I was wondering if there is a way to reset this because I have entered some words incorrectly and wanted to get rid of them. Hope someone can help because the other ones I've seen open for this has had no reply.

In messages (HTC Desire), when I type 'if', it automatically suggests 'of'. I don't want to turn off the word predictions because generally I find them very useful but I have no idea why it keeps wanting to change 'if' to 'of'; obviously with 'if' being such a common word, it's a real hassle to keep changing it. I wonder if when I got the phone I typed 'if' and meant 'of', so changed it, but now I can't see how to get it back. Does anyone have any ideas how I can reset the prediction?

When I try to enter a URL like "www.youtube.com" into the search/go form, the prediction will pop up and stop at "www." or sometimes "www.y" with no option for me to use the URL that I typed. So if I hit the Go button, I end up Google searching "www." since "www." isn't a valid URL.
View 7 Replies View Relatedwhat exactly does the Spell Correction feature do? I realized today that I had it disabled all this time. I tried typing with Spell Correction enabled but haven't noticed any difference. The user manual explains the settings like this:
Prediction Select to enable the word prediction feature which provides a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters of nearby keys.
Spell correction Select to correct typographical errors by selecting from a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters
of nearby keys. ...but the keyboard seems to me to function exactly the same with or without spell correction enabled.
Is there a way to access the list of all the words that were added to the keyboard's prediction in the phone? I have accidently added many words that I spelled incorrectly and need to remove them. How do I do this?

My ERIS adds words (usually misspelled) to the dictionary every so often and I need to get in there and clean things up.I type a lot faster than the keyboard can accept keystrokes, so sometimes I notice a misspelled word back about 3-4 lines that I never typed and didn't intend to have in my sentence. It's frustrating but I'm sure there's a fix to it.Thanks to everyone who is providing such helpful information. I'm impressed with the knowledge that is shared and how willing everyone is to help each other out on this forum.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my x10 today to 2.1. I used the backup&restore to restore everything (contacts, settings etc) 1. My android keyboard dictionary only contains the new words the dictionary learned therefore corrects everything to people and place names. So my android keyboard is now useless if I want to use auto correction. Can you please come please provide instructions to how to reset the Android keyboard dictionary? 2. When I restored my contacts back, only some of my contacts were restored. I believe that only some of my contacts were backed up initially and I believe that the contacts that didn't get backed up are the ones I initially imported using SE Sync from my old phone. Why is this happening? SE sync is an unreliable service that is in Beta phase. After I started using it to back up my contacts, it created duplicates and I had to stop using it. Can you confirm whether I'm right in my assumptions? Why only some of my contacts were backed up and not all? Does the backup & restore of the 2.1 behave the same way?
View 19 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how Swype updates its dictionary? I know it pulls words from my contacts list, but does it get them from any other source? There are certain words that constantly show up in Swype, even though I have deleted them countless times. "i'd" is a big one. I would never type the word "I" and leave it uncapitalized, and, yet, it somehow keeps reappearing in the dictionary. Certain letter combinations like "nt," "ou," and others continue to show up, even after I've deleted them. That's what has me thinking it's pulling words from something else on the phone. Is there any way to make it stop doing that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've looked for other threads about editing Swype's dictionary but have found none, so will ask here: I love using Swype Lite (1.16.12.5228) but have found the dictionary and the little word options popup to be less than helpful. I've tried to add words individually per the instructions saying to add each letter carefully then press the space bar, but the new word doesn't seem to be available the next time. And when I do try to enter 1 letter at a time it automatically adds another letter and spaces to each of the letters I'm trying to tap in. I would love to know if I can access Swype's dictionary through the SD card or wherever, and go in there and edit the shit out of it. Anybody know how, or if it's possible?

Does anyone know how I can edit that list? It has accidentally saved a couple "words" that aren't really words and I wanted to clear it out.

I know that I can press that down arrow and add a word but how can I delete some of the words that are already there. I am just wondering if the auto-suggest dictionary is user-modifiable. I use compact QWERTY (like SureType on BB). When I type "we", what comes out is "qe" which is the default word it wants to use. Perhaps I used it once and saved it? How can I delete the words I don't want popping up anymore (especially the ones I may have added)?
I overclocked my eris from a 2.0 to a 2.2 and ever since then ive been having some really bad lag on my phone... such as texting is really really slow, opening programs, and loading the camera pictures. Can anyone tell me if i were to master reset my phone if my phone would not be overclocked anymore and just be to its original 2.0?

I understand it will remove my applications, but will remove other applications that were installed as part of HTC and verizon? Such as HTC sense, etc? View 4 Replies View RelatedI backed up my info and did a factory reset, because I believe it's probably a good idea. Now for some reason, it will not sync right with facebook. None of my contacts pictures are showing. Also, when I go into 'people', and go to the option that allows you to pick who you want to show, (google, facebook, phone, etc...) it shows my facebook contacts as being 0. Anyone know how to get it to sync back properly? I went straight to the sync accounts setting and synced facebook, google, and the weather right from the beginning. But no luck.

Because of this I decided to do a factory reset at the suggestion of some users with the same problem and now that I have done one I no longer have service. I was able to download stuff from the marketplace, but no calls or texts. Whenever I make a phone call it says "welcome to verizon wireless, your service has been temporarily disconnected, please call your customer service representative." I have done *228 to reprogram and activate, I have done it to update roaming, and I pushed 3 and activated the phone again but said it was already active.

Today, I was showing it to some people then put it my pocket (might not have locked it first). Next thing I know, it starts to beep and I look at it and it's back to the HTC start screen and loads up and asks me to go through the same initial steps I had gone through to activate the phone. I did all this and then it started up and all my apps and customization were gone. I assume they're lost now but does anybody know how that happened so I can avoid that happening again?
