How can I set my default launcher to LauncherPro or froyo, I want to be able to switch between the two and set one of them as the default but be able to change it back, the only app in market atm is homeswitcher but it does not support froyo atm, and from the looks of it, the developer says he cant do it cause of the new api's in froyo.

I'm looking for an easier way of switching my input method/keyboard rather than digging through the menus. (I'm using a Droid X, btw.) I constantly switch between the standard mutlitouch keyboard and the Korean keyboard 단글한글. Multitouch lets you hold down on one of the corner keys to bring up the input method selection, but any other keyboard seems to require going all the way back into my settings to change it, often forcing me to stop what I'm doing and jump out of the current application. Any recommendations? I've looked up things like Keyboard Widget, or Keyboard Manager, but haven't had any luck. On that note, if there's any devs out there that would want to create such a app...

I'm not comfortable enough with Android yet to Root my phone, but if that is the only way, then so be it. (Although I doubt it is, what with the lovely customisation options we have at our disposal).
I have a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 (build JWR66Y), with the stock ROM. I recently started using other launchers, at first Nova. I did notice, however, random reboots ever since. I thought it might be some new apps, but even uinstalling them didn't solve the problem. Then I switched to Action Launcher, and after a few hours of use, the reboots started all over again.
Now I'm running only the original launcher, no troubles at all. How to solve this issue with third party launchers?
Really need some help. I have a BB Bold on AT&T running through my companies BES.. If I remove the SIM from the BOLD and place it in the Nexus...can I then sync using Active Sync to get to my corporate e-mail, calendar and contacts? Or, since I have a BB now would I need to have the plan changed to a regular data plan from a BB data plan? I am not sure? I dont have the option of asking our IT group as we don't support Android yet....

I recently had to sell my Nexus to free up some quick cash for a lens i needed for my photography business i am working on. So i picked up a 9700 as a "Get me by" phone. Its been 4 weeks and i miss android BAD. I dont think i can live with out a touch screen phone. I am considering picking up a Vibrant, but everyones reviews on here scare me. Is it just because we are in a forum and people typically only post the problems they have with the phone and it just makes things look like a bigger issue than they really are? Will i be underwhelmed coming to the vibrant after having a past experiance with the Nexus? Or are there actually people on here loving there vibrant and not having lag/gps issues?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe switch has been a bit finicky for a few months. Today it stopped working all together. I couldn't turn the phone on except my plugging in power. Then I couldn't shut it off. I pulled the battery to try and reboot but now I can't turn it on. I opened the back but there is a star shaped screw and another with a void sticker on it. I was thinking of taking a look at the button leads to see if there is something lodged in there of perhaps if they were just dirty, I could clean them to get a better connection....but I will be crossing a line if I do.
The big question is....who do I turn to regarding a repair? Since I bought it from google, I don't think T-mobile will help. Once I finally reach the right person at google, they will most likely say ship it to us and we will look at it when we get around to it.
In January, I acquired a Nexus 7, and in July, I met my boyfriend. Yesterday, I suggested that we put a user account for him on the tablet, so that he could have quicker access to his own email, writing and so forth. This we accordingly did, and he has been having great fun installing apps for chess and ukelele playing, as well as working on his writing. However, this means that the lock screen is back. The lock screen irritates the b*ggery out of me, and I disabled it as fast as I could when I originally bought the tablet. The way you are meant to switch accounts, however, involves bringing up the lock screen every time, and it also means the lock screen appears whenever the tablet is wakened from sleep. I tried disabling the lock screen, but then we couldn't switch user accounts.
So far, the best solution I've found is to have a desktop widget for the No Lock app, so that I can have the lock screen disabled during the day, when I'm the only one using the tablet, and then put it back on when my boyfriend is around and we're both using the tablet. This will probably be fairly manageable, and I realise that I'm whingeing about a few seconds of screen-swiping here and there, but what would be really lovely would be if we could just have a widget we could press on our home screens that allowed us to switch user accounts, without all this faffing around with lock screens. I've been hunting through Google Play apps, and so far all I've encountered is one which sounds thoroughly dodgy and may not even do what I want.
I read that many people in my situation can't text/ receive messages with iphone because of the tricky iMessage.
But my friend's iphone 4s cannot receive 20-50% of my texts, could it be a network issue?
My old Iphone 4s' mother board was dead so ofcourse I did not turn off iMessage.
I know with Sense you can have multiple scenes, but when i switch over to a different launcher, i dont see an option for Scenes. Is this possible?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Zeam, Launcher Pro +, SLideScreen, SparkBETA & Zune Home launchers. I love Zeam and Launcher Pro +, but they are extremely similar to the stock home. I have no need for multiple screens and love having just one. SlideScreen is awesome but it crashes wayy too much. Zune Home is more of a basic, i like it but got bored with it quite quickly. I'm suuper in love with SparkBETA, it has the most beautiful UI IMO but because its in beta, its very laggy.So do you guys know of any interesting home launchers I have not stumbled upon yet? Any suggestions?

