my school e-mail is a gmail account and some features do not work like a regular gmail. Is there anyway to switch my phone over to make my new personal gmail my primary one for the phone to make things easier?

for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedYahoo Mail. Looks pretty but wont download attachments and has no way to log out so there's no way to secure the account. Worst of all it screwed up the on-off switch and incoming calls wouldn't turn the phone on.(how I don't know) and required a hard reset to fix.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got HTC Desire on eBay. Seems new as advertised and certainly all cables charger etc. in original packaging. The manual; says that when I switch on for the first time quote 'the phone displays tutorials and guides you to set up your email accounts and favorite social networks such as Facebook�, YouTube�, and Twitter�. You can follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setup, or skip the setup and do it at another time. This didn't happen when I switched on. Will it happen if I do a factory reset?
View 2 Replies View RelatedVery strange, phone has been working fine. Battery was fully charged this morning after it's overnight charge and phone was working. I went to work and took the phone out during my mid-morning break and it's dead. Attached it to the charger that I keep at work and still nothing after a few minutes. I took the battery and the sim card out. Battery voltage is 4VDC which is fine. Reinstalled the battery and tried turning on the phone with and without the sim card,, nothing from the phone, not every the status LED. Is there a hidden reset switch somewhere or is it pouched? The phone is only 2 months old so I'm sure my carrier will replace it if it comes to that, at which point I'll have to decide whether or not to replace it with another Xperia and or go black or white. Mine is black, but I really like the looks of the phone in white. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI overclocked my eris from a 2.0 to a 2.2 and ever since then ive been having some really bad lag on my phone... such as texting is really really slow, opening programs, and loading the camera pictures. Can anyone tell me if i were to master reset my phone if my phone would not be overclocked anymore and just be to its original 2.0?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's too bad, really. I love the phone. I just can't afford it the data plan anymore. So, tomorrow or Saturday, I am switching to the Samsung Reality. From what I heard, it's a good phone, and it has quite a few features I have come to love on the Eris.
Hopefully, when I get a job during the school year, I will be able to afford the data again. I plan on keeping my Eris and going back to it when I have a bit more money.
I just wanted to say, until I return, thanks for all your help with this phone and the tips to make it not suck. I'll probably lurk on here and post maybe once every so often. This really is one of the best communities I have found on the Interwebz.
I want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just picked up the Droid Eris and am having serious reception issues when at work, which is here I am most of the time. I upgraded from an LG Chocolate, and did miss or have a dropped call for 2 years. After getting the Droid Eris I missed 3 calls the first day with the phone in my office. I receive adequate 1x coverage, but only spotty 3g coverage. My co-workers all have iPhones and have the same issue, but they have the ability to manually turn off the 3g, which then allows them to send and receive calls and texts without any problems using the at&T 1x network. Is there a way (or an app) that allows a user to turn off the 3g and only receive 1x coverage for the Droid Eris? I don't think turning off the mobilenetwork accomplishes this goal, but would like to know for sure.

View 4 Replies View RelatedFirst, I've read all the "I switched from Eris to Droid" posts. Found them to be informative, most a bit dated.
Second, I've had my Eris since the first day it came out. I went to the store expecting to buy a Droid on the first day it came out. It happened to be right when I needed a new phone, I didn't have an existing phone or plan, so I was free do to what I wanted. Didn't know anything about an Eris. Went to the store and was unimpressed by the Droid's keyboard. Plus it felt blocky and I didn't like that the sliding keyboard felt like it was going to slide out all the time. Picked up the Eris and between the size, the form factor, and Sense UI's 7 screens and widgets I decided that the $100 savings was money well pocketed. It didn't take me long to start getting annoyed with it though. The battery life, the lag and other issues mounted. Then Sense kept re-booting, as did the phone. So I went back to the store inside my 30 days. I got a new one and an "extension" on my return ability.
The second phone was great...for a while. Lag returned, in a big way. In the meantime, the Droid got 2.0.1 and is getting 2.1 soon. The Eris should have 2.1 by the end of the month, but I'm not convinced it will solve my issues. I was in the mall again today and spent another 15 minutes or so with the Droid. The screen has always impressed me, but the speed just blows me away. I hate the fact that it takes Handcent 10 seconds to load, the fact that the landscape keyboard is slow in loading, then laggy. That the menus, etc. are just slow. Slow, slow, slow, and did I mention, slow? I've tweaked this phone 9 ways from Sunday, have tried all manner of task killers, task panel, startup manager, etc. I've cleared cache, re-booted, etc. This phone, in current form, lags. Now 2.1 is coming with Sense, and that may help. But the Droid's screen....oh, that screen.So here are my questions:
1) I hated the keyboard, and after using the phone for about an hour and a half in total, still don't like it. I know you don't have to use it, are there those that liked it better with time?
2) Does the sliding keyboard "loosen up" with time ? It didn't feel impressively locked closed to begin with, I don't want to feel like it's going to fall open in my hand.
3) How's the battery life? With my Eris, I can get a full day of GOOD usage without having to re-charge. The Droid?
4) I've heard issues with phone sound quality. Are those common, or isolated?
5) How's the screen in sunlight?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI backed up my info and did a factory reset, because I believe it's probably a good idea. Now for some reason, it will not sync right with facebook. None of my contacts pictures are showing. Also, when I go into 'people', and go to the option that allows you to pick who you want to show, (google, facebook, phone, etc...) it shows my facebook contacts as being 0. Anyone know how to get it to sync back properly? I went straight to the sync accounts setting and synced facebook, google, and the weather right from the beginning. But no luck.

Because of this I decided to do a factory reset at the suggestion of some users with the same problem and now that I have done one I no longer have service. I was able to download stuff from the marketplace, but no calls or texts. Whenever I make a phone call it says "welcome to verizon wireless, your service has been temporarily disconnected, please call your customer service representative." I have done *228 to reprogram and activate, I have done it to update roaming, and I pushed 3 and activated the phone again but said it was already active.
