Motorola Droid X :: Uninstalling Apps Easily

Jul 28, 2010

Perhaps there is a thread already about this but I discovered today that if you long press on an app and then drag it down to the trash can and then hold it on the trash can for a few seconds a text pops up telling you to let go to uninstall.I have uninstaller, but this is a really handy quick way to uninstall a single app. Hope it helps. This applies only to Launcher Pro, apparently it does not work with stock as stated by the below posters. Sorry about the confusion.

HTC Droid Eris :: Low Memory / Uninstalling Apps

Dec 3, 2009

Just switched from a blackberry for the past 3 years to the eris. Loving the phone loving android its amazing compared to my storm1. Just a couple basic questions to ask real quick.

1. App memory. On my blackberry I got into the habit of constantly checking my app memory. I have about 12 apps installed and jump around 30-55 available memory. Should I be worried about my app memory and keep freeing it up?

2. How many apps do you all have installed I see tons of apps I want but I tend to uninstall them because of app memory.

HTC Droid Eris :: Uninstalling Unused Apps And Clearing The Browser Cache

Apr 10, 2010

I synced up with my computer after uninstalling unused apps and clearing the browser cache and a few others, just general clean up to keep the phone running smooth. After roaming around my sd card, I came across this. A total of 84 cache files totaling 3.24mb. What is this from and is it ok to delete them? I'm assuming it is since it is just cache, which you can delete any of theme xcept for google nav (force close issues).

Motorola Droid :: Finish Scratches To Easily

Mar 4, 2010

I wanna start out by saying I love my droid but on thing that bugs the crap out of me is the finish on the top of the thing. It looks nice and polished for a few weeks but then it starts to chip like crazy. The screen is holding up perfectly its just the corners of the bezel. I think they should have gone wth a matte or aluminum finish or even the soft finish like on the battery cover.

Android :: Uninstalling Preinstalled Apps?

May 11, 2010

Just got the new HTC Incredible. Awesome phone and this forum has already been a huge help, so I figured I'd join and ask my first question. The phone of course came with some apps already installed. I went to uninstall them, but it doesn't show up. Is there a way to do it with out getting all into moving files and all that stuff? I basically want to get rid of Friend Stream and the Desk Clock (since the other app, Clock, has the desk clock and is the same thing, just a different default setting when you open it).I'd like to maybe ditch the GMail app too, because the Mail app is set up to my gmail and does everything I want it to do.

Android :: Uninstalling Apps Best Practice

Jun 23, 2010

I have had my Desire no for almost 2 months, and like most I have tried installing and uninstalling many apps, to see what I like.Due to doing a factory reset on my phone yesterday I have layered back all the apps I was using and have noticed that I have used considerably less memory than before, making me very suspicious of the uninstall method used within the market place.Does it leave behind pieces of the app, and if so what's the cleanest method of uninstalling apps.

Android :: Uninstalling Apps Not From The Marketplace

May 18, 2010

I installed some apps hosted on mediafire (Gallery3D, Voice Search, etc). I was following links from a well known page recommending tips and improvements to an HTC Desire. How do you uninstall stuff like that? Normally you have to go via the market, but in this case I can't.Having read the thread on unsafe apps, I'm worried I've got these things from an untrusted source.

This is my first android phone (coming from a BB) and I could usually remove apps from the listing of core apps in the desktop software, but haven't learned how to do this with the Android OS. The specific apps I'm talking about are the ones that came on the phone like Twitter, Flickr, and Peep.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Need Advice On Uninstalling Apps

Mar 22, 2010

I'm new to Android and just got a Hero a couple weeks ago so I'm searching all the forums (and other Android sites) for useful tips. So far, I'm impressed with the Android OS, the Hero and even like HTC's Sense UI. There are some apps included with the phone that I don't want/need (ex: Sprint TV, Nascar, HTC Widgets, etc.) I'd like to uninstall them but based on what I've read in some posts some apps can't or shouldn't be uninstalled is that correct? If so, which apps? Do I need an uninstaller or does "managing applications" work just as well?I've seen many posts advising the best way to get clean-up your phone (get rid of the bundled bloat, etc.) is to "root" your phone but doesn't that process erase/over-write the HTC-customized version with the "plain vanilla" Android OS? If I root my Hero, won't I lose access to the Sense UI components that I wanted to keep?

HTC Desire :: How To Easily Remove Installed System Apps?

Aug 25, 2010

I was frantically trying to remove a system installed app yesterday, but google wasnt much help. I found many threads on various forums, all slightly different and all assuming you have a certain level of knowledge about certain things. There was no easy, step by step guide. So I decided to post my guide up here for anyone who like me, wants to uninstall system apps but hasn't the foggiest. This is for if you have the ROM already installed and don't want to do a wipe/re-install. for ROMs you are about to install, just open the zip, browse to systemapp and delete the .apk prior to installation.Enjoy your bloatware free ROM. It goes without saying that you shouldn't remove anything you don't recognise and that if you do, you risk doing harm to your phone. I can take no responsibility for damage caused.

Motorola Droid X :: Playlists Of Songs In Folder Easily Created Using Free Music Player

Sep 29, 2010

Unless I am entirely missing something (which is certainly possible), I can't seem to easily create a playlist based on all music in a *folder* using the stock music player. I have to select each song one-by-one out of a list of all my songs on the phone, which is tedious and time-consuming. If I'm missing it, please let me know. In the meantime, I downloaded a very basic player called "Player." It does allow you to create playlists based on all music in a folder.

When you navigate to a music folder and select some or all of the music in the folder to play, "Player" creates a temporary playlist with all of the music selected. NOTE: A message pops up saying ONE song has been added to the playlist, but this is incorrect (unless you've only selected one to play). If you've chosen multiple or all of the songs in the folder to play, it actually creates the playlist with all the selected songs in it. Since the playlist created is a temporary playlist, so you must go into the "playlist" area to rename it to what you want. If you don't, then the next time you select a folder to play music from, it will likely overwrite the first temporary playlist with the new one.

It's actually very, very easy (much easier than scrolling through to select each song). The playlists created by "Player" automatically show up in the stock music player as well and can be played there. One negative to "Player" is that it appears to display the wrong album art. If that's a big deal, then simply revert to the stock player and run your playlists from there. I realize there are other music apps in the markets, so this wouldn't apply if you prefer one of those, obviously.
