HTC Desire :: Download Rooted Desire Latest Update?
Sep 18, 2010
I have rooted my phone and currently running DeFroST 2.7 Rom Android version 2.2, (did this back in early august) I basically would like to know what the current latest update for my HTC Desire is. Is there a newer DeFroST update out there or do i now update to Froyo 2.2? Also would like a pointer in direction of where to download the latest update from?

I just purchased my HTC Desire, its Factory unlocked and I just want to confirm the latest version of the device. mine is
Firmware Version: 2.1 update 1
Software Number: 1.21.405.2
also when froyo does come officially, will I be able to use OTA to install it? as the device I am using is not from my region, I believe it is from the UK and I'm using in Dubai - will this affect the OTA?

Okay so I rooted a few months ago, and installed a baked FroYo ROM from MoDaCo. However I want to update it to a later version. My question is this:
Since I've already rooted, and can use Hboot, can I simply copy the new zipped ROM to my SD Card, and install it through Hboot, or do I have to do through the whole rooting path again?

I'm new to Android having just bought an HTC Desire HD. Great piece of kit but I'm having a lot of problems with connectivity of various apps, especially email and market. Last night, my phone offered an OS update, which I accepted. Since then, my MS Exchange push email has stopped working. I can still sync manually from the email folder, but emails are not being pushed to the phone. Nothing's changed on the exchange side.
Questions:
Anyone else seen this behvaiour?
If so, is there a fix / work-around?
Is there a way to see an OS updates install history?
Is there a way to roll-back an update?

Navigation will work fine initially, but the next time I go to use and I enter in a destination, it just stays on the "calculating route" (or whatever it says) screen. I have to go into Applications - Maps and clear the data there, then restart and it works fine then, but it's a bit of a ball ache because that clears the list of previous destinations. Anyone else having the same problem? It was fine before the update, but I don't know if it's a Froyo issue or an issue with the map update as I updated them both on the same day.

My (original) Evo 4G is rooted, running stock and s-off. I'm not sure if I can safely download the latest ota update without destroying or damaging the root and superuser access I have now and don't know if it will switch s-off to s-on.

I rooted my desire about a month ago, and only used root access for backups. last week i got the OTA update to 2.2 and installed it, but now i think i no longer have root access. i was doing something (i forget what now) and it told me i need root access to do the task. i still have superuser permissions on my app list, but im not totally convinced. is there an easy way to find out if i still have root access?

I recently rooted my Vodafone (UK) HTC Desire after the bloated 2.1 release from Vodafone but never got around to flashing a custom rom (after problems with the clockwork recovery Amoled or SLCD). I know wish to install the clean(er) 2.2 official Vodfone OTA release but I'm having trouble. When I download OTA the phone restarts and hangs at a screen with a triangle and explanation mark. I can then get to the recovery screen where I se the error - failed, un-verified signature. what I need to do to install the Vodfone release, do I need to un-root my phone first?

I have a rooted Desire with 2.1 OS and I want to update to 2.2 but when I check in About section for a software update first System Update Available is 1.21.405.2 . Ok until now. I supose the first thing is to do this update and after reboot when I'll check to new System Software Update a 2.2 will appear.
After I download 1.21.405.2 via Wifi phone starts backup process and then reboots in a black screen with green SYNC icon and a loading bar stop loading after a few seconds an another black screen with a BIG RED question mark appears and then phone reboots as usual but with no update Why can't update in order to pass next step: 2.2 OS update ?

I have been receiving messages for a couple of weeks about an update but each time I tried to update it, it said it was corrupted and unsuccessful. I tried again yesterday and same thing twice but now I occasionly & randomly get a msg when checking for updates manually that there aren't any available. Later on, back comes the original message that an update is available. What's happening? If I'm having trouble getting the update is the update even worth having. Any clues anyone?

my g2/hero is currently rooted i did this as i couldnt wait for tmobile to release the latest rom update as ive been trying to fix my signal issues, 2 bar is the norm 3 bars is rare and 4 bars well that would be a miracle as in the 2 months of ownership ive only had 4 bars once. but my question is even though my hero is rooted is it ok to use either the new tmobile rom or the latest htc rom on a rooted hero as at the moment im using the macado rom (excuse the spelling) i thought this might of help my signal but it has remained the same. so i thought id give the htc or tmoble rom a try but i dnt want to unroot my hero as i like being able to have my apps on the sd card.

What is the best way to backup a non-rooted phone? I've searched for threads etc, but it seems that different products only backup certain info, some requiring root.I just want to backup my settings, apps and data to the SD card, or if at all possible an ftp / scp server.

Like the title, I have a HTC Desire with root access (done using unrEVOked), and now I want to do my App2SD+, BUT I don't want to use a custom ROM, unless it is absolutely necessary/benefits outweigh the potential cataclysm that might follow. Or do I really need a custom ROM?

I have talk talk, and my internet is unusable unless I've lowered the mtu to 1458 or 1432 or something like that. My router doesn't support it, so I've had to do it on each device using it manually (boooo). Worked out how to do it on the PC and notebook, but is it even possible on my desire? Or should I go and buy a new router that DOES allow me to change it (in which case, any recommendations?)?

I've uploaded a pre-rooted version of HTC's latest ROM. This is basically stock with root, except I've disabled the annoying boot sound. It includes radio 5.09.05.30_2.To install you must be rooted with custom recovery. A full wipe shouldn't be necessary if you're currently on an official rom, since this isn't modified from stock. Do a nandroid backup before you install. There's no changelog from 2.09.405.8, but I've noticed my GPS problems went away.
