I'm a little confused about how to adjust all of the various sound settings quickly and easily in this phone. If I turn the "Ringer Volume" to vibrate, it still makes sounds when I get an email? Seems like there should be a quick and easy way to disable or enable all sounds from the device. Is there anything like that?

I am trying to play the same 10 sounds very quickly and wondering what is the best way?
1. Make 10 media players
2. Make 1 media player and set the sound each time
3. Use a soundpool?
I have a Droid Bionic. I like it. But I was recently having some GMail syncing issues and during the troubleshooting for that I uninstalled the latest GMail update and reinstalled it. As a result, GMail is now doing audible notificatrion sounds for new email when before I only had notification in t he notification bar. I can't seem to get it turned off. I still want calendar events and texts to sound so I don't want to silence the phone but I want email and GMail to be silent (Notification icon only).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a 3GS iPhone for a short while and while the device was nice, I didnt like it that much. For one I hate iTunes and did not like the lack of customization. Also, I use Windows Vista and the integration with Outlook 2007 was a pain. I am very intersted in WM devices and Android. What is going to be the best for me considereing the above? Do Android and WM sync with Outlook the same and better than the iPhone?

View 17 Replies View RelatedPerhaps there is a thread already about this but I discovered today that if you long press on an app and then drag it down to the trash can and then hold it on the trash can for a few seconds a text pops up telling you to let go to uninstall.I have uninstaller, but this is a really handy quick way to uninstall a single app. Hope it helps.This applies only to Launcher Pro, apparently it does not work with stock as stated by the below posters. Sorry about the confusion.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've looked for other threads about editing Swype's dictionary but have found none, so will ask here: I love using Swype Lite (1.16.12.5228) but have found the dictionary and the little word options popup to be less than helpful. I've tried to add words individually per the instructions saying to add each letter carefully then press the space bar, but the new word doesn't seem to be available the next time. And when I do try to enter 1 letter at a time it automatically adds another letter and spaces to each of the letters I'm trying to tap in. I would love to know if I can access Swype's dictionary through the SD card or wherever, and go in there and edit the shit out of it. Anybody know how, or if it's possible?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an easier way of switching my input method/keyboard rather than digging through the menus. (I'm using a Droid X, btw.) I constantly switch between the standard mutlitouch keyboard and the Korean keyboard 단글한글. Multitouch lets you hold down on one of the corner keys to bring up the input method selection, but any other keyboard seems to require going all the way back into my settings to change it, often forcing me to stop what I'm doing and jump out of the current application. Any recommendations? I've looked up things like Keyboard Widget, or Keyboard Manager, but haven't had any luck. On that note, if there's any devs out there that would want to create such a app...

This seems like a much needed app and apparently it exists just not for the Droid, because I used it with my Blackberry.I just want something easy and simple that I can make my grocery list either on my Eris itself or on my desktop and have it sync up. I hate having to enter everything directly on the phone and would like to see the same notes/tasks on my PC and this also enables me to print them as well. Outlook synced up with my Blackberry and it was just a simple effort to see all my notes right there on Outlook and also on my BB. It seems like everyone is looking for this, so why hasn't it been done? Why does Eris sync up with my Outlook calendar and contacts but not my notes and tasks? Google docs seems just like the name says - docs. I just want notes to be synced to my pc. I currently using Color Notes and Easy Notes to keep stuff on my phone but, again, want it to sync with PC.

If I press Phone, there's no option to choose a group.I can pless People, Groups, <group name>, <contact>, Call mobile. Not exactly quick and easy. I've been using the People widget. It can show 9 contacts, or 3 contacts, from a predefined group, and you can scroll for more. I've had two 3-contact instances on a screen, Favorites and Co-workers. That's all that will fit. But I don't have pictures on any of my contacts anymore. The link to Facebook was just too buggy, so I removed it. So the People widget takes up a lot of space for just 6 names, and I need to scroll it most of the time (actually I can only see 4 of the names when it's scrolled to the top). On one whole screen. I'd like a button that brings up all contacts from a predefined group and lets me click one to call him/her. Or a compact widget that lists just the names in a group and calls when I click. Is there anything like that?

I tried to use windows media player and I thought it was going to be really easy, but for some reason the pictures that I took today do not show up. I can see them on my phone, but I can't see them through windows media player. All my pictures prior to today do show up in windows media player.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanna start out by saying I love my droid but on thing that bugs the crap out of me is the finish on the top of the thing. It looks nice and polished for a few weeks but then it starts to chip like crazy. The screen is holding up perfectly its just the corners of the bezel. I think they should have gone wth a matte or aluminum finish or even the soft finish like on the battery cover.

I am trying to find an app which makes transferring things to and fro easily with bluetooth. I have downloaded 'bluetooth file transfer' and find it a little complicated for easy transfers of pictures, music etc. I can send items but nobody seems to be able to find me to send me anything (phone is set to discoverable). I think it is great app just a little too much for what I want to do!

I have an Ainol Novo 7 Paladin tablet running android ICS 4.0.3 (rooted) that I want to use in one of my projects. And I need it to communicate with an arduino - one with FTDI or prolific PL2303 serial interface. Now I know that the Paladin should work as an USB host but I need something more. I need an high level Java library that can use this serial interface. I've worked with rxtx on a desktop machine before and that is the most complicated that I would like to get. The main reason is that I simply don't have enough knowledge to write myself an serial driver. I just need a simple character based two way communication.

I found many threads on various forums, all slightly different and all assuming you have a certain level of knowledge about certain things. There was no easy, step by step guide.So I decided to post my guide up here for anyone who like me, wants to uninstall system apps but hasn't the foggiest.This is for if you have the ROM already installed and don't want to do a wipe/re-install. for ROMs you are about to install, just open the zip, browse to systemapp and delete the .apk prior to installation.Enjoy your bloatware free ROM. I'm looking for calendar widget (or app with widget) that will allow me to easily toggle between several different google calendars.
I like the stock HTC calendar widget & app on my Desire, and just having the full calendar widget (with a little coloured triangle on any day with something on) seen here. But I have several different Google calendars (work, partner's work schedule, non-work events, holidays/birthdays, etc) so if I leave them all shown I look too busy every day.
I'd like a calendar widget that lets me toggle the displayed calendars on and off with, say, 2 taps instead of going all through the tree (menu, more, calendars, tickybox, back, back).
Failing that, I'd like another calendar widget that displays in the same month-grid style and can hold the setting to display only my work calendar (while leaving the other widget on the other home screen displaying all google calendars).
I've looked a bit but only see things that don't sync with Google, or only display a week-view, etc. Any ideas?
Basically, I'd like to install the Slide Screen launcher on my Desire, but I don't know if I can switch back to Sense easily. Is there a way to do this, via a simple means, or by downloading a specific launcher switching app?
I'm not comfortable enough with Android yet to Root my phone, but if that is the only way, then so be it. (Although I doubt it is, what with the lovely customisation options we have at our disposal).
When I bought my EVO today they synced my contacts from my Verizon phone to my EVO. It looks like they are all in my phone as "phone" instead of "google" as contact type. So none of them sync to my gmail account. Is there anyway to easily change the designation so they sync instead of having to reenter them individually?
