I am getting things back to my comfort zone...but, I lost my "network" toggle switch! I've noticed there are several "switches" in the market, but none for the network and free. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just upgraded to 2.1 OTA. When I had 1.5, I had a nice toggle for GPS, WiFi, and Mobile Network. Since the upgrade, I've found a nice toggle for the GPS & Wi-fi, but nothing for Mobile Network toggle?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.
I didn't back them up on google, But I while back I backed them up though an app on my LG dare on the verizon server, how do I get them back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Captivate with a 200 MB data plan. I want to have an easy toggle switch to disable any data transfer that counts toward that 200 MB. So far I've only done mild browsing/email and navigation off wireless, yet I've already used 67 Mb in 4-5 days. Anybody else having similar experiences?
I've tried the APNDroid widget set to "Red", but when I disable Wifi, the 3G icon pops right up in the notification bar and 3G seems to work normally. I've also tried the JuiceDefender "Toggle Mobile Data" and tapped it to make it yellow "ON", and again the 3G pops up when I disable WiFi. Anybody having any luck disabling 3G? Also, it would be nice to still get push gmail, which seems like it wouldn't using much data.
I have a CDMA Android phone, the Droid Incredible on Verizon. I have a pretty good background with electronics, hardware and software. Can anyone please tell me why all the apps in the app market state they are unable to toggle network connectivity off and on on a CDMA device? My device runs HTC SenseUI. There is a toggle widget that allows the mobile network to be turned on and off. There is a settings section that allows it to be done. Why don't applications have access to this functionality?Someone PLEASE be technical and detailed. This is a frustrating limitation that I just don't understand.

If the strength of the network is low(value custumable or not), desactive 3g to save battery and when it high or middle , active 3g.
My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I've had it for over 5 months now, I've always had it activated on alltel, I installed the 2.1v3 leak before the official OTA was out and just lately it seems like there something very wrong with my battery life...
If I unplug my phone at 9AM within the past week and occasionaly check and respond to a text message, my battery had been down to almost 30% by NOON... what?..
I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

I have the recently released 2.1 update. Could someone point me in the right direction for rooting my phone as well as how to unlock the ability to connect to an ad hoc network? I know Its possible with rooted phones.

2. I had a widget to toggle me mobile network on the phone I just exchanged. I can't find out how get it back. I tried going to widgets-settings-etc., but it wasn't there. I don't remember if I got it from the market or what.
So I disabled Sense on my 2.1 and does anyone know of a good application or widget that can toggle 3G, WiFi, and GPS. I tried power control but it didn't work with my 3G.

I saw one screen shot in this forum of a very clean, minimalistic bar where green = on, red = off (or something like that) for each setting, but I can't remember which post had that screen shot. I've searched and searched. Anyone remember seeing this? Or what search term should I use in the market to find this sort of widget with multiple settings on it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was searching online to see how to make a shortcut to toggle the 3G connection on and off without having to sift through multiple menus. I came across the method of having a long press on the power lock button to pull up the menu but mine does not show the network data on/off option and never has. It only shows
* Silent mode
* Airplane mode
* Power off
* Restart
Nothing else. Is there a way I can make a shortcut or some other way to ADD the network data on/off on this pull up menu from the power lock button? By the way why would my phone not have this option from the start when the phone came with Gingerbread and was updated to ICS 4.0.4? I have Sprint so they call this the Epic 4G Touch, so not sure if it was Sprint that buggered this from the other SGS2s that have this feature or not.
So now that we have the 2.2 update and overclocking is not working what would need to be done to get things running again?

I dont use any google syncing
Luckily i had a backup app on there so was able to restore them all but dont know why this happened
I don't know why but I have everything there after update to froyo but nothing that needs root will work. Su is there but root explorer or WiFi will not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the forums and changing settings and doing a few battery cycles, I had been getting really good battery life of at least two days on medium usage and 3 days on light with my connection not having any real issues. Then, 2 days ago I installed weatherbug and beautiful widgets. While I enjoy both, it seems like my network connection goes down fairly often now and I need to turn on wifi to check email or do anything else web related. Has anyone else lost their network connection and been able to narrow down the cause? I'm hoping it's not one of these two, but I can't imagine what else it would be.

It's too bad, really. I love the phone. I just can't afford it the data plan anymore. So, tomorrow or Saturday, I am switching to the Samsung Reality. From what I heard, it's a good phone, and it has quite a few features I have come to love on the Eris.
Hopefully, when I get a job during the school year, I will be able to afford the data again. I plan on keeping my Eris and going back to it when I have a bit more money.
I just wanted to say, until I return, thanks for all your help with this phone and the tips to make it not suck. I'll probably lurk on here and post maybe once every so often. This really is one of the best communities I have found on the Interwebz.
It looks about 99% certain that my Eris is gone. I'm still holding out a little hope that I'll find it around the house. I thought I was carrying it and the charger in my hand along with my work jacket yesterday morning. When I got to work, I couldn't find either in the car so I thought that maybe I forget to pick it up. Got home and couldn't find it or the charger. When I pulled the car out of my yard's parking spot (it's on grass) later in the day, I saw the charger laying there. However, I didn't see the phone. Since it would be weird for someone to have taken the phone but not the charger laying right next to it, I'm holding out a 1% chance that it's still around the house. However, I haven't been able to find it at all.Anyway, I've put it on suspension right now (the in-store rep says that I can bring any phone back on line to replace it if I get a different phone through eBay or other source). So at least I've got any opportunist locked out of the phone.Here's my question - I don't have the funds to pay $150 - 200 for a "new" Eris on eBay. So, if you were me, what would you consider to be the best cheap smartphone alternative that I can pick up for less than $100 on the open market? (preferably more like $50 <g>). I'd just get a cellphone to tide me over but since I'm having to pay for the data plan, I might as well get something with a browser.Any suggestions? Anyone have something lying around that they aren't using? Yeah, yeah, I know.

Some have resynced from Facebook and Gmail, but a great deal of them are still missing including numbers I didnt have synced to FB or Gmail. The numbers are still associated with text messages in messaging app and Handcent, but all contact info has been lost on most of them. Is there any way to get my lost contacts back or are they gone forever?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I had I think a free version or something of Visual voicemail before on myBB. Of course thatjust transferred over to my Eris when I got it last Dec. But, that voicemail service would alway send texts when I recieved a new VM and it got annoying so I turned off the notifications. When I did, I just stored the voicemails # to dial in my contacts. Unfortunately I must have done it as a phone contact rather than google because when I reset my phone the number was gone. therefore I have no way of checking my voicemail... any ideas?

I've lost Multi Touch Zoom on the Dolphin Browser Since the 2.1 update.
The native browser will not multi touch zoom either (I thought this was supposed to be included in the update).
Any ideas? I can't find a setting to turn it on.
Just got my Eris last night and am trying to figure it out. I was using a BB curve so this is different. I am following all battery tips but have a different question. When I am on a call if someone beeps in it is automatically switching me over to this new call. How do I stop that?
