I manually installed android 2.1 but i am unhappy with the speed that is presented when i manually installed it and when my friend got the OTA update. i want to be able to switch back to 2.0.1 briefly and get the official OTA update. how can i do this?

If i factory reset from the recovery screen, what will i lose? And will i have to re-activate? Im wondering because i like doing the setup and also i have a bunch of stuff im to lazy to delete and would like a clean start. And also, i just upgraded to new froyo leak, how do i go back to 2.1 for the official OTA?
View 4 Replies View RelatedFinally couldn't take it any longer and installed the RUU then hours later I hear that the Official update.zip is slightly different with a change to gmail (and frankly, at this point, who knows what else.) Also I am seeing "make sure you have the correct "baseband"(?) So for me and I would imagine a few others. Can someone make this a nice clean and complete how to get from RUU to update.zip thread? I have seen a lot of bits and pieces of what it takes.

It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

I have no idea what the update was really supposed to do in terms of performance but it's been a zero sum game. I don't give a flaming politician about live wallpaper or exploding gallery icons.
I like Panda's pull-outs that go across all desktops and the alphabetical pull-up. The stock phone is really lacking in terms of app organization. Photo organization too.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI don't want to beat a dead horse, but I have searched around and i have not found a good explanation as to why those with the 2.1v3 leak cannot manually install the official OTA file that was posted here.
Anyone have an explanation for this? I read that it has something to do with a different HBOOT, but I'm not really understanding it. Do you think we will every be able to get the OTA so that we can go root? I quickly jumped to the 2.1v3 leak without fully understanding the benefits of root and now, after more research, I really want to go root.
After the official 2.1 update, my service has been getting slowly worse. The is a tower a half a mile down the road from me, and at random times the Eris will say I have no service. But I know it's not just the tower because I still don't get service randomly at places it's usually fine.
