How do I switch the phone over to my new Google account so I can delete the old one? I want to keep the same email notifications with the new account as well.

Jan 18, 2010I am all of the sudden having a problem with the Droid Eris.I keep getting a pop up Google sign in on the screen.the username shown on the screen has gmail address(part of it is my address but at the end of my address there are 2 extra numbers added to it (i do not have numbers in my address (do not know how it got there) there is no way to change the address on the pop up, but i try to put in my password that I have and it does not work.I can access gmail from a computer with my correct gmail address and PW.Is there any way to get in contact with Google (haha) and Verizon says it is Googles problem.I want to try to get back my correct gmail addy on the Eris, if anyone can help ? All I can do is talk and receive text and go on web, If I try to go onto Menu, Market it asks me the PW.

Nov 4, 2010I bought a Samsung Galaxy S a few days back and was able to sign into the Android market via my gmail account. I even managed to download the BarCode scanner application.That's where the problems begun. Since auto-sync was on, all my gmail contacts were synced with my phone contacts. Now since I did not want to see my gmail contacts every time I try and make a call, I performed a factory reset on the phone (since there was no other way to get rid of all the gmail contacts at once). I then turned sync off and tried to sign in to my Google account, but it refused to do so. I get a message saying: "Unable to establish a reliable connection with server. This may be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please contact customer care if the problem persists." I even tried connecting with sync on just for the heck of it but it still did not work.The Samsung Customer Care service in India is truly pathetic. They said that: "We do not provide support for such technical problem" Wtf? They then proceeded to give a regional center number, which when I called.

I can sign in OK from my windows-based PC and netbook - but from Android, the email/password are not recognised.
To get going I created a gmail account which enables me to sign in to my new android device: but obviously that doesn't give me access to all my google-related "stuff" that is in my xyz@myisp.com google account.
HTC Droid Eris :: Google Sign In Error Fixed
Mar 10, 2010Did wife's Eris to 2.1 tonite. She was on PRL 51807, prior to 2.1 after 2.1 and *228 option 1 and 2 she was back down to the 51776 that I am currently on. Prior to the *228 she didn't have the sign in error, tested with reboot and also airplane only mode. LOL seems to be the error. Don't know how to get it back up to the 51807.

Feb 12, 2010Ive been reading this forum for several months, and bought my Eris last month (previous Blackberry Storm owner). With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.

With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.
