HTC Droid Eris :: How To Switch Back And Forth In Call Waiting?
Jun 17, 2010This is a stupid question, but I never had it right on any phone. I can figure out complex things, but When I answer a call waiting, how do I switch back and forth between the original conversation? Do I press send? Is there any way to conference other than Google Voice?

Android :: Back Button Doesn't Go To Previous Activity
Jul 4, 2010I have two activities. The first is a list where the user selects one of the items which takes them to a second activity showing the details of the item they selected. When the user clicks the back button I want the app to return to the first activity.
Is there anything special i need to do to make this happen?
Right now when I click the back button from the second activity it exits the app just like the home button would.
Here is how I am starting the Second Activity. startActivity(new Intent(getApplication(), SecondActivity.class)); finish();

Nov 2, 2013i've just returned to Android after about a year and a half and I never remember having this "issue" with my old galaxy s2x. But i am finding that whenever i am scrolling down a list, facebook, instagram, or even a webpage, and i hit the back button, it always starts me from the very TOP of the page again. I am used to just hitting back and having it remember my position halfway down or wherever i was. is this just an android thing?!

Android :: Don't Need Previous Activities Load On Pressing Back Button On First Activity
Jul 15, 2010When i leave my app after pressing home button and then re launch it from menus it behaves in a strange way.Sometimes it launches the same activity on which i pressed home button.But sometimes it launches the first activity of my app. One reason for this could be that whenever system has memory shortage it clears any activities existing in But the strange thing is if i press back button from first activity it takes me back to the same activity on which i pressed home button and all other previous activities are also there(like if i press back button again previous activities also exist.)I haven't set any launching mode for any activity in my app(like single instance etc).What i don't need is that previous activities load on pressing back button on first activity.

Feb 5, 2012I recently upgraded my htc desire s to the official 3.5 sense version and them to the endymion rom and both have something quite annoying in all browsers I have tried (dolphin, stock and boat browsers).
What happens is pressing back sends me to the top of a web page, meaning I have to press back twice to get to the previous page. It's not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.
HTC Droid : Having To Switch From My Eris - Can't Afford It
Jul 29, 2010It's too bad, really. I love the phone. I just can't afford it the data plan anymore. So, tomorrow or Saturday, I am switching to the Samsung Reality. From what I heard, it's a good phone, and it has quite a few features I have come to love on the Eris.
Hopefully, when I get a job during the school year, I will be able to afford the data again. I plan on keeping my Eris and going back to it when I have a bit more money.
I just wanted to say, until I return, thanks for all your help with this phone and the tips to make it not suck. I'll probably lurk on here and post maybe once every so often. This really is one of the best communities I have found on the Interwebz.

Dec 24, 2009I just picked up the Droid Eris and am having serious reception issues when at work, which is here I am most of the time. I upgraded from an LG Chocolate, and did miss or have a dropped call for 2 years. After getting the Droid Eris I missed 3 calls the first day with the phone in my office. I receive adequate 1x coverage, but only spotty 3g coverage. My co-workers all have iPhones and have the same issue, but they have the ability to manually turn off the 3g, which then allows them to send and receive calls and texts without any problems using the at&T 1x network. Is there a way (or an app) that allows a user to turn off the 3g and only receive 1x coverage for the Droid Eris? I don't think turning off the mobilenetwork accomplishes this goal, but would like to know for sure.

Apr 14, 2014I have the tronsmart CX-919 mini pc running 4.2 and there is an issue with the browser reverting back to the home page or the previous page. When I try to display a webpage on our intranet it reverts back to the homepage or previous page after about 3 hours. I need it to display constantly. I read somewhere that it was a Download Manager issue and disabling it would work but I can't find where to disable it. Also it was stated that Flash was an issue but i tried uninstalling it and it just reinstalled itself and the problem kept occurring. I just want to display a page in a browser and for it to stay on the screen (full screen) until I manually navigate away from it. I plan to leave it on for weeks at a time.

Jan 6, 2010First, I've read all the "I switched from Eris to Droid" posts. Found them to be informative, most a bit dated.
Second, I've had my Eris since the first day it came out. I went to the store expecting to buy a Droid on the first day it came out. It happened to be right when I needed a new phone, I didn't have an existing phone or plan, so I was free do to what I wanted. Didn't know anything about an Eris. Went to the store and was unimpressed by the Droid's keyboard. Plus it felt blocky and I didn't like that the sliding keyboard felt like it was going to slide out all the time. Picked up the Eris and between the size, the form factor, and Sense UI's 7 screens and widgets I decided that the $100 savings was money well pocketed. It didn't take me long to start getting annoyed with it though. The battery life, the lag and other issues mounted. Then Sense kept re-booting, as did the phone. So I went back to the store inside my 30 days. I got a new one and an "extension" on my return ability.
The second phone was great...for a while. Lag returned, in a big way. In the meantime, the Droid got 2.0.1 and is getting 2.1 soon. The Eris should have 2.1 by the end of the month, but I'm not convinced it will solve my issues. I was in the mall again today and spent another 15 minutes or so with the Droid. The screen has always impressed me, but the speed just blows me away. I hate the fact that it takes Handcent 10 seconds to load, the fact that the landscape keyboard is slow in loading, then laggy. That the menus, etc. are just slow. Slow, slow, slow, and did I mention, slow? I've tweaked this phone 9 ways from Sunday, have tried all manner of task killers, task panel, startup manager, etc. I've cleared cache, re-booted, etc. This phone, in current form, lags. Now 2.1 is coming with Sense, and that may help. But the Droid's screen....oh, that screen.So here are my questions:
1) I hated the keyboard, and after using the phone for about an hour and a half in total, still don't like it. I know you don't have to use it, are there those that liked it better with time?
2) Does the sliding keyboard "loosen up" with time ? It didn't feel impressively locked closed to begin with, I don't want to feel like it's going to fall open in my hand.
3) How's the battery life? With my Eris, I can get a full day of GOOD usage without having to re-charge. The Droid?
4) I've heard issues with phone sound quality. Are those common, or isolated?
5) How's the screen in sunlight?

I am often developing, and using emulator and device in tandem, mainly because I can trace the http comms on the emulator and not on the device, and logcat gets stuck on whichever is launched first from eclipse. Right now the only way to get logcat output switched over is to restart eclipse, which is a little time-consuming. Anyone know another way to achieve the same thing?
