My HTC Desire applications (most noted are weather widget, friendstream etc) don't update them frequently. I mean, an hour or two pass by and the applications still show out-of-date information and then I do them manually. Any help on this? How can I reduce time for updates to 15 minutes?

Has anyone else noticed the battery charge does not seem to last well? I have the wifi turned off and only enable it when required but just general usage seems to sap the power quite quickly. At the moment I'm not sure a full charge would even last a day! Are there any smart apps out there to help manage this? Do widgets relly use that much power? The Android OS itself seems to use an alarming amount of power as does everything else!

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a problem that has been annoying me for some time, but has recently become ridiculous. As we all know the internal memory is pretty small on the Desire, and i've tried to be conservative with the apps I install (unless I know they can be moved to SD). However, despite this i'm constantly low in internal memory. at the moment, the only apps i have installed on the internal memory are beautiful widgets (1.36mb), colornote (524kb), facebook (3.05mb), mixzing (3.70mb), multicon (316kb), swiftkey (1.84mb), (tasker (1.43mb), voice search (2.54mb) .everything else I have moved to the SD card via app2sd or through the recently posted trick to get all apps to automatically install to SD. As you can see, the apps I have installed (obviously this excludes all the various htc stuff that comes preinstalled etc) falls far short of the supposed 148mb that i have available to install apps, so can anyone shed any light on what might be going on? I've tried clearing various caches to try and free up some spece but this has barely had any impact and this is truly starting to bug me. I've got a desire on 2.2

Will this spoil the battery or phone? (If I charge when the battery have not been all used up).I heard from people that it might spoil the phone if I charge in this manner frequently.

Issue:
I tried to update my angry birds and adobe air. My htc desire was fine during the download, but then when it started installing, my phone would say update successfulness. The same thing happened when i tried to install some new apps.
I have a good ROM that I've been using for months now. The only gripe I have is not being able to update maps, gmail and other preinstalled apps. I also want to uninstall Titanium Backup but am not able to. Is there any way to do these?

View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe last couple of days I've noticed I can't browse or update apps like Android Facebook, Android Twitter and Google Mail and can't browse the Market when I'm connected to the mobile network on 3. This happens even when the notification tray has the H or G symbol and up- and downstream icons are animating. I've checked through the Mobile Network settings and can't see that I've changed anything by accident. The strange thing is the Friend Stream updates when I'm connected to the mobile network.
Does anybody know what I might be missing?
I've had my HTC Desire for about 2 weeks. I have searched through the forums for info...but between threads getting off track or just not understanding anything, I thought it would be easier to ask basic questions about my particular issues.
1) What is root? I have the 2.2 update, I am happy enough with HTC and my carrier (Telus) and I don't need tonnes of room right now.
2) Speaking of room, I try to put my apps on my SD card with the 2.2 update but only Google Earth and Night Sky are able to do it. All of my icon packs etc. wont go to SD. I'm pretty sure I have lots of room left so I dont think this is a huge issue.
3) Battery issues. I didn't do the first full charge as I had to use the phone asap when I bought it. I don't have much going on with my phone, no active wallpapers, just weather toggle and clock, text and a few phone calls, check a couple websites, maybe a video here and there, and sometime use GPS for maps. I keep my screen on zero percent and I soft touch the power button to go black screen when i'm idle. I turn off gps and wifi when not using them. With that said, I cant keep the phone idle and off charge overnight without it going to zero. After a charge I lose 10-20% in the first hour. I have never lasted a day on a full charge.
4) After playing around with customizing my phone with icons and widgets I am done. All I need this phone to do is make phones calls, text and check my favorite websites. I use my tracks when I go running and listen to music when I run. Thats all I want it to do. Its a phone so I would love if it could keep a charge in case of an emergency. I was late for dinner the other night because my battery died and I couldn't even call to say I was late! so....
5) What do you recommend I do with my phone to keep it as basic as possible and powered up?
6) What are the key apps to make this the best user experience?
7) When in my pocket I lock screen but once I found that I had 23 unsuccessful attempts to open screen from jiggling around in my pocket lol. Is there anything to help me with that?
I seem cant update my apps cos it just said "starting download" all time but it never finish what it suppose to do and does anyone know how to fix this probelm?

I was hoping one of the add-on keyboard or clipboard apps would provide this feature but I haven't had any luck finding anything. I have a big email address and password and would love to keep them in a permanent clipboard of some sort. The clipboard apps I've tried kind of fit the bill but switching to that app for the purposes of making a selection disrupted the flow of things. Press and hold would be best. Can anyone suggest an app that would accomplish this? I've been also looking for a way to remove the stupid arrow keys at the bottom of my HTC Evo's keyboard. I tried better keyboard from the market but I'm having issues getting used to those keys. The letters seem smaller or something.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThough I've migrated happily from a verizon Palm 700WX (WM) to a Droid, there is a composition feature I miss called 'my text', which gave you ten registers where you could store frequently used phrases 'On my way', '@giantstupidURL.com', '[large foreign phone #]', etc. When composing a message any of these phrases could be inserted with just a few keystrokes.
I have not been able to discover anything similar on the Droid. Did I miss it, or are there apps for email / text that have this and other enhancements?
I have alot (and I mean ALOT) of apps on my Xperia, so I get around 5 app updates a day, which is now starting to agitate me because most of them are the same apps everyday needing updates.
Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
Does anyone have any idea how to get it? or if I can't get it, when can I?
Does it actually work? I still have to manually update the apps I put on auto update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using handcent for almost a year now. 2 weeks ago, right at it, one of my most frequently used contacts for texting disappeared from handcent. The text comes through on board messenger but wont cross over to handcent. Out of 90 or so contacts this is the only contact with that issue. The contact is an AT&T contact, all other AT&T contacts work fine. I've removed the contact, reset the phone with battery removed, made new contact and still the same. It's almost like the number/name is cursed. This "cursed contact" comes through handcent on my wife's phone just fine.

Currently, my application already displays in real-time the device's changing location on a map. I can also easily display the location of one of the other points of interest. I want to update the widget every minute or so, from when the user initiates the tracking to when the bus has departed (i.e. the time runs out). This widget needs to be updated more frequently than what updatePeriodMillis allows, which is every 30 seconds. I reckon about once a minute. Being new to Android programming, I can think of a few ways to do this, but I would probably end up doing it in a way that consumes way too much battery etc, so I'm looking for some insights from more experienced Android developers. How do I start the timer? How can I access the widget instance from my applications run-time? And so on.