I now have a requirement to update my .apk files to 2.2 as well as build 6 additional .apk files that are made up of 6 completely different URL launchers to other WAP sites. I have successfully set up my Java and SDK environment My questions are: What is the best recommendation the group can suggest as a starting point? How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the changes necessary? Although, HTC has figured out how to make a mighty fine bookmarks and calendar widget.I have tried LauncherPro and ADW but as most EVO users, battery life is a constant worry.Can anyone spell out how launchers and Android work battery wise? I have read that Sense is never really replaced so there would be an additional drain using launchers right? No offense but please abstain from any root related suggestions like 'just root it bro'

However, now when I press the "Home" button, only the default launcher takes over. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both but nothing changed. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I might be able to get it so that I can switch launchers again?

I was interested if I could add htc widgets to that home screen so i wont be stuck with those crappy default android. I am well aware that you can download new widgets off of the market but none of them are of the same caliber of the htc widgets.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried using both launcher pro and ADW launcher, who have a reputation of being light launchers, and no matter how much I mess about with the settings, I always experience the same thing:
1: They are often not fluid when swiping screens, showing a little sign of lag or sluggishness that you do not experience with the Sense UI and which drives me crazy.
2: When unlocking the phones, the first swipe is always followed by a noticeable amount of latency.
This bothers me quite a bit, because I really like these launchers and I know of no other way to get the (from my POV) main advantage behind them (the dock).Any advice? I have tried messing about with the memory settings etc to no avail.
I understand that widgets can use power; especially the ones that update (news, weather, etc.).
What I'm curious about is when you have launchers like Go Launcher and Launcher Pro Plus. If you have them both, what is happening to the widgets that are on the launcher you're not using (including the stock launcher). Are those widgets drawing power to update, even though you aren't seeing them? Should you delete all widgets, except for the launcher you're currently using?
I know there are quite a few alternative Launchers for Android out there, but what I want is to change the UI more then just a bit. I would love to have a "Swipe UI" like the one from the Nokia N9...

i am using spb for a long time.but there are many other cool, clean launchers which do not need as much cpu/ram.so i do not need most of the spb thinks. i do not use most of the spb widgets.but i really really love the 3d sms and 3d birthday widget.
It is not possible to get widgets running outside there own launcher.i searched the web for a really long time to find widgets which are looking as cool as this 2 widgets.tell me such widgets so that i can drop spb and use it in an other launcher?
I would like to change the icons of my folders to indicate their contents. So, for example, my folder for my ebook reader apps could be an image of a book, my folder of GPS-related programs could be an image of a globe, and so on I am using ADW.Launcher, if that makes a difference Are there any utilities or launchers that let you change the look of individual folders?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI decided to try Kies again. I set it up and hard set my USB connection on the phone to Samsung Kies. I plugged in my phone and didn't even get the notification from Windows that a USB device was plugged in.I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in, this time watching the phone. A very quick message popped up on the phone that said"PC connection available only in idle screen.Close running applications."I checked TasKiller and there wasn't anything running.I scratched my head for a minute and then on a hunch used Home Switcher to change my default and running home screen to TouchWiz. I plugged/unplugged my phone and it worked! It said "MTP application", gave the USB symbol and connected.I then switched my home screen/Launcher to LauncherPro and tried it. It failed like ADW did with the same error! I'm not sure what gives there, but it's something you may want to investigate if you're having trouble using an MTP application like Samsung Kies.
