View 5 RepliesI have installed root and all was good, but i put my default gmail as the one that did not have my purchased apps so i need to factory reset. If i factory reset will my root stay or do i need to re-root?
View 1 Replies View Relatedsome people are saying that a factory reset can help with the lagging after the 2.2 update.. is it ok to do the factory reset with my phone being rooted??? is there any steps i should take before i do the reset?? i get that i should prolly back up the phone settings and what not which i will also have to figure out.. but lets just start with the first question... will factory resetting my phone that is rooted screw anything up?
View -1 Replies View RelatedJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere's a lot of instructions floating around for unrooting the droid and what makes the most sense to me is to let the phone handle factory reset thereby bringing the phone back to its original out of the box configuration. By reset I'm referring to booting with power+x vol up+camerra and choosing factory reset from the list. Can someone who's done the reset on a rooted phone confirm that SU permissions are gone after? Also, does the reset delete all apps, system settings and user data and bring the phone back to a true factory state (including going back to OS 2.0)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a replacement DX due to random reboots.I read around on the forums that a factory reset would remove any custom themes as well as remove any signs of root.I was unable to achieve either with a factory reset and had to manually install the stock theme files, unroot, and then factory reset. Is this normal? Or was my factory reset not working properly? Is there a way to get back to "out of the box" without having to manually reinstall a stock theme and unroot?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having weird issues with my phone (browser crashing, wifi not automatically connecting, etc). I'm wanting to try a factory reset but not sure exactly what it will do. I understand it will remove my applications, but will remove other applications that were installed as part of HTC and verizon? Such as HTC sense, etc? Will I need to call up verizon and get them to reconfigure my phone after a reset?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan anybody tell me how to do a factory reset on my Eris after installation of the 2.1 OTA update?
View 27 Replies View RelatedI backed up my info and did a factory reset, because I believe it's probably a good idea. Now for some reason, it will not sync right with facebook. None of my contacts pictures are showing. Also, when I go into 'people', and go to the option that allows you to pick who you want to show, (google, facebook, phone, etc...) it shows my facebook contacts as being 0. Anyone know how to get it to sync back properly? I went straight to the sync accounts setting and synced facebook, google, and the weather right from the beginning. But no luck.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo, I was one of the people with an Eris that was not receiving MMS messages anymore. Because of this I decided to do a factory reset at the suggestion of some users with the same problem and now that I have done one I no longer have service. I was able to download stuff from the marketplace, but no calls or texts. Whenever I make a phone call it says "welcome to verizon wireless, your service has been temporarily disconnected, please call your customer service representative." I have done *228 to reprogram and activate, I have done it to update roaming, and I pushed 3 and activated the phone again but said it was already active.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI just did the factory reset and now cannot send, and probably receive, sms messages. I get a SMS Error: General Problems. Cause Code 34 Error Class 2. I did a second factory reset in hopes that the error would go away but it's still happening. Does anyone know what I should do?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided to factory reset my phone.I did the power off, hold volume down and power up at the same time. I got a menu from that and selected "clearstorage".It went to a screen with a pic of my phone and a red triangle with an exclamation point through it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI backed up my apps in anticipation of a factory reset and nothing since then. so since i switched back to sense yesterday, i have noticed that when off the homescreen for too long, like while browsing the internet, when i return to the homescreen, sense reboots itself. black HTC screen comes up and sense gets a reboot. i figure maybe this is because the OS is used to switching sense to the background because i was running helix for so long.
View 33 Replies View RelatedIf I already rooted to one of the 2.1 leaks will I have to do a factory reset to upgrade to the official? If so would I have to talk to Verizon to get my phone set up again? (IE: Service?) Sorry, I'm kind of knew to this .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI did this factory re-set last night to try and take care of some pretty bad keyboard lag in the browser and a few other sniggly problems which seem better. BUT now I have a pretty major issue I have never encountered before. When I plugged into a USB on my macbook last night to charge only, the indicator showed it was charging. When I woke up this morning, it said it was still charging and only showed about 75% full. Huh? I thought. That makes no sense. Now I am in a conference, typing and tweeting away on my MB, with my Eris plugged into it and it shows the lighting bolt in the battery but doesn't show the green bar animation in that battery. Instead, it shows just above the level where it would get yellow. The red charging LED is on too.
