View 20 RepliesI just want to send a huge thanks to messenger13 for helping me install my new ROM "Bugless Beast" on my newly rooted Moto Droid which is now running at 800mhz.
View 26 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been having issues with my Droid X (this is my second, my first bricked during the 2.2 upgrade.) It's fairly reproducible, and I want to know if it's just me or if everyone's experiencing this. It generally happens when I have the phone in the car dock, It's connected to my stereo for phone and A2DP via bluetooth and music is playing, though my mom (who just got a droid X) called me yesterday to say it was happening when she was listening to music on her way to New York and she was pretty frustrated. Basically, what it boils down to is music playback starts getting choppy, the phone gets warmer than average running temperature (though not horribly hot) and eventually music playback stops. While double-tapping the home button still opens that 'say a command' voice prompt, the screen takes forever to draw and the phone runs sluggish as hell. Other than that, the screen is unresponsive, the home button doesn't actually do anything, and the only way to get the phone out of this state is a battery pull. This particularly sucks because I've gotten used to using my phone as my in-car music player AND for navigation so since it is so frequently going down in the middle of driving places I can't really rely on it anymore. It may just be my device, too. When it's plugged into some computers in my house, the bottom half of the touch screen becomes unresponsive. When I brought it to the Verizon store to get it replaced, the incompetent rep basically determined that since I'm running LauncherPro, my device must be rooted and refused to honor my warranty. I'm getting pretty fed up with Verizon. I'm on my 8th replacement phone from the first droid I got (3 droid erises, 3 motorola droids, 2 droid X's) and not a single one has worked as advertised.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI was at the beach today and my sister dropped my phone in the water, and now it wont turn on. The phone is still under the 30 day return policy from VZW. Will they accept it, or do I need to spend another ridiculous amount of money for the phone? I was going to take the phone back anyway for massive amounts of dropped calls and desktop wont rotate horizontally. You can't really tell it has been damaged, it just wont turn on. The water damage sticker is still red.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted to froyo and I installed the kernal to overclock between 250 and 12500. I use setcpu and even with it set at 12500, the phone will still act slow sometimes. For example, with a live wallpaper on, if I click to look at my apps, it stutters. If I take the live wallpaper off, its fine.

View 49 Replies View RelatedThese benchmarks were taken with: Quadrant Standard
550 mhz Score: 351
800 mhz Score: 441
1000 mhz Score: 569
Thought that I share these incase someone was curious. I have a Android 2.1 Motorola Milestone. Its interesting to note that at 1000mhz when compared against the online database of benchmark results the Milestone placed higher than the Nexus 2.1. Though of course the nexus 2.2 still lead the charts.
So I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have followed everything stated on the stickies about rooting and such to get my self rooted. I'm running ultimated droid right now with SetCPU and my question to you all is, how do you get it even higher. In the video I followed (the 1 in the sticky), he installs everything and when installing the ROM, has an option to install a 1.25 ghz ROM. Given, he wasn't installing ultimate droid but when I "crank it up," my max is 1 GHz. Is this because of the ROM or am I missing something?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI unplugged my phone from the wall charger at 6:30 am this morning. It is now 1:00pm and my battery is at 20%!!! It says that the display has used 33% and the android system has used 24%. For some reason it says that the calendar has used 14%, and I barely looked at it today. I installed bugless beast 7.5 last night, set the overclock to 800, and charged it up. Today, when my battery dipped to 40%, I went to setCPU and set the speed back down to 550. Still, now it's at 20%.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am new to rooting, but not new to overclocking... except for when it comes to phones.
I made this thread to find out exactly what I need because I have no idea what is up to date and what isnt, there are so many threads eveywhere with different information. I only rooted last night so I am still quite noobish here.
Question: Does the installation of Cyanogen include everything I need to OC? I have downloaded setCPU 1.5a but that is all. Havent installed it or anything. I'm pretty confused on the whole kernel topic and what needs to be done for me to get my droid up to 800mhz.
Are there any dangers of overclocking?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI got my first smart phone on 15 July, a Droid X. Everything was OK till last week when it died. I took the dead phone to VZ and they examined it and said there was moisture damage. Seems like there are some places on the phone that turn red when exposed to moisture. Bottom line was they are replacing the phone, but I had to buy a new battery and sign up for the $US4.95 a month insurance.
I do live in Florida and it can get hot and humid in the summer here. So my question is just how much do you have to baby a phone like the DX?
I thought I was careful with mine. Did not every carry it with me in the swimming pool. Kept in a nice silicon case to protect from bumps, and had another old HP calculator case that I often kept it in for more protection. Never had anything happen like dropping a Coke on the DX.
The lady at VZ was kind of a bozo, she even wanted to over charge me for the battery; but some guy in a suit came out of the back room and said I was a preferred customer and gave me a discount. When I asked about buying a different case that would protect my phone from water (I have seen OEM water proof cases advertised on the internet) she said that was not necessary.
Do other peeps have "moisture" issues with their phones, and if so how do you deal with them? Now that I know where the red spots show up if there is moisture damage I will probably start checking them. But if smart phones are so fragile that I have to baby them so they last more than three months I may have to review my decision to buy one.
How hard is it to remove the water damage indicator from the back of the phone? What tools would I need?
