz but I don't need the extra power. All with droidmod's kernel. So now after this debacle I can't even use the market, as anytime I try to install something I freshly download it FCs. (process com.android.vending). I did do a wipe in SPRecovery before restoring. Any way to fix this constant FCing? It is 100% reproducible. I don't want to give up all my appdata, and unfortunately I don't have titanium installed, I tried but as I stated before that I can't install anything with market.
