Issue:
I tried to update my angry birds and adobe air. My htc desire was fine during the download, but then when it started installing, my phone would say update successfulness. The same thing happened when i tried to install some new apps.

My phone is telling me my internal storage is nearly full, whereas I have a 4gb microsd card which is not being used.
How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
During the last few days I've been unable to update or install any apps on my UK Nexus 1. I keep getting "Download Unsuccessful"This did coincide with me switching to Gmail instead of Google Mail but I switched it back and things still don't work so I don't think that this is the answer. I have plenty of room on the phone & SD card.

After I manually updated to 2.2, whenever I try and download an app it says "Sorry, there's not enough space to install this item." If I go to settings, SD Card & phone storage settings, it says I have 158MB available space under Internal phone storage. So I have plenty of room to install things, what's the deal?

It seems like the app is downloaded but it gets stuck on installing.
My Desire is 1 week old and came with 2.2 preloaded. It is an unlocked unbranded handset from Carphone Warehouse. Yesterday my phone displayed a message that there is an update available. I decided to check it out before jumping in with both feet. I currently have software version 2.09.405.8, so I assume this update will give me 2.10.405.2? If so, I have read here that there are a few problems with the update, specifically with wifi. I have also read elsewhere that HTC withdrew the update until this was fixed.
Some of the solutions talk about manual installation and a gold card, whatever that is!
Have HTC fixed the wifi problem? Is it now safe for me to install the update OTA? Or should I wait? I really don't want my phone being messed up and having to fiddle around with gold cards or whatever.
Or is it embedded during the update ? I recently did the 2.2 OTA update, flash websites are working in the browser but im not sure if thats using the Flash Lite or 10.1.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best way for restoring apps after a ROM install. Currently I am using Defrost but it updates that often I try to keep up. I have got into the practice of making a backup using ROM manager then doing a full cache and data wipe before installing the new ROM.
I have been letting the phone do its own thing and eventually the apps seem to restore themselves eventually, but is there a quicker way to restore them after a full wipe.
Does anyone know if it's possible to install apps on my Desire which have already been downloaded and saved to my PC? My previous Nokia had an app installer programme. Is there one for the Desire/Android?

View 7 Replies View RelatedUp until today i have had no problems with my Desire, then i tried to sync my phone with HTC Sync and the phone couldn't see the software. done the usual and checked and double checked i had the right settings, also un installed it and re installed from the SD card and it see's it but won't allow apps to be installed from my pc 80004005 is the error i get when clicking on the application installer in HTC Sync. I have tried the updated HTC sync from HTC website and that won't even install to my PC, i get an error when clicking the .exe All this was working fine yesterday and now somethings wrong Any ideas guys?

I've been searching around the internet (and here) and everything suggests they should be in the "Download" section of the market, but they're not. I've used the same account, complete with the email receipts you get for each purchase, but nothing is showing up.

I went to marketplace, and SOME of my previously paid for apps showed up as 'purchased' which I then reinstalled fine, but a lot of the rest are not even appearing when I search for them, although their free demo versions do appear. My google checkout lists all the apps I paid for no problems when I look at purchase history on a computer, but still, I cannot even search for these paid apps, let alone attempt to install them!

They would download fine but then I'd get a message saying "Installation unsuccessful" but not give me any further information as to why that is. When using .apk files, I get "Application not installed" but no further information as well.
I have enough space on both the phone and the SD card and I am running a rooted 2.2 original ROM.

View 5 Replies View RelatedGot a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe last couple of days I've noticed I can't browse or update apps like Android Facebook, Android Twitter and Google Mail and can't browse the Market when I'm connected to the mobile network on 3. This happens even when the notification tray has the H or G symbol and up- and downstream icons are animating. I've checked through the Mobile Network settings and can't see that I've changed anything by accident. The strange thing is the Friend Stream updates when I'm connected to the mobile network.
Does anybody know what I might be missing?
I've had my HTC Desire for about 2 weeks. I have searched through the forums for info...but between threads getting off track or just not understanding anything, I thought it would be easier to ask basic questions about my particular issues.
1) What is root? I have the 2.2 update, I am happy enough with HTC and my carrier (Telus) and I don't need tonnes of room right now.
2) Speaking of room, I try to put my apps on my SD card with the 2.2 update but only Google Earth and Night Sky are able to do it. All of my icon packs etc. wont go to SD. I'm pretty sure I have lots of room left so I dont think this is a huge issue.
3) Battery issues. I didn't do the first full charge as I had to use the phone asap when I bought it. I don't have much going on with my phone, no active wallpapers, just weather toggle and clock, text and a few phone calls, check a couple websites, maybe a video here and there, and sometime use GPS for maps. I keep my screen on zero percent and I soft touch the power button to go black screen when i'm idle. I turn off gps and wifi when not using them. With that said, I cant keep the phone idle and off charge overnight without it going to zero. After a charge I lose 10-20% in the first hour. I have never lasted a day on a full charge.
4) After playing around with customizing my phone with icons and widgets I am done. All I need this phone to do is make phones calls, text and check my favorite websites. I use my tracks when I go running and listen to music when I run. Thats all I want it to do. Its a phone so I would love if it could keep a charge in case of an emergency. I was late for dinner the other night because my battery died and I couldn't even call to say I was late! so....
5) What do you recommend I do with my phone to keep it as basic as possible and powered up?
6) What are the key apps to make this the best user experience?
7) When in my pocket I lock screen but once I found that I had 23 unsuccessful attempts to open screen from jiggling around in my pocket lol. Is there anything to help me with that?