Then, after about 1.5 hours of this, the screen goes dead. I hold the power button and the phone reboots (so it had been off). Once it goes through the process, I get the message to connect my charger. Not a warning of 10 or 15% battery. Just connect now and a big empty red battery on the screen. I plug it back in and back to a lighting bolt in the battery but no moving green bar, a red LED above that and the trackball flashing white. In other words, now that I've done a factory re-set, I am getting no charge when plugged into my computer. Haven't tried plugging into the wall yet. I will tonight when I get back to my room, but this is not good. Considering the crappy battery life normally, I plug my Eris into my computer when at work in order to keep it full charged all day. It's also shutting off while plugged into my computer! Since first posting at 10:30 AM today, It is now saying it is charging and showing the battery filling animation, but it's been "charging" since then and has not completed. Battery level is about 25% the moment I unplug it (Settings->Battery) and up time and awake time are identical.
So I did the factory reset and reinstalled all my applications. Everything working fine so far. Previous glitches have not resurfaced. However, now Beautiful widget/HTC clock-weather is acting up. It keeps saying my GPS location is Vilnius. I'm no where near Lithuania. I've updated the progamming &roaming twice and toggled geo location multiple times.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
Just did a factory reset to solve my Gmail and contact syncing issues, and now that the phone is all started up again, I keep getting a voice while doing the *228 option 1 that says "we are unable to program your phone at this time". Anyone have any ideas?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I installed the Evil Eris v3 thingamajig using the Rooting for dummies thread. But I wanna go back, so will a factory reset take care of that for me?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my inc. Great work and seemed easy with all the guides! My only question is i want to perform a factory reset, how do I get the superuser.apk back and/or will I lose root?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've read everything on this forum to try to root. In what state are your phones when gaining root? Are they fresh installs or two months of crap loaded up? I have not seen this mentioned anywhere. I don't want to reset my phone if its not necessary. Also the SD card, can it have anything on it prior to root, or does it have to be formatted(blank)? I'm close to giving up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a Droid Incredible, rooted, no custom ROMs installed. I sold the phone. Before I did, I did a factory reset, to remove my data from the phone but maintain root status for the new user. The guy who bought the phone from me is having trouble accessing the mobile network now. We had a devil of a time just activating the phone on his number. Verizon helped us manually activate it eventually. Anyway, any ideas what might be causing the problem? I've sent him directions for unrooting the phone to see if that fixes it. Any other suggestions or ideas why it might have happened?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did a factory reset because i thought it would fix a number of problems i had before and after the 2.1 OTA.
1. HTC's weather app wouldn't update on it's own or manually (sometimes) (not a force close issue)
2. Mobile network issue. Places where i would get 3-4 bars got 1-2 (sometimes 3) and the "D" under 3G mostly changes to the up down arrow. This was on 1.5 and might have to wait maybe another day to see if this continue on 2.1.
3. apps is my main issue. I know all the apps are in the download section on the market and i saved my apps in the SD card but when I reinstalled, scores and profiles from different apps and not there. Is there a way to restore the apps to where there they where before the factory reset instead of the apps acting like it's been just downloaded.
I've been using swype on 1.5 and then again on 2.1 OTA. I've always updated to the newest version and I recently did a factory data reset on my eris because I couldn't get messaging threads to delete. After factory reset, I downloaded swype from beta.swype.com on the eris and installed the latest version. For some reason when I use swype the blue guide line is a lot slower than it used to be to catch up to where i swipe my finger. It also has trouble when I circle on a letter to indicate that I want to use that letter twice in a word. That never works now. I tried going into the keyboard calibration settings and resetting the calibration to factory settings. I looked in the swype settings as well. I haven't made any changes them so I'm wonder why the line tracing and understanding what I'm swiping is not even close to as responsive as before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just did a factory reset because I have tried out bunches of programs and just wanted to start fresh, I did it all the time on all my old phones(palm and winmo) with no problem. It turns out that when you do a reset, not only do you loose all your programs but the phone has to be registered to your account. I got it back up in running, wifi works and so does making phone calls, all my contacts and e-mails are synced and I thought everything was good. I went to the market and it even shows me all the apps I had installed previously, however when I tell it to install something, it just stays stuck on the "starting download.." message...........
View 9 Replies View RelatedI received the latest update a couple of days ago. I am like many on the forum that was having issues and growing very tired of this phone.
Issues I was having:
1- Blank display during a call. I have been having the issue of the phone display going blank during a call. The way it's designed to work is that when you place the phone next to your ear the display turns off to 1- save battery and 2- reduce heat. Mine was staying off which made it impossible to traverse a voice response system.
2- Lag during dialing.
3- Time without a signal. ** Retracted - This issue still exists. After rebooting multiple times the issue is back.
Fix - Reset to factory defaults. So far so good. Best the phone has been since updating from 1.5.
