I just have to say that the camera quality seems to be really lacking on the eris
-first complain is that the eris camera looses focus easily of not perfectly still,ok granted it might just be me holding it wrong
-second and worse of all is when trying to take a night shot I know its not going to be great.

I've looked for other threads about editing Swype's dictionary but have found none, so will ask here: I love using Swype Lite (1.16.12.5228) but have found the dictionary and the little word options popup to be less than helpful. I've tried to add words individually per the instructions saying to add each letter carefully then press the space bar, but the new word doesn't seem to be available the next time. And when I do try to enter 1 letter at a time it automatically adds another letter and spaces to each of the letters I'm trying to tap in. I would love to know if I can access Swype's dictionary through the SD card or wherever, and go in there and edit the shit out of it. Anybody know how, or if it's possible?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI loved the camera on the Eris and the Incredible, not only did they have a whole lot more of a crisp high-res detail, the auto-focus absolutely rocked. With my droid x, I can be getting a little artsy and focus on an object with the crosshair but it'll take me 20 tries to get it to lock on, its insane, I know I'm not getting too close to my subject because it will definitely eventually focus on that object if I try over and over and over again. It's not just close ups that I find myself and my buddy with this issue either. macro shooting mode does not help. My buddie's droid X has the same exact behaviors. Eris and incredible just LOCKED ON first try with even very low contrast / detail subjects, on top of that, have a ton better camera GUI when it comes to "click to focus". I know this thing ain't no SLR but, blows me away of how terrible the camera performance is vs. the HTC android based devices. Ihink motorola will fix this? I know this thing ain't no SLR but it just blows me away how the HTC android devices camera performance (except for video) blows the Droid X away.

Have turned phone on and off, removed widget and put it back, looked in settings for some settings for pictures, nada, that I can find.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy SGS looses time. Everyday it looses approximately 7-8 minutes. So when the alarm starts at 7:30 am, the time actually is 7:37. I've tried manually to change the time, but the next morning I have the same problem. I've tried both Automatic ("use network-provided values") and manually settings, but it does'nt work. My firmware is the Froyo JP3 version.
View 11 Replies View Related I have a Motorola Atrix2, running Android 2.3.6 on AT&T. I have used Google Talk since getting the phone last December, but for the past week have had trouble.
When I wake the phone I find that I am no longer signed into Talk. My contact list is subdued in grey, a notice appears at the bottom of my chat window saying that the connection with the server has been lost, and my 4G icon has gone from blue to white indicating that I no longer am connected to Google.
I haven't done anything to the phone / settings to cause this. I've tried many things to fix this including: rebooting, hard booting, force stop the application and clearing it's data (cache is always empty), and replacing the SIM. Needless to say none of these steps have worked. I have not tried a factory reset as I have read elsewhere of people trying this with no luck.
As far as I have been able to tell, this problem only happens when connected to my service plan, I have never noticed this happening when hooked onto WI-FI
Having searched online all I can find that might be at fault is the version of Android (the phone originally had 2.3.4 but was upgraded several months ago), and the fact that AT&T has recently upgraded to "true 4G LTE" in my area. I have no idea if either of these are actually the cause of my problem.
Google Talk is one of my two main means of communication and I really need this resolved.
Perhaps there is a thread already about this but I discovered today that if you long press on an app and then drag it down to the trash can and then hold it on the trash can for a few seconds a text pops up telling you to let go to uninstall.I have uninstaller, but this is a really handy quick way to uninstall a single app. Hope it helps.This applies only to Launcher Pro, apparently it does not work with stock as stated by the below posters. Sorry about the confusion.

I tried to use windows media player and I thought it was going to be really easy, but for some reason the pictures that I took today do not show up. I can see them on my phone, but I can't see them through windows media player. All my pictures prior to today do show up in windows media player.

It looks nice and polished for a few weeks but then it starts to chip like crazy. The screen is holding up perfectly its just the corners of the bezel. I think they should have gone wth a matte or aluminum finish or even the soft finish like on the battery cover.

