Mar 1, 2010Just did a factory reset to solve my Gmail and contact syncing issues, and now that the phone is all started up again, I keep getting a voice while doing the *228 option 1 that says "we are unable to program your phone at this time". Anyone have any ideas?

Feb 10, 2010My phone "eris" was in my back pocket for about an hour as I was Food shopping. When I took it out It would not come out of Lock screen / sleep state. The Only thing that brought it back to life was taking the battery out and replacing it several times. I did not Sit on the phone or bump it in anyway that might have caused this. Also, when I put it in my pocket, the screen was already locked. This has happened about 4 times in the last week and the phone is just past the 30 day window for a return. On a side note, I recently installed Beautiful Widgets Version 2.85 and have noticed the phone will not go to sleep. I even unchecked the notifications option and chose all the different weather refresh settings, but it still would not sleep. Is this a bug or just the way the program works? By the way, When I say sleep I don't mean clicking the "End" button and locking the screen, But the internal phone "awake time" as found under phone status.

HTC Droid Eris :: Recommended ROMs / Overclocking?
Jul 17, 2010I'm an Incredible user, but my girlfriend has an Eris. I'm tired of hearing her bitch about the speed of the phone, and how it occasionally locks up on her, so (now that the easy root method for leaker's is out) I'm about to root her phone and install a custom ROM. Now, I have a few questions for you folks since I'm not familiar with the Eris community at all (and I have some time constraints since she needs her phone back).
1. I'm looking for a ROM recommendation. What I'm looking for is something extremely stable and fast. I don't need any bells/whistles. She doesn't use tethering, at all but it must have GPS/Camera/Blue tooth/MMS working. Don't really care if it has Sense, but if there is something fast/stable WITH sense, that would not be a bad thing. Most important things are speed and bug-free (or damn close). Froyo would be nice (obviously).
2. I am unfamiliar with overclocking. I come from a phone where you overclock by installing a hydra kernel, so I don't know how this works on the Eris. It sounds like I will have to manually set up overclocking in Set CPU, and I'm not familiar with the application. If anyone can give me some tips on how to do this, or recommended settings that would be AWESOME. One thing to keep in mind is that this is not my phone, so I won't have time to tinker with trial and error (in other words I won't be able to start testing at 850mhz and work my way down until it's stable).I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm hoping some of you guys will be able to help me out given the circumstances. Jun 9, 2010I recently rooted to froyo and I installed the kernal to overclock between 250 and 12500. I use setcpu and even with it set at 12500, the phone will still act slow sometimes. For example, with a live wallpaper on, if I click to look at my apps, it stutters. If I take the live wallpaper off, its fine.

Sep 21, 2010When it comes to overclocking is it strictly a hardware thing with these phones? I see a lot of threads where people are clocked at 768 or up to 806 with no issues. I can't go over 710 without issues. Even at 729 I start to get random force closes and at 748 it completely craps out. I'm fine with 710 if that is how far I can go, but I was wondering if this is a normal thing? I know some hardware is better than others, I am a hardware technician, but that much better?
