I wanna start out by saying I love my droid but on thing that bugs the crap out of me is the finish on the top of the thing. It looks nice and polished for a few weeks but then it starts to chip like crazy. The screen is holding up perfectly its just the corners of the bezel. I think they should have gone wth a matte or aluminum finish or even the soft finish like on the battery cover.

I've heard that the screen is like the HD2 and that thing does not scratch whatever you do to it, but what about the back? I've heard that the texture is the same as the Hero.
View 20 Replies View RelatedWhile looking at my screen in bright sunlight this morning, I noticed there are some light scratches that appear to be under the screen. I can only see them in direct sunlight or under a bright desk light while holding the phone at a certain angle. Is this at all normal? I just got the phone on Friday and noticed this immediately and haven't dropped it, pocketed it with keys, etc. I would think if the scratches were on the outside of the glass, they would be easier to notice. Would you send it back for a replacement?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving owned the droid for one day I already have a scratch on the plastic/metal? the side where you plug in the USB. Underneath there are a bunch of scribbles when I tried to plug it in the dark. Also the rubber on the back of the device... the rubber strip that is on top of the camera also has a noticeable tear. I have done nothing to the device except keep it in a clean pocket that had nothing else in it. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Seems like solid build quality with the internal hardware well protected but I worry it can easily be cosmetically damaged.

They were wowed allright but the next day I noticed very very faint scratches on my screen.I gave the screen a good rub with my shirt and they disappeared along with the smudges and dust so i didnt think anything of it.I just checked again a few min ago and I saw those same scratches imprinted in the dust and smudges that had gotten on the screen.I again gave it a good rub and they dissappeared but I'm starting to wonder how the heck is this even happening?

It's not bad enough to have a texture (I can't feel it if I rub my finger over it), but it does reflect the light in just a way that makes it fairly visible when a light background is displayed. I'm always very careful with my phone, and I have no idea how it got scratched.I've heard of numerous home remedy type fixes for screens, but some of them sound completely outlandish and some sound like they might damage the screen even worse. Is there any "real" way to fix it or am I stuck with the scratch?Also, does anyone have any recommendations for screen protectors? I've heard that lots of them mess with the touch screen or distort the picture. Are there any truly "good" screen protectors?
View 30 Replies View RelatedPerhaps there is a thread already about this but I discovered today that if you long press on an app and then drag it down to the trash can and then hold it on the trash can for a few seconds a text pops up telling you to let go to uninstall.I have uninstaller, but this is a really handy quick way to uninstall a single app. Hope it helps.This applies only to Launcher Pro, apparently it does not work with stock as stated by the below posters. Sorry about the confusion.

I tried to use windows media player and I thought it was going to be really easy, but for some reason the pictures that I took today do not show up. I can see them on my phone, but I can't see them through windows media player. All my pictures prior to today do show up in windows media player.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I finish a call on my Droid it displays the "cute" little android dude and seems to always have a Cadillax CRX/Google Advert. Anyway to change the pic. I found an app that shows constellations instead but I wonder if this is something I can just do myself? And why are there adverts, it doesn't really bother me but I didn't get some special deal on the phone so why should I be forced to see the Advertising? Oh I just had a thought - is this a result of using google voice?
View 5 Replies View RelatedUnless I am entirely missing something (which is certainly possible), I can't seem to easily create a playlist based on all music in a *folder* using the stock music player. I have to select each song one-by-one out of a list of all my songs on the phone, which is tedious and time-consuming. If I'm missing it, please let me know. In the meantime, I downloaded a very basic player called "Player." It does allow you to create playlists based on all music in a folder.
When you navigate to a music folder and select some or all of the music in the folder to play, "Player" creates a temporary playlist with all of the music selected. NOTE: A message pops up saying ONE song has been added to the playlist, but this is incorrect (unless you've only selected one to play). If you've chosen multiple or all of the songs in the folder to play, it actually creates the playlist with all the selected songs in it. Since the playlist created is a temporary playlist, so you must go into the "playlist" area to rename it to what you want. If you don't, then the next time you select a folder to play music from, it will likely overwrite the first temporary playlist with the new one.
It's actually very, very easy (much easier than scrolling through to select each song). The playlists created by "Player" automatically show up in the stock music player as well and can be played there. One negative to "Player" is that it appears to display the wrong album art. If that's a big deal, then simply revert to the stock player and run your playlists from there. I realize there are other music apps in the markets, so this wouldn't apply if you prefer one of those, obviously.
With this sample code, the activity is told to finish, but continues execution afterwards and displays the message. I'm trying to understand why this happens. The only fix I can think of is to place 'return' after finish.