Acrobat Reader and QuickOffice free do not have the ability to search a PDF.
BeamReader Pro can search a document, but won't make use of an embedded index, so searches are slow, even on pre-indexed PDFs.
BeamReader looses its mind when you switch from portrait to landscape.
Acrobat Reader and QuickOffice recognize phone numbers in PDFs, so you can tap to dial them on Android, but BeamReader Pro does not.
I am very disappointed with all of the above. Is there anything better? I see that there is a US$9.99 paid version of QuickOffice, but the description does not mention capabilities pertaining to PDFs.
I upgraded to r7 and its amazing fast.Only problem i have w it is the stock camera looses the zoom function.Is there an ap out that might fix this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad the phone for around 10 days now and thankfully I am starting to get more and more use out of it, especially after tweaking some settings and what not, and over the past 2 days I am closing in on getting 24 hours from one charge with what I consider fairly heavy use (well heavier than what I used my old Pixon and that needed charged daily). The one thing that is bugging me though is this, I put the phone on charge before I go to bed, I wake up and it is around 90% (give or take a few %). Now I realize that the phones doesn't trickle charge but when I check the drain on juiceplotter, at the same time every morning, it drains.
5am-5:30am it goes down 10% or so, with out fail. It loses the charge in around about half an hour, meaning when I get up in the morning I need to pop it back on charge for a bit to get it back up to 100%. Not a huge hassle but it is irking me somewhat now. When I check programs running etc, there is nothing untoward on the go that isn't on during the day. I half though the phone was not sleeping during this time but after 5:30 the drain stops and it goes back to normal.
I am thinking about buying a Droid but I need to sync Outlook contacts and calender easily. I mean easily as I do now with my blackberry curve. Does anyone know the answer?
View 6 Replies View RelatedUnless I am entirely missing something (which is certainly possible), I can't seem to easily create a playlist based on all music in a *folder* using the stock music player. I have to select each song one-by-one out of a list of all my songs on the phone, which is tedious and time-consuming. If I'm missing it, please let me know. In the meantime, I downloaded a very basic player called "Player." It does allow you to create playlists based on all music in a folder.
When you navigate to a music folder and select some or all of the music in the folder to play, "Player" creates a temporary playlist with all of the music selected. NOTE: A message pops up saying ONE song has been added to the playlist, but this is incorrect (unless you've only selected one to play). If you've chosen multiple or all of the songs in the folder to play, it actually creates the playlist with all the selected songs in it. Since the playlist created is a temporary playlist, so you must go into the "playlist" area to rename it to what you want. If you don't, then the next time you select a folder to play music from, it will likely overwrite the first temporary playlist with the new one.
It's actually very, very easy (much easier than scrolling through to select each song). The playlists created by "Player" automatically show up in the stock music player as well and can be played there. One negative to "Player" is that it appears to display the wrong album art. If that's a big deal, then simply revert to the stock player and run your playlists from there. I realize there are other music apps in the markets, so this wouldn't apply if you prefer one of those, obviously.
Is there one? I know how to take pictures so its not me, wasnt a problem with my 2.1. Except for the pixel issue. Camera won't focus correctly.

But the camera still won't focus. I've installed 2.0.1 both OTA and Manually, no difference.
I think a trip to Verizon Monday is in my future. it will only focus in obscenely bright light. Any other situation it's just blurry.
Yes, my lens is clean haha.
Looks like Droid #3 will be on the way. Unless someone else has ideas I have yet to try.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy camera used to work perfectly. My pics were amazing, and it was just amazing. The focus was never off. Clear, crisp, sharp images. Now, out of nowhere it seems, the camera won't focus. My images are EXTREMELY blurry. It's terrible. Even when I'm just setting up to take the pic, the image looks blurry on the screen. It's bad enough that I can no longer even get the barcode scanner to work. I'm assuming that something wrong with my lens and not anything to do with software etc. And yes, I've cleaned it. And cleaned it. And cleaned it to no avail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had nothing but great success with the leaked Froyo that I've been running since Saturday afternoon. Battery life seems to be improved, haven't noticed any FC's, etc... until today. I know that the Droid has had some camera issues namely the 24.5 auto focus bug and the auto focus hardware becomes faulty but this is new to me. I didn't have this problem with 2.0.1, stock 2.1, rooted 2.1, Pete's BB, Fab's NexBeast. There have been numerous kernels on the phone as well and going back through my gallery nothing was blurry. I have wiped the lens, made sure the camera app is on auto-focus, I've clicked the button once, twice, halfway, a dozen times, etc and I've even tried FXCamera - if the subject is more than 6" away it is blurry. I'm running the 1.0 P3 kernel but 1.1 & 1.2 have given me the same issue. I've tried this at 1Ghz, 800, 600 & 400Mhz. I know this is pre-release but is anyone else having the same issue?

I've also been having a lot of issues with the headphone jack, what should I do? btw, my insurance on my phone is protectcell. Do you think they would consider upgrading me to a Droid 2 or a better phone? (my phones rooted, I changed roms to see if that was the issue, but the problem still occurs)

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo does anyone know the location of the sound file for the double-beep camera focus? I found the "camera_click" and the "videorecord" sound files but don't see the one for the focus. It's not located in system/media/audio/ui like the other 2 camera sound files.
I really hate the double-beep focus sound and yes I know 3rd party camera applications will enable you to silence it but I was looking to just replace the sound file with a silent sound file instead.
Anytime I try to access my camera utility, through pressing the camera button, choosing the camera icon, or choosing the camcorder icon, the auto focus clicks like normal but the program does not open. The screen just goes black for a second and opens once more on the main screen. When I take the SD card out it works fine, but otherwise nothing will work. I have tried a factory reset, uninstalling several programs, and power cycling over and over again.

I'm a little confused about how to adjust all of the various sound settings quickly and easily in this phone. If I turn the "Ringer Volume" to vibrate, it still makes sounds when I get an email?
