HTC Desire :: Message Alert Icon Shows Message - But No Message
May 26, 2010I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.

Jan 21, 2010I have read about numerous problems with the Hero receiving mms picture messages and such, which I experience as well. However, I also have a weird problem where the pictures I do receive disappear from the entire thread after about 5 seconds...I use both Chomp and the stock app and both exhibit the problem. Am i just missing something? There doesn't seem to be anyway to access the particular message once it disappears.

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I downloaded an image from commons on my phone. I then hit settings->personalize->home wallpaper->Photos and then select the image when it appears. I get the confirmation popup "the picture has been set as your wallpaper" but when I hit the home key nothing has changed.
If I select any image from "photos" it does this, but if I select HTC or Live wallpapers it works fine.

Aug 15, 2010Ok, any time I try to send a photo over MMS it just sits in my inbox going no where. I'm using a rooted ROM and handcent, changed the sent settings to 1Mb for file size so that should'nt really be a problem (photos are only 80k). Am I missing something obvious?

Is there any way to get it to use the whole picture. as it stands, whenever I try to use a picture for my wallpaper, it makes me crop the picture, and no matter what I do, the crop box never lets me use the whole picture, its like there's a size limit or something.

Oct 30, 2010For a while now the thumbnail gallery has sometimes merged pictures - so on the thumbnail it's actually a combination of more than 1 picture. This hasn't really bothered me until recently because the more pictures I take the worse it's getting, so much so that I can't always tell which picture I'm going to be looking at until I actually select it. In every case the picture views correctly on the screen when I view them one at a time, it's just a problem with the thumbnails. I've attempted to clear the gallery cache which made it appear slightly better but not by much. I've checked the DCIM / .thumbnails folder but there's just loads of files in there saying file and RAW file and to be honest I don't know what it's all about. I've trawled the net and checked the forums but cannot seem to see a solution - does anyone know what I can do in order to solve this?

Jul 29, 2010Since I started installing custom ROMs on my Desire, the contact pictures have been missing in the HTC Messages app. They show up fine everywhere else, just in Messages I see the default grey contact icon all the time.I initially thought it could be a bug specific to one of the ROMs I installed but it's happened with AdamG's 'official' Froyo Sense ROM and Paul's MCR Custom ROM r5 which I'm currently running (actually, I've installed 2 slightly different 'bakes' of this and the problem is there in both).I've tried asking about this on XDA and MoDaCo in the relevant ROM threads but not had any luck. Just wondered if anyone had any idea at all what could be causing this and how to fix it, or at least find out why it's happening.As I said, its literally just in the Messages app that it's happening - everywhere else contact pics show up just fine.

May 30, 2010I am able to upgrade now and im thinking about jumping ship to Android. I currently have a Blackberry Storm2, i absolutely love the S2 but unfortunately the OS is so far behind everything else on the market and its sooo buggy! Aug 29, 2010I want my contacts to have the facebook profile pictures. Most of them update, but i noticed some dont, which wouldve been bearable if a couple werent in my favourites (people) widget.
I've used SyncMyPics and it seemed to work fine, but all the pictures are now using the gmail picture which is blurry (fixed if i deleted the pic in gmail so itll used facebooks higher quality). but heres the problem, when i go to the contact to pic a new picture, the options are google and facebook, but the google is the updated picture, and facebook is still the old one. I want to use facebook too because its much better quality.