I've had this issue since the 2.2 leaks (2.2.9-2.3.15 and now with RubiX) and have finally gotten tired of it. When downloading apps or updates from the market, 1/2 the time it'll finish downloading but then won't install. It just hangs there at 100% and nothing happens no matter how long I leave it there. I have to cancel download and then re-download, sometimes multiple times, before it'll install it automatically. This happens with every app, and while I do eventually get everything install, it will still very annoying. Does anyone else have this issue?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running a droid x currently unrooted (but have been rooted since 2.1).
I have rooted every install of 2.2 except for my current one (for testing purposes).
The problem is that every two or so weeks ever since installing the 2.2 OTA I have to do a factory reset in order for my 3G internet to work on the phone.
Let me explain the symptoms. Randomly the phone will refuse to finish loading webpages or market items over 3G. Sometimes after waiting a real long time or clicking a lot it will load the pages... but sometimes it will not. The internet still functions fine on the phone over wifi connection, and here's the real surprise: I can tether my laptop via both wireless tether and barnacle I get full speed on the computer even though on the phone it won't load. It always ends up taking a factory reset before it will work again.
I have 3G and my signal bars are fine.
I have been trying to figure this out for weeks. Here are the things I've tried so far:
-Cycle phone off and on multiple times.
-Cycle wifi and airplane mode multiple times.
-Multiple battery pulls.
-Clear cache and force close every application and service known to man.
-Uninstall various applications to see if they are causing problems.
-Remove SU privileges from different/all root apps.
-Try different browsers.
-*228 both options 1 and 2
-Repair privileges.
I have done a facory reset with froyo 4 times now. Each time within 2-12 days the problem returns and I can't fix it without a reset. The last three times I've reset I have gone through the whole process skipping every option to install accounts etc. as recommended to many guides.
There are some minor scratches in the window that the camera lens uses to take pictures on the battery cover. Even if I don't get all of them (some MIGHT be too deep, its hard to tell whether my fingernail catches or not in that little area), it would still be better if I could get some of them out. Any way I can do this without harming the lens even more?The scratches are on the outside of the cover, btw, not the tiny circle opening on the inside.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've looked for other threads about editing Swype's dictionary but have found none, so will ask here: I love using Swype Lite (1.16.12.5228) but have found the dictionary and the little word options popup to be less than helpful. I've tried to add words individually per the instructions saying to add each letter carefully then press the space bar, but the new word doesn't seem to be available the next time. And when I do try to enter 1 letter at a time it automatically adds another letter and spaces to each of the letters I'm trying to tap in. I would love to know if I can access Swype's dictionary through the SD card or wherever, and go in there and edit the shit out of it. Anybody know how, or if it's possible?

-first complain is that the eris camera looses focus easily of not perfectly still,ok granted it might just be me holding it wrong
-second and worse of all is when trying to take a night shot I know its not going to be great.
I have a parent activity (as ACTIVITY GROUP) and some child activity of this parent activity (as ACTIVITY).
I am just calling child1 now i want to move from child1 to child2 and just want to finish() child1.
But when i am calling finish() it is also finishing the parent activity.
I had an idea of buying an cheap screen protector to cut out a circle for the camera on the evo 4g. Anyone else have an idea on how to protect the evo's camera. And will this mess up picture or video quality.

The only thing the scratches can be from is putting it in and taking it out of my left blue jean pocket. Also, the USB cable / phone connector seems a little flimsy. Anyone having issues with that too?

I want to keep my evo in pristine condition and want something that won't scratch it and that I can get in less then a weak. I saw the active seidio case on amazon but shipping estimates are 3-4 weeks from now and that just won't happen. I know I will probably have to go with a silicon case and I'm ok with that.

God I am so careful not to put anything in the same pocket as my phone but the one time I was out in board shorts and had to put them in there together all over my screen! I hate screen protectors because I LOVE the feel of the glass and hated my Droid with its Zaggs protector. Oh well I guess I have proof for anyone thinking these screens are scratch proof.

If I do get something to protect my phone, what is the best material/brand/manufacturer to go with? Or perhaps just a leather case would be enough? That way the screen stays perfect and it's still protected when I'm not using it.
After all, I heard the screen quality is pretty good. It's glass, or am I thinking of a different phone? It might not be a "Gorilla" screen like the Samsung Galaxy, but I've heard it's pretty resilient. I think it should be ok with just a leather case, unless anyone here's already got some bad experiences with the screen?

Unfortunately I picked up some minor scratches on the screen even though I was very careful! Can anyone suggest a way to remove the scratches?
